Get the power! Nintendo Power!

I used to use cheats and walkthroughs, now just walkthroughs suffice (if I even need em).

I use a walkthrough. It's pretty rare for me to EVER use a cheat code unless I've already finished the game one or two times.

I used a walkthrough for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune once because I didn't know where to jump.
As did I, however I had a time constraint. So I didn't have time to be stuck.

Walkthrough for me, and 99% of the time I read the section I'm on and go "Oh for fuck's sake" as it's something so trivial I didn't try it or something so unbelievably stupid I want to take the disc to a belt sander.

Take a break, use a walk through if you need, but don't cheat, it's better to not beat a game fairly than to beat it cheating.

I find when I have to rage quit a game, that when I come back to it later I find that part easier to beat, like your mind subconsciously figures out new strategies and such while you don't play. Breaks in video games helps you grow, straight playing is just stupid, you veg out and your mind turns to mush, plus you get pasty white and fat :p

I absolutely use walkthroughs, particularly in jrpgs because they tend to do a bad job giving you hints.

Prime example, Baten Kaitos origins had a level were the room was flooded and you need to drain it to move on, how do you do it, you have to move the entire wall by pushing against it, making the room bigger. I wouldn't have thought of it without the walkthourgh because it is ridiculously implausible. Usually if i cant figure it out I just want to move on.

See, I'm always paranoid that I'm gonna miss a side quest or something and end up not getting the exp/reward/story bonus or whatnot. So I use walkthroughs to make sure I've done everything in an area before I move on.

It's like I paid money for this thing I'm gonna do everything there is to be done. And yes I'll look for tips and things on difficult areas.

Both, for things like modding max inventory space, making sure the starting money is significant, and finding every damn pixelhunt-novelty there is.
I'm not playing for the challenge, i have life for that.
Gaming needs to be fun and to me be an interactive movie where the protagonist doesn't die unless its scripted or needs to run back and forth to his crib to stash that handfull of items half of his playtime.
I'm there for the story and if the current longplays for sandbox RPG's wouldn't be so inefficient, i'd watch them instead!

I usually get only stuck with puzzles and about nine times out of ten after watching the respective part of the walkthrough I think I could have done it myself, but it's just so tempting to quickly look up the solution and proceed. And in one out of ten cases the solution is so over-the-top ridiculous that I'm happy I didn't spend hours running in circles.

I usually have a wide range of tolerance for games but there are just times when I've tried and tried and nothing has worked out for me. So when pushed into a corner, do you use a walkthrough or a cheat code?
Perseverence, Mr Shinigami, sir, perseverence.
That and dog gone stubborness. I'm a masochist also, that helps.

I used to use cheat for the ps2, but not anymore, i dont depend on them, specially since they block achievments, so I go with the walktroughts.

Im usually prepared for these kinds of things but tedious collecting or secrets that aren't supposed to be figured out alone, I use walkthroughs for.

I had no choice but to look up a walkthrough for the Bahamut Eidolon fight in FF13. Still can't beat him. He attacks so damn fast, and hits everyone for a massive amount of damage. It's just not fair.
who's was that one?

I will stick at it until I get through. I do refer to walkthroughs but only if I am really stuck or can't find something. Walkthroughs and game wiki sites can be a boon as the first time I played through Fallout 3 and Mass Effect I'd logged a fair amount of game time and thought I'd done the lot. In both cases I realised I'd not even seen what half the games had to offer!

I think the only time I've "cheated" was during a Fallout 3 game. With Broken Steel there is a particular mission (I'm trying not to give too much away, just in case) in the Presidential Underground where several Ghoul Reavers (Gaaaaahhh!) glitch and spaz out for a few seconds when shot. This is annoying as they are invincible in this time and not even a FatMan blast can scratch them. I'd just hit a massive group with a FatMan and killed the lot bar the two Reavers who were flailing around like they were wired up to the mains so I hit them again. Still no joy so I figured I wasn't going to get past thanks to this bloody glitch and so I opened up the console and used the "kill" command on them both.

I'm not sure if that counts as cheating or not because, as I said, I'd just whacked them with TWO FatMan blasts and they were still giving it the full on Disco Fever Glitch. By rights they should be dead.

Yes, I did check. It IS a glitch and only seems to affect reavers in that particular area.

Walkthrough. Cheating is basically a thing of the past. Sadly, that includes the awesome cheats (like badguys explode into tires or something) along with the bad ones (be invincible online).

I've used walkthroughs before, but only after repeated tries.

I don't use cheats cuz they might be fun for 10 mins but then they just make everything dull. I enjoy a challenge in the games I play. No challenge, no play.

Actually, I've used neither in the past 5 years, so I may just be past them altogether!
