So I'm about to start what has become a yearly ritual, playing through the whole Jak and Daxter series(Jak x doesn't count). Since Jak 3 came out i have been beating all three jak games in a row every year, not because i have to but just because the urge hits me.(the urge being brought on by Borderlands) I sometimes revisit old games like the kingdom hearts series and the Ace combat series, but none can truly hold a candle to jak and dax.

So anyone have something that has become a gaming ritual over the years? Whether it be from something you do for every gaming session or once a year.

Nothing I do every year, but I like to re-buy and play through the previous generation's games.

Every year I replay some old school wonders like Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid. Those games have been the single most perfect games I have ever experienced and I never get tired of taking a week out my schedule to replay these wonders.

My friends and I have Starcraft tournaments for large sums of money yearly.
I've won multiple times.

I always have to play a game that surprised me when I bought it so that I have false hopes of a sequel in the coming year. For the last few years, it's been Eternal Darkness.

I always play Timesplitter: Future Perfect system link with friends.

We get 4 origional xbox's, 4 copies of the game, 16 controllers, and have ourselves the greatest time of the year.

Virus with 16 actual people on a custom built maze map is the greatest experience ever.

That's the only part of this post I even saw after reading.

no, usually i move on and try to play new games, like a sane person should do. living in the past can't be healthy in the long run, seeing as the past just keeps getting bigger and i might get lost if i dwell there too long

A month without virgin sacrifice isn't a good month at all. I mean sometimes I have to make do with goats blood and really it just isn't the same, what has this world come to?

Oh, and playing the Baldur's Gate Saga from beginning to end is a sort of tradition as well, done it 3 times now and countless partial playthrough. Not nearly as dramatic as a nice candle-lit sacrificial ceremony to the Gaming Gods, but it's pretty fun as well and something I figure any self-proclaimed 'gamer' oughta give a shot. It's RPG Nirvana.
