If it wasn't already obvious there will be 2 types of people voting and commenting

1) Thought process "promiscuity = girl has had lots of sex = girl likes lots of sex/is good at it, but I'm not going to admit that I want a slutty girl" - poll option 3

2) Thought process "promiscuity = lack of innocence/other related perceived negatives etc" poll option 1

At the end of the day it shouldn't really matter at all, it's kind of a shallow animalistic thing to dislike someone for.

Unless the promiscuity affects her or his personality it really doesn't matter to me. I'm more personality over looks/promiscuity.

I wouldn't really see it as affecting it, providing it wasn't going to affect any relationship commitments. As long as she isn't going to continue with casual sex while we're together, bang on about past lovers or give any diseases it doesn't really bother me.

Yeah, agreed. I think a lot of people are conflating "number of sex partners" with "personality" and I don't think that's accurate. Someone could be very loyal in their committed relationships and still have a lot of experience, while someone else could have had very few sexual partners but still have cheated as much as possible on all of them, etc.

I put option 3, because I care far more about a person's honesty and commitment to the relationship than their history. If someone likes sex that's great, and they're probably good at it by now, and if someone is inexperienced or shy then we probably have more in common but the sex might be awkward; there are pros and cons to either. :p

idk it depends, if i knew a girl who liked me had been with some of the dudes i know, there would be no chance in hell i would ever go for her...(some of the dudes are fucking nasty as hell and have had near every damn sexual disorder besides hiv and aids at one point. so yeah, no thanks)

i have been with girls who have had lots, little, none, a bit more than a little, and each one i liked the same as previous, but like i said if i knew a chick had been getting railed 1000 times by a few different guys i know...ugh. no thank you at all, idc how hot you are

Girls that fuck a lot of random guys put out significantly less in a relationship.

From what I've noticed.

I wouldn't hold it against my girlfriend if she had slept with other guys before me (not everyone can be your first) but there would be a line after which I would probably start asking some questions (if the person you're dating has slept with something like 20 or 30 other people before you then you might want to have a chat with them about this).

Be reasonable but at the same time know that there's a limit that this extends to.

For the purposes of this poll, lets say you have two potential relationship partners, who are otherwise equally attractive, except one has a promiscuous sexual history and the other does not. Which one is more attractive?

There still seems to be a cultural notion that women who are more restrained and/or virginal are more attractive as serious romantic partner, that women who are more promiscuous are less serious about settling down or are less attractive to serious partners. At the same time, promiscuity in men is considered either a non-issue or a positive trait, while virginity in men is decidedly negative.
In both male and females, I prefer more promiscuous.

(and again, in case my name doesn't make it obvious, I'm female)

I'd rather have a lover who has more experience and knows what they're doing. Breaking in a virgin is a pain in the ass - been there, done that, no thank you.

I disagree with the constantly mentioned "stereotype" that women should stay virgins while men should have sex is accurate.

These days that stereotype really isn't true, it all comes down to personal opinion.

And my personal opinion is that the promiscuous woman I wouldn't even give a chance, and I hold myself to the same standards.

You also may want to expand the poll to include women's opinion of men.

It would depend upon who the potential partner was previously promiscuious with. There are just some people with whom I would be, "Oh, you fucked THEM? Nope, sorry, not going near you. You obviously make bad life choices.".

It's one of the reasons I don't find Angelina Joelie attractive. Well, that and she's ugly, but that's a matter of taste and I have some.

I'm going to have to say it makes a girl less attractive.
I like a healthy interest in sex, but I'd be paranoid about being cheated on if I knew a girl had a tendency to sleep around in the past.

Note that I'm not saying I want a virginal woman - just in my experience the kind of women that sleep around, have a lot of one night stands, etc. really don't tend to work out well in a serious relationship.

I said less attractive, but that may just be because my girlfriend and I are both in our first serious relationship (she's 20 and I'm 21, been together almost 2 years, so we were both fairly late starters) and I love her so much.

Either way, take 'em to Planned Parenthood for some STD testing (a very romantic date) at some point.

I'm not particularly picky.

It depends on HOW he was promiscuous. If he went around having sex with like-minded partners while using protection and being responsible with his fun, then I couldn't care less if he's slept with 10 or 10000 women/men. If on the other hand he was a total jerkwad, and lied and cheated and spread diseases like he was one of the Four Horsemen, then yes; his attractiveness would plummet to bedrock depth.[footnote]Me? Play Minecraft? What ever gave you that idea? =P[/footnote]

In the same vein, I'd be less likely to respect a woman or want to be friends with a woman if she was like Jerkwad Man to her partners.

The occasional slip is of course forgiveable; we are all human after all and therefore not infallible.
