*straight to the point*

I have been craving a Russian (or Russian-themed) FPS for some time now, and the only other title that best matches that description is The Void, and that's more of an RPG. Which title would you recommend, or had the best experience(s) in? And in case the poll does not show up, here's what I'm thinking of buying:

Stalker: Clear Sky
Stalker: Call of Pripyat
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl
Metro 2033
Red Orchestra

SoC and CoP compliment each other so perfectly that you have to get both.

Metro 2033 is a very exciting game, and one that I've played through multiple times simply because there is so much cool shit.

I would say Metro 2033, but thats the only one from the list I played. I loved that game to death, so yes pick it up. Also I would say to rent Singularity. Its only about 6 hour game that you'll play once but it was really fun. It is set in Russia, though you play as an American, and it has time travel.

I've played Red Orchestra and recently started with Shadow Of Chernobyl.

RO is pretty good with an intense atmosphere, Stalker SoC is pretty heavy in atmosphere as well, but I still couln't "get" into the game completely.

I can recommend both, in terms of Stalker you should look out for the Complete Edition, I got all 3 of them for 20 euros.

the STALKER series is pretty good, you cant go wrong unless you get Clear Sky, in which case you will cry, many times, at the difficulty.

otherwise, Metro 2033 is a pretty good game, but it doesn't have a lot of replayability.
You know, it shouldn't, by all means it shouldn't, but for some reason I am on my 9th play through.

*sigh*

Glad we live in a day and age where the entire eastern hemisphere can be summed up as "Russian".

/sarcasm

Red Orchestra for multiplayer.

Shadow of Chernobyl with the complete mod for single player.

Eh, only cause your own attempts at world domination haven't worked so well.

I was aware that the developers of all of these titles are Ukrainian. Fine, I'll just call of the game themes above Soviet, since that's what best describes them.

Might be of interest where Clear Sky is concerned.

OT: Metro 2033 is quite brilliant, although I would recommend playing on the Ranger difficulties, as they essentially fix the game's shooting mechanics. Looks exceptional if you can crank it all the way up on your PC too.

Also supporting S.T.A.L.K.E.R. here. Played SoC with the Complete mod and though the difficulty will sometimes make you bash your head into a wall, it becomes extremely satisfying as you get into it. That and the atmosphere is spot on, too.

Or, you know, East European. The Soviet Union doesn't exist any more, you know that right?

Anyway, I'm currently the only vote for Clear Sky. I just love the faction wars aspect, rather than the strongly mission based stuff. It is very hard though, but I see that as a plus.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s and Metro 2033 are Ukrainian, Red Orchestras are American.
I have not played a Russian FPS and I never will, so, no vote.

Does Singularity count as Russian themed? Pretty sure most of the menus were written in the Russian language until you highlighted their options and such.

Recommendations from a Russian guy - forget about it, our country isn't that interesting. Also, I was about to criticize the shit out of you for calling Red Orchestra and S.T.A.LK.E.R Russian FPS games since one is made in the USA and the other is Ukrainian, but since you've said Russian-themed, I can't complain.

All of them are very fine specimen. I also recommend CoD 1 - not Russian-themed, our front is only 1/3 of the game, but it's easily the best part of it.

And Singularity, I guess.
