Pretty self explanatory.

These are random MMO's I thought of, so if your favourite/best isn't there, just select Other and have a whinge about who the hell plays Everquest anymore, or something.

Not sure if it counts... but... NWN2.

I know what people might say, but it is technicaly an MMO, and I enjoy it, so there.

I used to play Runescape, but I don't like it anymore. What's your personal choice?

Guild Wars is teh win. Seriously, I'll pay once for my game and once only.
Good reason. Which is why I got into Runescape, as it was free. Plus I had several friends playing it, and they wanted me to try it.

I began Runescape and gave up after I needed to find eggs, flour and something else for a chef and I couldn't even figure out how to move properly. Didn't help that I had a friend obsessed with it (seriously, he had about 9 characters and was paying for the extra content) who would frequently laugh at me because I couldn't kill that damn skeleton outside of the first town.

And it wasn't because I suck at games. It was because the game sucked (imo) and I couldn't be bothered learning it. Like WOW. (/waits for flaming to start)

I have to say Runescape, it being the only MMO I've ever played. I got pretty far, too, 'till it spontaneously stopped working on my computer.

A complaint I've heard is that the quests are really stupid, but that's the point. Runescape doesn't take itself seriously. It's why you can make money as a delivery boy. It's why there's a quest where you get ingredients for a chef to make a cake. Of course, it's still not the sort of game you want to be playing after coming fresh from WOW.

I'm gonna go with CoX (City of Heroes / City of Villains) for my pick. I tried WoW, got about half way to the cap, and realized I couldn't bring myself to like it any further.

CoX though, I may take a break or two, but it was the first MMO I really tried and got into. I like to think the fact that it's held my attention for so long is a good thing, especially since as I've mentioned in another thread, the game starts at 1, not the level cap.

I tried WoW once, realised that it would get me addicted, never touched it again (I have no problems with grinding). Last Chaos was good too, at least a great deal better then RS, though it has issues since every update has to be accepted by the company that originally owned it. Aeriagames bought it from some Japanese company.

But the best of MMOs... I'd probably have to say NukeZone, it's a strategic text-based game. Cheating is non-existant, there is a huge gap of missing idiots there and the game is quite logical.

I hate grinding games, i played WoW for some time and managed to occupy myself for as long as i did by frequently changing everything i did every 5 seconds, damn that game is boring!

I actually prefer runescape because there is so much to do and its not always entirely combat based, theres some econmical side to it..

Im not really a fan of MMO's because theyre all so grind-tastic, ide love to say an MMO one day that is pleasently fun. Lets get ready for Exanimaus then!

I played WoW for 2 years. I was completely addicted and I would continuously say that I wasn't. At the time I was completely right and was blind to my addiction, but I'm glad I can look back and just say NO! After that, I tried City of Villains and I really enjoyed it. It has a real casual vibe to it (though I played it non-casually). You can hop on and do a few missions for your contact and then hop back off, easy as pie! The character customisation is also really good. I've actually decided that I'm going to get another month subscription for it, hopefully later today. There's just nothing like the feeling you get when you SMASH!

The very first MMO i saw was WoW. The very firsat MMO I played was Mu (I was bored and needed something to do, even if the game was boring as hell). After that I played RO, got pretty far and quit. I recently tried WoW and thought it sucked big donkey balls. I will not touch an MMO again. Single player's for me!

where the fuck is ultima online?

Anyway, given the options, guildwars. Fun game, no need to spend your time lvl'ing (yahtzee probably never played this game. in his review of tabula rasa he posted a pic of gw while saying "grind right up the bum", or something like that), and if you just want to go pvp, you just need to make a pvp character, which is at max lvl.
