Eh, I only use rare candies when I really need to, or when my pokemon is one level away from learning a really effective move. Other than that, I find that if you level your pokemon through natural battling and training, they become stronger and have better stats rather than rare candy training. Plus throwing in some minerals and what-not helps as well. Heck, I always train my pokemon by having them battle against pokemon whom have a type advantage over them, and call me crazy, but I think it actually helps to make them more resistant gradually over the course of their training.

P.S. Shiny pokemon are not better than their brethren. They just wook pwetty. I'd rather have a shiny for a pet than a serious battling companion. Yet a lot of people on these wi-fi battle vids seem to think that shinys are the equivalency to God or something. I'm not saying they're annoying, all I'm saying is, I just don't get the hype.

I say, try to explain to the guy that you wanted an interesting and involving battle. Explain how battling (and training) rare candy-pokémon is simply boring.

If he doesn't agree to change his party, either don't bother fighting him; or - if you think that might damage your relationship - fight him, but don't bother to put any effort into it.
If you read my post (I am the guy he is talking about he even confirms it) the team he is talking about was meant to be there so he would have a crap battle then the next fight would be my real pokemon team and the battle would be more awesome in comparison.
Sorry then. The things that can be gained from reading threads before posting, eh?

I use it sometimes. I'll have a rare candy lying around and, say, I'm trying to train up a high level Drifblim. If I'm feeling lazy at the time, why not? One rare candy here and there isn;t gonna kill anyone.

I disapprove of the modding or cheating route because, to me, it takes all the fun out of the game.

1. you use it to get pokemon that you would otherwise not be able to. like those fucking event ones....(you should offer to get the for your friends as well:)
2. your playing the origenal R/B and do the missingno glitch to max your stuff that is ligit and anyone can do it.
3. the person your playing is a complete asshole who keeps kicking your ass and gloating about it cause he got the ticket to get ho-oh....yeah meet my darkri you asshole.

Rare Candy trained Pokemon are not weaker than normal.

It's just a faster way to train, I see no problem with it.
I was pretty sure they are, given that you can't take advantage of EVs.
EVs count...Rare candies just level you up. http://www.serebii.net/games/evs.shtml

Tested with over 50 pokes.

TRUST ME...they count as a legit lv up. I saved and tested it out...it works. If you max out or ev's before level 100 you can rare candy away!just giving minerals all round makes them weaker because your increasing stats your particular pokemon can't utilize as well eg. Iron an a Weavile

U mad?
no I was eating food. My plan was to fight you today with those pokemon you were going to be like 'GRRR' (except I was surprised at how GRRR you went and I thought you were over reacting by a lot) and then fight you again on Monday with you like 'why should I?' and then I would talk you into fighting me again and then your like 'WTF, that ain't stupid rare candy pokemon' and then you would have a really pleasant surprise and the battle would seem 10 x more awesome due to you having a really bad battle before it.
I wasn't GRRR. I was ticked off. Fiiiine...whatever. I'm sick of arguing anyway. -corny sitcom music begins to play-
so are we going to have the actual pokemon fight on monday or not?
Of course, given that all your pokemon actually have time put into training them.

As long as you first EV your stuff i don't care what you do. If you don't EV your stuff you're getting murdered against me anyways so meh, w/e lol.

I do despise hacking actual pokes though, rare candies don't matter since the game auto-levels your stuff for fights but for every hacked shiny you make you diminish the value of an actual shiny an actual person gets...and that person could be YOU!

Challenge him to a Digimon battle.
well i know the OP and he used to think digimon was a pokemon rip ff until I gave him an hour long rant on how it isn't, now he is unsure. so he properly won't want to have a digimon battle.

Best way to get a fast training and use the rare candy cheat at the same time:

Get Macho brace, put your pokemon EV training against really low level opponents, turn off battle scenes. In three levels you'll have an ev stat maxed, if you get pokerus it'll take less time (1hour), the rare candy away.

Since you're using cheats you might as well use vitamins to pump up desired ev stats to 100 before starting the training.

Most people will get all the EV's they need before they use the rare candies to get up to lvl 100. Or get the Pokémon up high enough then go for the EV's. But you may as well fight them, it doesn't mean he's a crap player it just means he can't be arsed grinding, I mean I have nearly 2 boxes full of lvl 100's on soul silver at the moment and I still continue to train new ones up and I'm not fussed if I fight someone who cheat their Pokémon.

I think a better questions is...

Why are you fighting over pokemon on the internet?
Pokemon is surprisingly competitive actually.

Deep to, way more than most wrpgs times 100.

I don't disapprove of Rare Candy training, I just find it to be pointless.

Long-term (lv. 50 and above), EV's are vital. If the Pokemon hasn't actually been fighting any opponents, and thus hasn't gained Stats bonuses through EV's, it will be significantly inferior to a Pokemon that has reached Lv. 50+ through battle.

In this context of player vs player battles, the person who uses rare candy training is only cheating themselves. Yeah sure, your'e winning now, but only through level superiority. Once your opponent reaches the same level as you, you will find yourself outmatched.

this guy clearly just wants to one-up other players by over-leveling his opponents. Don't waste you time on him, unless you intend to train your pokémon to his level and beat the crap out of his inferior pokémon.

As soon as i learned of EV's, I immediately decided to only use rare candies to level up and evolve bug Pokemon (low-level evolutions. Complete pokédex!XD!) , then sell the rest (5000).

I am the person who the OP is talking (he confirms this) about and if you read my posts you see the team of pokemon I showed him were just there so he would have a crap fight before dada a actual team of pokemon legitly trained to lv 100 with EV's and nature taken into account. also that the rare candies and shinys that I have are from a friend putting them on my game without my approval.
