To say the least I hated it. What made it even worse was that everyone around me though it was the greatest thing ever and were obsessed with it and I really didn't understand why

Runescape was in it's prime back before "runescape 3d"
Runescape was a very simplistic game that never really seemed like much seriously. A very basic browser game. Thats whatit was, thats what it was best at.
Then they upgrade it "OH NO! it will be much better this way!"
Sure... RS3D was fun... but I always felt it was better as whatever it used to be. When it jumped to 3d it jumped into a realm of non-browser games that dedicated purely the way they were so they were alot better at being a 3d mmorpg then runescape were, and it just couldn't hold a candle to them. Sure it was also cheap (10$ a month I think) but that was still not a good enough game for that...

It was meeeeeh when I played it when I was younger. Yet I was confused by some of the design. Why couldn't I postition the camera higher than five feet above my character? Why could I run for about five seconds, yet I had to wait about three minutes before I could run a decent amount again? Just ended up in boredom and me quitting.

Runescape is actually a cover up for the game's reap name: Run-escape.
This "game" is so horrifically bad, such a gigantic waste of time that you literally
flinch at its very name and sprint away and escape its evil grasp whenever its near your computer screen.
Remember kids: Guns don't kill people, Run-escape does.

My little brother and his friend play it constantly. But they don't do the normal thing of grinding levels. They go to like a stock exchange area and buy and sell stuff. It's quite impressive. They look up prices on websites and say when they found a cheap buy and sell for more cash. I think that is sort of training for a stock market

Considering its free, doesnt require downloads, and has a team of what, 20 people working on it? Probably less than that. Its pretty good considering its all on a browser.
It's fun but the community is terrible and the actual gameplay is kinda annoying. Not playing anymorebecause of the fucked up trading and such and because I just couldn't keep my attention there.

I played a lot of Runescape back before I knew better, but when I think about it, it was actually a great game for what the developers had to work with. They had a lot of great ideas, and the quests/quest system were the best of any MMO I have ever played. The game had a lot of potential, should Jagex try to improve it, but all of that potential has more or less been destroyed by some major changes, mainly the ruining of the game's trading system, thus the ruining of the game's economy. Several years ago, Runescape wasn't half bad. Now, it's a terrible game, and you should run away from it. Fast.

Back in middleschool a bunch of my friends suggested I play it with them because it was "Alot of fun". I gave it a try that day after school.
