Laces since I'm not fancy enough for anything else. :p

I only own three pairs of shoes, and all but one has laces. Sandals annoy me when I wear them and I'm really not all into the zipping kind since it's just weird to me.

So, laces it is. :D

I heard those self lacing shoes actually exist. And only 100 of them were made.

They're just prop inspired they don't actually self lace from what I understand.

Actually it would be really trivial to make self lacing shoes, or at least shoes with self tightening laces. All you need are strong enough motors in the right places to draw the laces tight. But be prepared for technical issues and having to replace batteries a lot with such shoes.

My favorite pair of shoes was a pair of New Balance minimus "life" shoes I had for a couple of years until about a year ago. I didn't care for the color (various grays), but they were slip on, with no laces, and they were VERY comfortable to walk around it. Easily the best shoe I've ever owned, and of course New Balance discontinued it because I guess nice things just can't ever last.

After that I now wear a different New Balance minimus shoe. The color scheme is much nicer (mostly black and blue), they have laces, and they were pretty stiff when I first wore them and not nearly as comfortable as the life models were without socks. However, with socks they are still very comfortable and these shoes are actually designed for athletic activity, so I can wear them when running even though that rarely happens. The Navy technically forbids minimal-style shoes for PT, but these look almost identical to regular tennis shoes so nobody notices. I will probably stick with minimus shoes for a long time, as they really feel much better on my feet than thick-ass soled tennis shoes I used to wear.

Also, for laces, I just tie your regular bow-knot then add an extra knot with the bow parts. My laces have never loosened or come undone on any shoes I've done this with, and I've been doing it since I was 7 years old (I'm 25 now).

I prefer shows that have nothing. I hate tying knots and the sound of velcro annoys me. These are the types of shoes that I wear.http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71xiSCgPueL._UX575_.jpg

They are kinda pricey but they are nice and comfortable shoes.

Personally ever since I figured out how to do it I've used laces, though I wear shoes with zippers for a while in middle school. However, for the last few years I've gotten lazy as shit and will just toss on a pair of sandles if I'm heading out 90% of the time unless I know I'm going to be doing a lot of walking around or am going to be in thecar for a good while.

Laces break? - Use paracord.
They get undone? - You're tying a granny knot.
They take time? - Try Ian knot.

I personally do a double starting knot, then this thing. So far, they have never come undone.
I just stick my laces into my shoes and make sure to check if they've come back out every now and then. Really helps if you've got really long laces.

The only footwear I have is laced. Three pairs of boots and two pairs of sneakers (yes, I'm an Aussie who owns no thongs. Fuck any kind of flippy-floppy shoes, 'ya hear?!). I just prefer the look and feel of laced shoes (boots in particular though). The only problem with them is when I go to a mate's house and have to take them off at the door. Un-tying and re-tying them up every time you enter or leave their house is a bit annoying.

I actually like lace-up shoes. Sure it can be time consuming some times but there's a feeling I can't quite put into words for tying your shoes with a good strong knot and heading out for the day.
On the other hand I do own a pair of slip on shoes for those times where you just step out for a moment, or aren't walking much.

I'm not too bothered really, but I guess it's worth noting I'm almost always wearing boots with zips on the side.
(And I don't mean 'boots' as in slightly large shoes, no I mean real, proper, they come halfway up your thighs kind of boots)

Velcro if it wasn't a social no-no and it lasted longer. Essentially we need a new type of higher grade Velcro.
Laces give a good fit, but they are the most awkward and time consuming shit on the planet.
Everything else just fits badly and gets worse over time.

Best I got are some lace + zipper work boots. You zip them up and lace it tight so shit feels nice an snug, then you never need to touch those laces again, the boots open and close with the zipper, very quick, very easy, fits like a glove every time with lots of room when taking them off or putting them on.
Still I would take a reinforced Velcro type strap over anything else, or better yet an automated system.

I generally wear hiking shoes. (Despite not getting to do any hiking these days.) They invariably come with laces. They last for ages and I like the ankle support.

I don't think I've ever seen men's footwear with buckles or zips. Only women's boots.

...

I've seen velcro shoes too, but I always assumed they were just for children.

I prefer shoes and boots that slip on, but I also like velcro and zips. I don't like anything that requires me to concentrate on it such as laces.

I'm having alot of trouble acquiring acceptable boots at the moment. I want something that goes up past my calves, has a flat, flexible sole and is made of brown leather. Something like these would be acceptable if I could find them in adult sizes.

Mocasin boots would also do, but they are usually too expensive and don't come in mens sizes.

It all depends. For boots, I prefer to have ankle length ones with zips, but for trainers, I tend to go for ones with laces. I really don't like slip on shoes, and I can't stand sandals and flip flops.

You too? I don't think I even own a pair of 'normal' shoes.

There are some jump boots that have zips (I don't like them). Yugoslav army boots have normal lacing but the upper flap is secured with buckles.

Laces. I tried slip on shoes before but found them very uncomfortable. Then again, average temps here are close to 30c, so I just wear a pair of these most of the time:

Only footwear I own is a pair of 8-inch, steel-toed combat boots that are laced up tight from bottom to top. Never really cared enough to consider other methods of keeping my shoes on as laces have always worked just fine.

I have pair of shoes, shoes, converse and boots.

The Shoes are slip on, the converse have laces, but I've laced them in such a way that they have become slip ons and boots which have laces.

Typically I'm too lazy to tie laces everyday, hence spending the extra effort to make the converse slip ons, effort once > everyday task.

I guess I prefer slip ons, though I buy shoes with laces in reality and just make them slip ons.
