Most forums have a form of erasing objectionable posts. Here the post is hidden and marked as offensive etc. Other forums the post is left and the thread is locked.

So, am I the only one that sees such a hidden post/locked thread and thinks "Weyhey, bet theres something good in here!"? Experience shows that the mods were correct and in fact its not worth reading, but every time I see one I click it like a moth drawn to a flame. Well, I do sometimes get a laugh from them, its true.

So, fellow escapists, do you read the blocked posts and threads?

Just to be clear - I'm not asking if posts should be blocked or not. I'm not interested in discussing the rules. The rules are the rules. The post that sparked this thought actually came from another forum. (Its a bank holiday weekend, I have a lot of free time ok?)

captcha: motrage test. Anything like an inkblot test? very appropriate.

I'll look through them on occasion, though sometimes I wonder why that post was blocked but not some of the others.

Yep, I always reveal any hidden posts. Whether it's a spoiler or an objectional post, hiding it only serves to make me pay much more attention to it. It's often good because I get to laugh at whatever was written (I'm the kind of cruel person who loves reading through others ban appeals).

Of course I always end up immediately regretting opening spoiler tags, but I continue nonetheless.

I look at most of the hidden posts becuase there is a chance that the person said something that is pure gold and will make me laugh, sadly thats never the case and I'm always dissapointed when I click to look and it's mostly things like a low content post and nothing funny.

It's kind of like how people stop by car accidents to get a better look at them. Yeah it's grisly, but your curiosity is piqued. So yes, I do look at them.

Wow. I didn't know anyone else had my weird obsession for finding out why the post was blocked in the first place. That's cool to know. I find it quite interesting to see what they said.

Yeah, that's pretty much my thought process as well.

I check blocked/deleted posts to further my understanding of the rules, and to get a chuckle out of someone being stupid on the internet.

How could you not click on them?! Unlike visible posts, which reveal their nature instantly and with no surprises, hidden posts have an aura of mystery and danger. They are pure, tantalising potential: is it a foolish low content post? Did someone crack under the pressure of argument and lash out at their opponent? Has the OP edited their original post, simultaneously destroying the context of what follows and insulting the mods and forum members in an ultimately insignificant act of defiance? There is only one way to find out--to click the greyed-out link.

Yeah, it's a kind of morbid curiosity, the same kind that draws me to the "User was suspended for Poll: Hamburgers: WTF?" at the bottom of greyed posts.

Always. Pretty sure you're supposed to. Shows what can get you banned/suspended, educating the curious masses.

Pretty much always, I'm just too curious to pass the opportunity to see public humiliation. Well except the first 5 posts in ZP comments. That shit got old 4 years ago.

This basically. They attract my attention even more so than if they were just random posts on page 6 of 10. I'd probably have never seen it if that was the case. That's kinda the allure of all things censored though isn't it?

Always, to see how to last longer and to get a good laugh.

In fact I will click on the the little "this poster was suspended for" tag Every.Single.Time.
