I bought mine for SSBB, and never bought another game for it in over a year. I gave it to my dad sometime last year after I realized what a giant waste of money the damn thing was.

I know one good reason to buy a Wii: it retailing new for £60/$99 price tag.

Unfortunately, this is not yet an option, I can't find a new Wii selling for much less than £160 (factoring in how Nunchuk is often not bundled) which is just way too much for though it has a quality selection of games they are just not in great enough quantity. I also am just not prepared to spend that much on a sub-HD platform.

Another problem is my unorthodox home viewing. I play may games and watch TV via a 24-inch computer monitor (have a separate digi-box and use HDMI out) so there is no way I can actually plug my Wii into anything.

And with these rumours of Wii HD floating around everywhere that may have a HDMI output... I don't want to be like the chump who bought an iPhone 2G just before the iPhone 3G is announced.

I don't have one but I still will.

Reason besides being a fanboy?

Because One Piece Unlimited Adventure is not only surprisingly good, but also surprisingly habit forming.

I got it as a Christmas present, because I wanted to play Smash Bros and Zelda, both of which are awesome and I enjoy immensely.

No. More. Heroes.
I'm very sorry.
Is the sequel better at least?
Dude, I'm all for free speech and all, but do you really have to bash this game every time it's mentioned? Is it just a reflex? You didn't like it. We get it.
And for fans of the original, yes the sequel is fucking awesome(the third boss is absolutely astounding), but since what you hated was the combat, not the overworld (which has been drastically improved by not existing), then you still won't like it.
I don't mind that people like a bad game that has appeal, I just don't like when people try to say it's good. That's why I attack it at every chance.

And for your information, from what I've heard, I think I might rent NMH2. It sounds like the really tedious stuff has either been eliminated or made optional. The boss battles I kind of liked. It's the fact that I had to do the pumping gas minigame and drive around the least immersive osandbox ever between every one that tried my patience. Only when the Lets Shake cutscene sans-boss fight unpleasently surprised me; that's when the original became completely worthless to me.

So while I might actually like NMH2 (we'll see), I'm going to continue to trash NMH 1 until something more overrated comes along. So it might be a while.

Me and a few friends pooled our money to purchase the Wii, just for the sake of having all the consoles and not getting shafted by exclusives. I have a streak of about 260 or so days of not turning on the Wii.
My problem with the Wii is that I've yet to play a game that I actually enjoyed for more than 2 hours and not think "Damn, I wish this game was on another platform."
I usually don't like games that are just purely gameplay (so Mario and Wii Sports games are out). Metroid would have been so much more awesome with the two sticks instead of the pointing. And here in lies what I think is the underlying theme of my lack of enthusiasm for the Wii; they didn't merge the motion controls to the game enough to make it better than it could be on another console. Every game I have enjoyed on the Wii would either be just as good or better if the Wii-mote had been replaced with a controller.

I got it for my wife for Christmas since it's about the only system with games she's very interested in (Zelda, Mario related stuff, etc.) and it does make for a fun party machine. Everyone can play Wii Sports or Rayman without being really into gaming. If I wanted to play four player on my Xbox the players need to be familiar with shooter controls, fighting games, etc. and some of those things have a steeper learning curve than most of us remember.
DON'T FEED THE CASUALS!!!!!!!!

I got one for Dead Space, Deadly Creatures and No More Heroes. My wife wanted it for Wii Fit, Animal Crossing and Mario.

Never got one. The only reason I would ever consider getting one is for Zelda and Metroid. I have Twilight Princess on the Gamecube, and one of my friends has Prime 3 on the Wii, so I have no reason to have one.

Got mine because it looked promising and Nintendo has never let me down over the years.

Then I sold it for a tidy profit when I realized it had fuck all for games. Bought an Xbox360. Never looked back.

I got the Wii when it was still considered cool, now that I beat all the good games I have for it, I just use it to play the old super mario games

I got it because it had a number of games I was interested in, Twilight Princess (although I ended up playing the GCN version), and Brawl mainly. I still play it now and then. I'm currently working on mastering New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Some of the stages in World 9 are insane.
