I wouldn't use the word proud... I think the word content more fits into what I believe. Though most people who get to know me are usually quite surprised to find out I'm a nerd/geek, I just don't let them know how much of a nerd I am :)

I'm a professional nerd, which is the best way to have it. Unfortunately I'm free-lance, so I end up talking the ear off my friends about very nerdy things, like php, open-source stuff and computers in general If I was in an office environment, I could do this to colleagues, who you aren't supposed to like anyway.

You know you have it bad(good?) when you're drinking with friends from your old digital media course and you can kill a conversation by talking about tech-y stuff. Also I have a habit of saying to people "You know what I think is interesting..." and then proceeding to sap their will to live.

I'm just glad I'm a computer nerd and not a film nerd or music nerd. At least we can paid for indulging our obsession.

I can be a geek, but in a cool way. I am pretty popular with pretty much everyone, but I also talk to everyone, and have the same amount of respect for everyone. I have geek friends, I have completely non-geek friends.

I don't use the term nerd; instead, if I had to, I'd call myself a geek - which I see as someone who knows too many pop-culture references as opposed to too much technical stuff about computers (which I know little to nothing about).
I don't even see being geeky as bad either, I'm ok in social situations have both geeky and non-geeky friends. When I'm with my fellow geeks, we'll talk about all the stuff that non-geek/nerd groups will, whilst we're in the midst of a major gaming marathon.
So, I'm proud of it, but not really that much of one I don't think.

I suppose I'm a nerd but not in a stereotypical sense with the freckles and glasses and whatnot. I do play a lot of video games though and know quite a bit about computers but I have never played D&D lol.

nerd = geek?

anyway. i'm a proud nerd but I dont go around shouting it or anything. its healthy to at least attempt to attract the opposite sex and nothing does the opposite than a passion for computer games.

Im a Student of Religious education, History and Politics, i play airsoft for physical activity, i can recite star wars, i like comic books and i play far too many video games! Yup im a nerd. I wouldnt call myself a geek, as where i come from, a Geek is a wannabe nerd (usually not intelligent enough!)

Am I proud to be a nerd? Hmm, interesting question. Do I take pride in my knowledge of video games and anime? Sometimes, yes. Am I proud of it generally? Perhaps not. Equally however I should state that neither am I ashamed of it at any point. It's a part of who I am which isn't changing anytime soon. Pride in it may be too strong for what I feel, however I feel no shame in admitting my gaming/anime watching habits.

Yeah i'm abit of a closet nerd, I mean I don't go around telling people about my nerd-ness but if some-one asks I won't deny it.

Personally, i'm a loud and proud nerd. i wear the title like a badge of honour. i think it's pretty cool to be able to share a joke with your nerdy buddies, laugh about it and then throw out casual remarks about the intelligence of passers-by.
I heartily agree with you there buddy!

Especially about the remarks about passers-by!

I'm a nerd! And I say that with much pride! I even have a shirt which says, " Talk nerdy to me."

No, I'm not able to build a computer (yet) but I do love anime, video games, a few tv shows and studying much more than dating. :p I'd rather have Halo 3 or some other thing I can be interested than a boy or girl friend.

I also have an addiction to TvTropes.com >.<;

I am proud of my nerdyness and do not hide it but people do not realy think of me that nerdy when i see myself pretty nerdy.
Same, except people think that because I'm a 'nerd' (I prefer geek), that I'm really smart and am always am asked to help with things I have no idea about. I'm just very good with computers and video games not a math genius!! :p

Not nerd, geek, but still damn proud.

I can recite half of the periodic table of the elements.

I can program in 1.7 different languages.

I can do the math that 3rd year students are having trouble with (keep in mind that I am a first year student).

My favorite page is Wikipedia (DUNDUNDUNDUUUUUN).

I can whip yo asses in TF2, DIPRIP, Insurgency and Mutiwinia, just to name a few.

I know so much random stuff you wouldn't even believe me if I told you.
