Get what your friends play the most (so you have good online interaction) or get the one with the dedicated games you seem to like the most.
Both are good consoles.
This is the most crucial piece of advice you should take note of, after all, playing mw2 or whatever isn't that much fun without your mates playing it with you.
I personally have both and both are good for different things. Each has a good range of exclusives but the xbox live service is better. Of course, you have to pay for it.
And the ps3 does come with a blue ray player which is a big advantage if you have a hd tv.

PC mostly (CUZ IT RULEZ LULZ) and 360 sometimes.

I want a PS3, and I've owned a Wii but like the half of the planet that had bought one, I sold it on to those fortunate enough not to have owned it yet.

I have all 3 consoles and a gaming PC, if there's anything more specific you're curious about I'd be happy to answer.

The PC is my favorite platform in general.
I'm in the same boat here. At this exact point in time, I prefer my 360, but I only like it because it's what a lot of my "internet friends" have, and it's conveniently hooked up in my room.

I probably would use my PC more, but the program that I bought all my games on (Steam) has shat the bed on my computer. I had the PS3 for a much longer time, but now the only things I play on it are Rock Band 2 and Skate 2, neither of which are exclusives. And the Wii, which technically belongs to my sister, is currently gathering dust.

I own a PS3 and PC. IMO is a bit redundant to get a PC and an Xbox360, because most of the games that interest are on PC too.

If I had to recommend one I'd go for the PS3 as the price is finally reasonable.

No no NO.

No fucking versus threads, you can try to rationalise it but the fact is that it's a straight up versus thread. And PS3 vs 360? Really? I thought we'd finally gotten past all that bullshit.
I didn't say 'vs' i said 'or', i.e. rationally i would like to know what people think is the best (pros and cons). Because pretty much every other forum is plagued with fanboys it's hard to find out the real facts about the gaming experience of the consoles.

i play the xbox, but if i were buying a new console now there is very little difference, except that the xbox is something like £40 cheaper.

unless your interested in online play, when it would have to be the PS3

Just get whatever console has the most games you are interested in and/or what your friends are playing. Wii excluded, the consoles are pretty damn comparable. Sure the 360 has some bad marks on reliability, but you'll probably be fine, and it's a capable piece of game console. The PS3 has finally grown a decent library, has a blu-ray player, and is capable in its own right. Personally I'm glad I don't have to choose between my 360, PS3, and PC (well I guess I have to choose which one to play at any given time). All the options boyeee.

I have 360, pc and wii

360: Main- Multiplayer and some good single playergames (assassin's creed 2)
Pc: All around- With other Pc's you can have some good multiplayer games (Starcraft) and alot of the console games are good on the computer, just needs getting used to.
Wii: Occaisonal Multiplayer- not suggested, motion controls are NEVER good on this and the games that dont only use it are fun, but not something you want to focus on.

The Ps3 seems pretty good, but really, the 360 has more fun games and variety. Also, from what i've seen online people on Ps3 seem more like a jerk to me, but there jerks everywhere.

Versus threads, not good.

If this were any other forum, a lot of people would have been called "F4GZ L0L" by now.
This, my friends, is definitive proof that this place has not declined.

And I would pick whatever your friends have, or if it were me, PS3 because of LBP, downloadable FF games, and lower mortality rate.
I just got my PS3 over the holidays and LBP renewed my faith in game developers. The platforming might be a little TOO floaty at some points, but the style and charm of the game overshadow that.
