If you got stuck in a horror film or novel, what would you least like to have to face?

1. A vengeful spirit: A risen ghost, demon etc. with only one target: you!

2. A zombie horde: The walking, mindless, dead.

3. Mutants or monsters: Creatures that have been transformed or are just big and scary anyway and want to eat anything that moves.

4. Dolls: My personal choice for winner of the scary gold medal, a seemingly innocent and harmless toy with malicious and evil intent. The calcabrina from FF4 are a particularly nasty version of these.

5. Clowns: The garishly dressed, ironically jolly, evil clown!!

6. A murderer: A person who either wants to cause very localised extinction or just feels that you'd be better off with a few extra holes in you.

7. Aliens: Creatures from outer space who may or may not be intelligent but nonetheless don't like us.

I know murderers and aliens don't necessarily fit into 'horror' but they can still be terrifying e.g. 'Alien', 'Saw'

I chose dolls. I just can't stand them.

Clowns... I don't really see it but I know some people are terrified of them.

EDIT: It looks like aliens got chopped off the poll. This is weird. There are two 'option 7's on the edit list...

EDIT: Actually that may have been my browser spazzing; it's back again.

A vengeful ghost, especially ones like the grudge because they can just pop up anywhere and do anything. You can open the kitchen cupboard and BOOM there's the ghost face. Stuff like that scares the crap outta me... or it would if I could still feel fear but after my juvenile trauma thats one emotion that has died forever. Besides after that dream I had where I had a very deep and loving and happy marriage with a Japenese ghost (we also had a son and a daughter) it kind of destroyed the fear factor.

I said a Murderer simply because the first movies to come to mind were The Shining and Gacy. Both seemingly normal people, who were really messed up are the most worrisome to me (as they DO exist)

Zombies are generally scary, mainly because if they were applied to real life, there'd be millions of them, with family and friends in there too.

I chose dolls. I just can't stand them.

Clowns... I don't really see it but I know some people are terrified of them.
Zombies you can kill, and would remain relatively unharmed in a suit of armor, or a car, or a house with boarded up windows, a boat, or you know a large field full of fluffy bunnies.

Mutants, yeah I can see this, but they are still flesh and blood. Depends on the size really, loads of tiny dog sized killing machines. Give me a shotgun. Slightly larger man sized killing machines, might take a bit better aim, and using a handgun but do able. Giant building sized monster - just avoid being near it, not hard to miss. Man sized monster bent on eating people that is intelligent, that maybe something to fear a bit.

Dolls, Chuckie is about the best they could come up with, and even then he had to be some dead dude who stuck his soul in a doll. More of a vengeful spirit kinda thing.

Clowns would have to have some stupid gimmick, and really the bright outfit and paint job does not really lend itself well to being sneaky. I am also pretty sure I could outrun anything with some ridiculously large shoes on.

A murder is just a man, other people are not something to fear.

Aliens. Ugly intelligent bastards with no care for the sanctity of life. Good thing they are typically little malformed gray bastards. I think anything other then intelligent life would just fall under the monster category.

That just leaves ghosts, which have the most possibility to be frighting of the lot. You can do nothing about them. Nothing to protect your self they are ethereal move through walls, able to take over bodies. The traditional ghost is able to vaguely interact with people and objects but they can do nothing to fight them off, aside from burning bodies or something.

Please don't laugh but I was scared of the ringwraiths from Lord of the Rings. I was like 8 at the time though.

Ashley from Resident Evil 4. It scares me.

But yeah, dolls. Clowns, zombies, aliens... This stuff is fine, just not dolls! There was a Witch Hunter Robin episode with evil dolls (kinda) that I loved for how creepy it was. You haven't seen scary until you've seen a barbie doll holding an Exacto knife.

Murderers, 'cause they're real.

I just found out that someone I was an aquaintance with was kidnapped, raped repeatedly, tortured, and dumped alive into a trash can.
And I also knew someone who lived with one of the killers.

*gives fate the finger*

It really depends on how it is done...
Any of those can be the scariest.

I'd probably have to say ghost/demon, though.
Those usually require some weird ritual or solving of a riddle within tight time constraints to get rid of, whereas all the others can, more or less easily, be killed (or in the case of zombies, killed again).

Mutants because you never know if they've mutated an extra hard carapace immune to most attack
+10 to natural armor
