Guitar Hero III for me. When it comes to GH3 I don't care about characters and visuals, I just like to jam to my favorite songs. I will admit the multiplayer is not as good as GH2 but I generally don't do that.

I think Rockband is good when you have a ton of friends but it's playing single that I don't like. Bass is just a watered down guitar and I can't play drums and I wouldn't be caught dead singing. The soundtrack is incredibly calm, which doesn't sound as fun or appropriate, versus Guitar Hero's fun adrenaline rush. Don't get me wrong, I like calm music but only at the right times.

Rock band rock band rock band. The only good song in GH3 is Rock you like a Hurricane. Also, the BS about not using the guitar hero controllers on the PS3 is annoying and I be angry bout that

I only have Guitar Hero III, so I may not be in a position to say much. Yeah, that 7th tier wall is annoying. Some of the songs are boring to play (Cherub Rock, Kool Thing). And some songs downright SUCK (My Kiss, Raining Blood) But other than that, GHIII is a pretty solid game. Unfortunately, the first flaw is enough to kill the game on Hard mode. But I don't see the complaint that the setlist in GHIII is bad. There are songs for everybody who listens to any rock. Electronica, Metal, Punk, Blues, Classic, et cetera. And how is the Rock Band setlist better? I'm not trying to be mean to Rock Band, but they chose "Should I Stay or Should I Go" over any other Clash song.

Rock Band, hands down. Better to look at, listen to, and play. You might say "Hey, that's just because you can get back at that guy who crushed you at Goldeneye by getting 100% singing Maps on hard" and I would reply with a quaint "Maybe, but also because social or 'party' gaming is an escalating fad, and Rock Band is catching on to it and getting great results by providing a fun multi-player game that's addictive and socially acceptable."

Hmm, I had a narky reply about the £190 figure that keeps getting thrown around, then I checked more closely.

Game: £50
Peripherals to play said game: £130
Extra Guitar: £60

Total: £240 (EDIT: WHAT THE FUCK?!)

I want this game, but I'm going to have to think long and hard if I want it that much.

For £240 pounds I could have a Wii...or a second-hand PS3.Or 4 brand new GH3 bundles.
I'm wondering how many copies RB will sell.Less than 5,000 imo.

Apparently, it's already sold a couple million copies.

That's true, but many of those will have been in the US, where the damn game costs half as much. Basically, EA are asking me to shell out nearly close to what I paid for my Xbox 360.

I'm actually quite upset by this. It's not so much the game itself, it's the feelings of excitement and anticipation as the release date crept ever closer have now been soured. It was like looking forward to Christmas when I was a kid and price gouging has spoiled that for me.

Thanks a bunch EA.

Rock band, because of how you can download songs. There are a lot more songs for Rock Band than Guitar Hero. And although you can also download songs to guitar hero, they have only released about 10 songs I think. I live in Europe and I cant wait for Rock Band to be released.

Whereabouts in Europe to you live? Because Rock Band is apparently going to be even more expensive on the continent.

Guitar hero.

Songs have more gameplay, Rock band songs are the popier, simpler songs the bands have put out.

Examples :

tom sawyer
Epic
the hand that feeds
Paranoid

After that, most of the other songs are pop songs anyway (maps, learn to fly, in bloom (partially) ,reptillia, here it goes again, creep). Yes, these are pop-rock songs, but they are still pop songs.

There are very few songs that I would rate as "awesome" songs to play, That come with the disc. Enter sandman, and run to the hills.

I am not going to buy a £90 - £70 product (assuming I only buy the disc and the drums, since I have the guitar, and I am not going to pay £40 to sing. I can do that with the song and a lyric sheet, which is free) so I can play 2 songs.

the downloadables are good, but even then, they aren't the right songs by the band. They released a judas priest album, but Painkiller would have been the only one I'd want. (I'm a masochist that way). I'd get sweet leaf, working man, march of the pigs, greatful dead pack, beetoven C#, and supernaught.

That's still 16 songs, and 14 of them, I have to pay extra.

There's also very little variety, or interesting songs. It's always the same riff. It's like a job.

Guitar hero 3 had a lot more variety (from rain blood to sunshine of your love and black magic woman) and previous titles had other really good and varied pieces in them (jessica, primus)

Completely irrelevant. Question isn't "Guitar Hero franchise VS. Rock Band franchise".

Definitely a point++ for Harmonix though.

Well maybe it should be because a lot of people agree that GH3 sucked!

Rock Band. I like being with my friends, and in what other game are you gonna make them throw drumsticks at you?

I find myself saying to myself quite frequently, "Man I really wish they had this song on Rock Band." It sticks with you so much more that way I think.

I don't own it, but having played both in multiplay, I'll take Rock Band any day. More fun, better music, more flexibility... The list just goes on. Rock Band has it every way but in price and I suppose that's sort of a given.
