Saints Row 4 in the lead at this early stage? That is a suprise.

I can't help but think the "Both are great" option is a bit of a cop-out though.

SR4 felt like DLC.

GTA5's map felt too damn empty, and the characters were a chore to deal with.

Well since there is no sign of a PC port of GTA 5 my vote would have been Saints Row 4.

You can't really compare the two games, one is balls to the wall insanity staring The President of the United States with Keith David as VP and superpowers, while the other has two feet firmly planted on the ground of realism.

I'm watching a let's play of GTA V, I've finished Saints Row 4 and GTA just looks too restrictive, gritty and the characters are dicks. I don't like dicks, I would not like to play as one. Saints Row 4 is funny, light and you have super powers!

When you can't compare them, it's not. Can we please stop comparing GTA V and SR IV? They are nothing alike! If you asked me if I preferred Sleeping Dogs over GTA V, I'd give an answer, but not in this case.

Saying one of these two is better than the other is like saying tragedy is more important than comedy, or vice versa.
I dunno, they're both games. It's possible to say that one had a better/more positive experience/reaction from one than the other and draw some manner of conclusion from that.

I mean if you were to ask me, I dunno, whether I liked Burnout Paradise over XCom: Enemy Unknown then I would be able to say no because I like XCom more, even though they are very different games and I'd be happy buying them both for the same money.

Also I'd go so far as to say it is possible to argue that one enjoys tradgedies more than comedy or vise versa. One could say; "I love a good comedy but I've got a real hard-on for sadness porn."

SNAP QUESTION: Which are better; apples or rhinoceros?

It's a surprise seeing Saints row 4 leading at the moment of posting. I guess GTA5's players are too busy playing the game.

GTA V punishing me for having fun, side activities are boring, 3 main characters doesn't work for me.
Yeh i enjoyed SR4 more than GTA V. Still GTA V pretty great if you do nothing but story missions.

Saints Row 4 purely because that game doesn't take itself so damn seriously. GTA V was kinda pretentious, "LOOK AT US! WE'RE SO REALISTIC ERMAGHERD" I got tired of that.

That's ridiculous. How is an apple going to eat a rhinoceros? Osmosis?

The only way it could possibly work would be if it was some manner of stealth apple that took root in the rhino's stomach after it got eaten and grew inside, using the rhino for sustenance until it's trunk burst out the top.

A superhero parody game versus a gritty gangster game? Why would you compare two vastly different games like that?

I'd give Saints Row 3 an up over GTA5, but Saints Row 4 kind of blows out its sandbox too quickly, and lacks some level of depth (as someone above mentioned, feeling much like the DLC it originally started as). GTA V for its part does have some glaring issues (a ton of AI derping, and the silly (and unchangeable) control scheme), and a lot of its sandbox material barely qualifies as actual gameplay.

Saints Row IV was a great game, but I got through it in a weekend. Well, within 4 days at the most. I still haven't finish, and am still enjoying, GTAV.
Of course, as stated, they're only similar in that they're open world city games.
If Saints Row had retained the better elelments of SR2, it would be a fair comparison. And if it retained the raw brutality of it, then it probably would have one.

For the love of all things great and small...

Saints Row IV did not START out as DLC. It was being developed as it's own entity after SR3 released, and then in a final response, the elements of the Enter The Dominatrix DLC meant for Saint Row The Third were absorbed into main game, which then was changed around more to cater to the newfound posibilities of adding super powers. The ETD mission pack AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE on SR3, is being released as the first expansion for SR4.

No I'm not linking references to site my statements...do it for yourself.

That said, the only similarities between GTA and SR are that they're open world sandbox games at this point. Volition intentionally veered away from being like GTA which was the primary complaint of SR1 and 2, and when they did (surprise, surprise) people complained about it being too UNlike GTA (tongue in cheek, unrealistic, slapstick, etc.) I swear some people just need to stop playing video games and find some hobby that actually entertains them rather than stick to one where whether things go one way or the other they're still going to ***** about it.

Which one I prefer...different games, different styles. So yeah, both. Am I SUPPOSED to like one over the other? How about enjoying whatever game I choose to plunk out money for regardless of whether or not it's similar to something else?

(The preceeding rant isn't aimed at anyone in general.)

There was signs of a PC version, but my threads kept being abandoned for being too "obvious."

They found many leaks on the PC version, and a lot were actually interesting. However, no one cared. The PC version exists, and most likely its already done if the file leaks from the console versions are true.
No official word then.

And actually, the PC was the base version from the leak files. Not a port. The PC is the main version this time because its so close to the next gen architecture .
I know, things may be looking up.
