Karate never saved anyones life.

But Muay Thai, that's a different story. I'm putting my daughter in that class at age 5, she will never be cheated on.

If they wanted to. I don't see a real life application beside-

Cynicism can be seen above.

I would put every one of my children in Martial Arts. I would adopt even more children and do the same. Small ninja army, anyone?

No, really, what robber is going to stab a child in a ninja costume?

My mom put me in a martial arts class in 5th grade. By 6th grade, I was using fellow students as target practice, pulled out of martial arts, & promptly put into therapy.

I'd first train them myself. Teach them some basics of boxing and judo. If they wanted to take it further I would put them in a class or gym.

Son or Daughter, I will give them the gift that keeps on giving: the ability to lay a punk out.

Man, when I was younger I would have clawed my way through every single one of my friends to go out with a Muay Thai girl. When she grows up, there will be a line of dudes waiting for her.

You up for that challenge, dad?

yes, yes, yes. teach them self defense, discipline, give them an outlet for whatever. martial arts isn't about violence.
Martial Arts isn't about violence. It's about so much more, as those talking about 'training bullies' obviously don't realise. Five years in TKD turned me around, gave me self confidence, got my physique on track, gave me coordination and physical competence - basically helped me in so many ways more than merely having an idea on how to fight.

I don't pretend that I would do well in a fight (well, not seriously, heh), but merely having had some training made a world of difference to me.

That feeling of safety and fear of dating a girl who could kick your head off is something all teenagers have wanted at one point.

And she won't have any problems with bastards toying with her heart ;)

Yes, nonviolence only works if it is adopted by absolutely everybody. By which I mean ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY. Of course that will never happen, so even if you aren't the type to stir shit up, you still ought to be able to defend yourself.
