How come there isn't a wider range of music on Rock Band? I get that there is the download section, but why only add (at most) 7 songs every two weeks or so... I mean, if you wanna keep people interested in your franchise why not give them extra content on a regular (and quick) basis plus what the gamers themselves actually want.

I already know about the "Request a Song" section on The Rock Band page but anything I suggest (and I've suggested alot) never gets even a mention...

Therefore, do you not think it would be a good idea if there was a section of the online store where players could suggest a song to be converted into the RB track?

Even if it was at a premium of 300 Wii points or so.

Can anyone see any problems with this? Or even improvements? Opinions are also greatly valued.

well obviously those games are making quite a bit of money, so they are putting up songs that the majority must like im sure, otherwise can't do much, can't please everyone.

I pretty much lost interest in Rock Band because they never seemed give me the songs I wanted.

No (In My OPINION) they are doing fine with what they got.

Besides with the Rock Band Network now here you can make suggestions.
Tell the band (Themselves, from there home site) that they should put there songs on.

Plus you can got to the rock band site and make suggestions too.

No - it's really not that easy.
For example, I think that if there was one, the absolute #1 winner would be Stairway To Heaven. And they can't get that.
I'm sure that music is somewhat lacking and personally would want to get me some more R.E.M. but when people complain about the unfamiliar tracks in RB or the general low ammount of them, they have to remember that for every song the guys at Harmonix have to secure rights to include it.

What exactly are you suggesting?

I mean, some music just isn't meant for Rock Band.

Also, some bands consider those types of games as a type of "selling out" so if the band won't say yes, then you're out of luck.

It's farfarfarfarfarfarfar better than the GH soundtrack, which is crap "punk" bands and terrible covers of 70's songs. Most aren't even rock.

Rock Band has Slipknot, Devildriver, Iron Maiden and the Who. It wins by a long shot.

I'm pretty sure that harmonix has provided a DLC music update every single week since the first RB came out. I'd have to confirm to be sure, but I know that was one of their promotional talking points as recently as 9 months ago.

so... how much more frequently would you want additional content?

No, because frankly, most of you have really shitty taste in music, and I think Harmonix has a tremendous grasp on what would and would not make fun and interesting tracks in RB. They have an almost curatorial approach to what goes into their games (RBN notwithstanding), as though they were tending to some kind of rock and roll canon.

Hopping around suggesting more Attack Attack or Avenged Sevenfold or whatever garbage isn't going to get anyone anywhere.

Actually the label get's the final say. There's plenty of White Stripes songs on there but Jack White is against these types of games.

The request a song section on the Rock Band website and is actually looked at and reviewed on a monthly or so basis to see what songs they'll try and get in the game. Personally I think Harmonix are doing a superb job off getting varied music into rock band and there is no way you can complain about the DLC flow it's average is well over 5 songs a week remember when we used to get only songs on disc.

The RBN is releasing songs every day too.

I really don't see how you can say there's not enough 'good' music on rock band.

I won't get fooled by Guitar Hero again. No, no!

OT: Yeah, GH3 had the best soundtrack from the main series IMO, but I'm think that either GH: Metallica or RB: The Beatles could probably take it. I haven't played either of those though, so it's an educated guess at best.

But seriously, Why buy GH or RB when you can play Frets on Fire for free?

Guitar Hero also has Slipknot, Iron Maiden, and The Who, plus Metallica and a ton of other good bands. Really, it's just a matter of randomness.

I do like the idea of a "suggest a song" feature in Rock Band and Guitar Hero though.

Well, frankly on a "when you want it" basis...

But, you can get it "when you want it"..... it's right freaking there in the online store 24 hours a day. Although, I'm probably misinterpreting your comment.

I loathe both Guitar Hero and Rock Band equally. I hate most of the songs on both. If it's your favorite song, I hate it. I hate Nirvana, Muse, Interpol. Sure there are a couple Pat Benatar and Alice Cooper songs, but that's not enough.

OT: They have a massive archive of songs for you to choose from just your music taste probably isn't the same as the majority.

The thing i hated about GH was they had the band i wanted but not the song ¬.¬
