With games I think like this: Why did the developers but [boobs, ass or whatever] here?
The answer if often either 1: The actual game don't sell on it's own so they put boobs on it so someone buy it for those, or 2: The developers is immature and want so show people tits.

Either way I'm not buying it.

For other mediums; No I have no interest in paying to see boobs. I have a girlfriend that do that for free.

Several times I have been to a store and bought things I don't need and will not use, only because the guy who works there is dreamy *sigh*

I've often wondered who these marketers are really addressing myself, since more often than not the product could have stood alone and probably done at least as well without the inclusion of sex. And, though it's a very cliché thing to say, I would have respected the company more.

The one that gets me lately is Reebok's new marketing campaign for womens shoes, I would be very insulted if I were a girl to have the sum of my worth formally reduced to boobs and butt.

btw, that peta add ironically makes me want nothing more than to cure her of vegetarianism. wink, wink.

But what about before the girlfriend?

That's a good question. I want to say I wasn't that interested before but that would be a lie. My opinion of sex in video games haven't changed however.
Still I have never paid for anything sex-related (except condoms) and I think that sums me up pretty good. Interested yes, but not that interested. Sex can wait its turn, no need to rush.

i am so sick of Evony, whenever im reading a forum or playing a game, there is inevitably a woman in an ad with her tits half bare. it is like they are trying to market that game to the pimply nerd who has not seen a naked boob before.

Yeah. The ad doesn't even tell you the name of the fucking game.

Yes. Once or twice. What other reason to play the Leisure Suit Larry games? Even the EGA version of the first installment.

Never sold anything to me before.

Generally if I see it I become weary as it makes me wonder what kind of virus/trojen might be hiding behind it...

With more people complaining about the Evony [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/experienced-points/6825-Experienced-Points-Evony-Irony] ads, I figured now is as good a time as any for this thread. Has an attractive woman/man ever sold you on a product?

Personally, no. I tend to not want the product afterwards, usually.

And yes, the title is a Megadeth thing.

EDIT: Please note, this does not apply to just games, it could be anything. Also, it doesn't have to be the cover, either. It could have a perfectly basic cover, but the ads and trailers just featured the sex.
What about who the product is for? I bought/gifted a corset for a gf long ago.

The question/theme also seems to be a standard viewpoint; what about the times when a guy or girl gets a product based on the perceived sexual nature of the person they want to become? (ex: Girl looking at Victoria's Secret ad who then buys lingerie.)

Well, did they market the corset with a sexy ad? Or did you just go buy the corset?

All... Hail... Hypnotoad...

And no, not if it's only some half naked chick in a game or movie, but porn, now that's something else.

We were both at a Renn Faire, I would consider her trying it on as the advertisement.

In that case, I gotta say no. It's not like it was blatant and intentional.

If it's for a computer game and marketing or anything else includes a big focus on sex for cheap thrills, it drives me away from the product.
