The poll wasn't used to draw someone in the title more than anything was meant to. Yes the title was misleading but different it wasn't meant to fluff up a post count or increase views, I don't want a badge that bad. I prefer unique titles whether it be papers i write or posts.

Well, Winter-een-mas is coming up, and I like to do my yearly Mario RPG run during that week. I play through the SNES, N64, GCN, Wii, GBA, and two DS titles, or through as many of them as I can. I know, it's a made up week, but hey, it stuck with me.

So, how long have you been doing this? Personally, I'm inclined to think you started the "Slaughter of the Innocent [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slaughter_of_the_Innocents]" crap.
We've been doing this for about 7 years now, we keep it on a small scale as not to attract attention...

So I'm about to start what has become a yearly ritual, playing through the whole Jak and Daxter series(Jak x doesn't count). Since Jak 3 came out i have been beating all three jak games in a row every year, not because i have to but just because the urge hits me.(the urge being brought on by Borderlands) I sometimes revisit old games like the kingdom hearts series and the Ace combat series, but none can truly hold a candle to jak and dax.

So anyone have something that has become a gaming ritual over the years? Whether it be from something you do for every gaming session or once a year.
Ratchet & Clank < Jak and dax
I fixed that little mathmatical error for you. :]

Oh well, wasn't there a better alternative? Like, uhm... "your gaming rituals" or... *cough* "are you a cultist?... Ok, fine your title is better XD That was just my first tought tho, cause I remembered the discussion about polls being used to attract people, and you do see many examples of threads and polls being utterly useless or silly, but just so that some poor guy can feel better about him/herself by having a high post-count =). Didn't mean to be a *****, I'll give you a cookie to make up for it the next time we meet in person =D

I have an odd habit where I play a game up until the final boss, then I quit playing the game for a few months to kinda savor how awesome it was (if it was a truly awesome game anyway). Then I pick up the game, beat the final boss and restart right away; again stopping when I hit the final boss.

Super Mario World every year. I have no idea why.

Probably the same goes for Sonic Adventure 2 and Gotcha Force as well.

I always like to bust out the demo disc for my dreamcast once a year. Some fun classics on there.

There is a game I play, not so much as a ritual, but out of abscent mindedness: Vietcong. It is not an especially notable FPS which has aged badly, but it has a good atmosphere and music. For some reason I find myself always coming back to it. I was playing it so often that once I had a special button on my laptop which would automatically bring up the game whenever I pushed it. I wouldn't even pay attention to the game as I played it either, it was something I just did whilst pondering about something else.

I usually play through Ocarina of Time once a year, not out of some ritual, but because I feel like playing it.

Where's the "this is pretty much what I expected" option?

I play games when I feel like it. I do almost always go through a new game on an easier difficulty the first time through (even if it's a direct sequal to a game I played a lot).
