Picture this; a young maiden (the girlfriend) is getting ready for an important party. Suddenly her curtains blow inward. She thinks it's just a breeze, until a hand slooowly strokes her neck, and another hand grasps her side firmly. Then slooooowly, while kissing her neck, the assassin cuts the ropes of her bodice one. by. one...

And, well, yeah, you get the point. I've fleshed that one out a lot more thoroughly before, though sadly not in practice, but I'll spare you guys. Safe to say that it includes more than just costumes. But yeah, roleplay sounds hot as hell. Not too often of course, it has to stay special.

Is the assassin coming to kill her, or does that just happen to be his profession? Or does it, ahem, vary depending on the mood?

Keeping it special is important. What I find difficult is keeping the right mix of spontaneity and staying in character. To much ad lib and it becomes silly, too little and it's stilted. Crucial in any RP, even more so when there's a moment to kill.

The bullshit folk psychology explanation is that, while our society is a lot more sexually liberal than in previous generations, there are still largely unconscious social pressures on females to be sexually innocent and demure and generally lie back and think of England (more than males, anyway). The common fantasy of being forced takes away her responsibility for what is happening, allowing her to just enjoy without having to feel guilty. I don't know how far I believe that but it does seem to have some resonance with my own experience.

Note, obviously, that this in no way means that the vast majority of females actually want to be raped ... it's just a fantasy that, were it ever to be played out, would have to be kept within strict boundaries, and as you say requires a -lot- of trust. Sorry to insult everyone's intelligence (it's pretty damn obvious that virtually no-one wants to be raped - would it still be rape if they secretly did? hmmm) but there was going to be some asshat somewhere who misinterpreted ...

MY definition of knife play entails using knives as massage aids, sliding the blade across your partner's body without applying pressure, not actively trying to draw blood.

See, I couldn't do that because almost all of my knives/swords are about as sharp as I could manage to get them. Not that my gf would let me anywhere near her with them, and she's so worried about hurting anyone that she probably wouldn't even touch one of my knives. I'm not really into playing with knives sexually anyway, so I guess it works out.

Sure, I've tossed my knives in the air and missed a few times, and boy let me tell you, that can turn ugly really quick. Once, one of my knives went into my leg. Not completely thank God, but still, it freaking hurt.

Now the one time I was actually stabbed by this one chick's bf when he caught us making out (she told me she was single >.>), that sucked. I'd never want to do that again.

Actually, I was talking to my gf last night because she asked what my ultimate sexual fantasy was, so I told her that I've always wanted to do a speficic RP, and went into a little bit of detail. I asked her what hers was, and she said that she'd never really thought about what her ultimate fantasy was, but she liked the sound of mine.

It's odd how things work out sometimes. Hell, I'd decided to give up on dating when I met my gf, but she changed my mind. And before you ask, no the RP didn't involve Assassin's Creed or any other videogame, but still, you never know what people might be into. I doubt that there would be much out there to freak them out enough for them to leave you. Look at you funny maybe, but not leave you. XD

I RP in my room all the time! Oblivion, Persona 3, you name it!

I've been meaning to reply to this one...

A few years back, when I was playing Persona 3 for the first time, I dressed up as Yukari from Persona 3. My uniform was the wrong color (I own one self-made high-school-girl fuku for just such occasions) but I did my best to get the accessories right (even if my hair was too long).

We didn't have a D&D game with that one or anything, but we were both enjoying watching me play the game, so we did a little "what if it went like this after the screen went black" bedroom role play. It was fun, but not a character I felt any need to revisit later.

I ran a game for two friends of mine almost every night for over a year and a half, and some sessions lasted from 7PM to 3-4AM.
