dear god so many people chose Miranda
a woman only slightly less appealing than slamming your dick in a toilet seat

I understand what Bioware was going for
the Morrigan of the future
the only thing is that they forgot to put in any of the humanity and such that made Morrigan more than magic tits

the Miranda romance pissed me off for 3 reasons
first she's fucking schizophrenic. at first she's all cocky and arrogant like a seven year old that you have to keep nice with only because their daddy the Illusive man bought you a nice ship for your birthday or whatever. then after you save her sister she's all like "WHAaa Whaaa you're the only person who's ever been nice to me." shut up ***** I only did that mission was because you told me there was an 18 year old version of you out there who wasn't a complete psychopath

secondly, she wanted to shag in the engine room. I wanted to say, "but you know there's a bed in the captain's quarters right?" but no hard steel floor it is

Third, she wanted to shag in THE ENGINE ROOM! you're telling me I have to walk right passed Tali to fuck almost definitely syphilitic Miranda. FUCK THAT

I choose Tali, because...

A. I disliked all the other choices

B. was commited to cheating on Ashley (Yes, i know she hates aliens but i'm a massive asshole and beleave in Humans first(Also why i killed the council, but thats another story for another time))

C. she is the most well written/likable of the three

and 4. I wanted to do her in the first game and when i found out you could I was all like "WHAT, I can romance Tali! Well fuck Ashley" (Which Shepard did cause hes a man whore)

But there was a hidden 5th reason, which i shall call reason X which goes as thus:

X. I'm working under the asumption that at some point your romances find each other out and have to fight to the death or force shepard to choose which one he wants and the Tali/Ash fight would be HILLAROUS!

Well now that this is over with i'm now going to go and eat peanut butter strate from the jar.

can;t go gay with Garrus phooey

why does Garrus not have the most votes D:
I know, wouldn't it be awsome if you could bromance the male characters, like they get invited up to Shepards cabin and we get a little video of them playing games and eating cheetos and at the end they share a bro hug and then go get there things ready for the big fight.

THAT WOULD BE AWSOME!

I romanced Jack for a bit because she reminded me of my girlfriend at the time...

Of course, then I recruited Tali and she managed to dorkily worm her way into Adam Shepard's heart. Now I've got to worry about hurting Liara AND Jack's feelings, and of course there's that Shadow Broker DLC coming up, so it's going to get even MORE complicated and aaaaaaaaaaaa...

Garrus all the way he's the only male option who acts like an organic life form
Speaking of which Legion would make an awesome romance
Jacob is a great option for a lesbian Shepherd because he's a god damn pussy
Thane is fine if you're in to that sort of thing...I suppose

as far as the female options go Tali and Jack are two of the best female characters in anything. it's too bad that you can't get them in a three way. but either way male Shepherd is going to be happy. About damn time after choosing Ashley or Liara, by which i mean choosing Liara. because no one likes Ashley.
then there's Kelly. she's kinda cute
and if you play your cards right you can hit on Samara... it doesn't go well but it's worth a try
or Morinth if you have a death wish
and I'm pretty sure the Normandy SR2 has a toaster that Shepherd can fuck
and I'm pretty sure Harbinger swings that way
and those are the only romantic options for male Shepherd

i know it was a long way to go to rip on Miranda, but I can't put into words how much I hate that ****...
after I got the no one left behind achievement i reloaded my last save and killed the fuck out of Miranda WITH my paragon Shepherd
that's how much I hate her

None of them. I think that romances in video games are never handled well. I tried a romance in Mass Effect, and it didn't work out. The dialogue felt forced and awkward and the whole thing was to artificial. The inherent problem with a video game relationship is that they never feel real to me. I just can't accept that these two people are so deeply in love when they have only been around each other for a few hours and held about four conversations. Now in the game they may have been with each other for days/months/years, but I as the player have only seen them together for a few hours. For me the whole thing feels fake because of that.

Romances are something I wish BioWare would just drop because they actually have a negative impact on the game. There is a severe lack of dialogue for any character you don't romance. In Mass Effect 2, you could have only about 2 conversations with each romance option if you don't choose to fuck them. Garrus will always be calibrating the damn engines and Jack will just tell you to piss off. Both of these character have almost no dialogue when you don't romance them, and to me that is a big problem. Each character should have a large pool of dialogue. I wouldn't be opposed to romances if they clearly weren't robbing players like me of a good chunk of the game's dialogue.

I'm not surprised to see that most people romanced Tali either.
what? the romance is the only thing that sets Bioware apart from other games
the romancing makes Mass Effect and Dragon Age two of my favorite games ever
(this may be because I'll never see a woman who's name doesn't end in .JPG)

but i do agree about the lack of non-romance dialogue

I hate that they took out the love triangle thing
that would have added an awesome level to the loyalty thing

plus I wanted Tali and Jack to cat-fight over me

This is by far the most amusing thing I've read in a while. XD

Miranda irritates the absolute hell out of me by the way she acts when I side with Jack in their catfight. Yeah, I can support the levelheaded Cerberus officer who can be a bit cold sometimes OR I can support the unstable biotic freight train that could possibly punch a hole in my ship in a fit. I was honestly too scared to support Miranda, so when I chose Jack and tried to talk Miranda I find out she's built herself an ice fortress.

I had played through the game as a male Shepard once, and that one time, I chose to have him stay faithful to Liara. I considered playing through as male again, but had a difficult time choosing who I wanted to try out as the love interest. Having to play "Defrost the Ice Queen" with Miranda doesn't sound too appealing, and as awesome as I think Tali is, she's reached more of a little sister status with me despite the encouraging remarks from a certain yeoman. I think I may end up trying to handle the bucketful of batshit Jack is with a little Kelly on the side.

More on topic: On my first playthroughs of ME2 as female Shepard, I chose Thane twice in a row. I eventually got to trying out Garrus, but unfortunately the only interesting things about Jacob are a conversation in the progressing romance and how absolutely apeshit his loyalty mission is.

I picked Tali, kind of.

I was all set along the conversation path to romance her, but I sort of chose the wrong option at the end, which resulted in them not... consumating the relationship.

ETA: I'm also planning on doing another run from 1 to 2 with no romance in the first...
I never really thought about doing that. Its a good idea, and hopefully they will address it in ME3.

-30G Space Loner. "Really? You couldn't find time to romance even a fictional girl?"
That would be a lame acheievement to be sure, thats like 35 hours if you skip through convos and no sidequests...

Also, I have a paragon playthrough where I didn't cheat on ash, a renegade where I cheated on Kaiden(cause fuck Kaiden) and a Renegade where I will decide next tuesday whether or not I cheat on Liara.
