I've played Resident Evil 5 firsthand... and didn't like it.

I've watched Dead Space being played... and didn't care much for it.

Just not my kind of thing I guess.

i played co-op RE5 over at a friends house and thought it was pretty good, but I much prefer Dead Space for its atmosphere

Played RE5 fully and only played a demo of Dead Space and didnt care for it. RE5 however still doesnt get much points in my book just cuz of the AI being absolute shite.

I know Dead space has been criticized as ripping off various sci-fi movies like Event Horizon (one of my favorites btw), but it rips off all the best parts of them and combines them in something that is really entertaining.
Completely agree.
It gives back what it takes.

Have them both. Love them both. Although I would recommend Resi as it has more re-play value although if you don't wanna play online, Dead Space as the AI partner is as thick as shit.

Aww crap, I clicked on both being bad... anyways, I have only played Dead Space, and thought it was awesome... I haven't played RE5 yet, but I know it's going to be good. I might have some issues with the new inventory, but it's ok.

Both horrible games.

It was at least expected from RE5, and because of it somewhat enjoyable. But Dead Space was a boring 3rd person shooter with horrible controls.

Dead Space all the way. Sure there's no co-op, but being alone all the time makes it scarier. One thing that ruins Dead Space are the people on the radio telling you what to do. Issac might as well have a roll of parchment with things to do on it as soon as he stepped onboard the ship.

I'd say dead space, despite the fact that a jackass on my friends list told me the ending which ruined it for me. RE5's fun on co-op though

Dead Space without a doubt but with the amount of ammo and health packs you pick up it doesn't really feel like a survival horror game just a scary 3rd person shooter

Resident Evil 5 wasn't scary at all, Dead Space was scary the first two chapters. After that you've seen almost every scare the game has to offer.

I think it's pretty close between them really. i've completed Dead Space, and played through the start of Resident Evil 5 at my friends house. And while I normally hate Resident Evil games anyway, I'll admit that I could see why others enjoyed it.

And Dead Space was fun, even though it wasn't that scary

I'm not very fond of third person shooters, so Dead Space wasn't a very good experience for me. And I don't like having to stop and press a separate button to aim, even if it is more realistic, so Resident Evil wasn't much fun for me. Although I did enjoy the coop feature on RE5. But as far as coop goes I'd rather go for Army of Two or Rainbow Six: Las Vegas 2.

deadspace, the only survival horror came to make leap me and metaphorically **** myself (mainly cus I decided to wander off and explore, not a good idea on spaceship full of necromorphs when u can open a door and get ur head bitten off).

Dead Space. Both good games, but at least I could tell when Dead Space was trying to scare me, unlike Resi. And I don't care who you are, those sequences with the Hunter were scary as fuck.

Dead Space was an amazing game, and you should definitely play it, RE5 is less amazing but has both co-op and more replayability.

If you're a big fan of the RE series, then go with RE5 for the continuation of Capcom plot wackiness.

If you're just looking for a good game, pick up Dead Space instead. Standing alone I'd say it's the superior product.
