Obesity itself should not be considered a disability. Certain glandular problems (thyroid, te cetera) which can cause malnourishment and obesity even in people with perfectly healthy lifestyles, on the other hand, should.

No, even if they are gentically predisposed to it. They can still work hard and lose weight. I can't work hard and lose my cerebral palsy.
That's not how disabilities work. There are people with physical injuries who can work them off with physical therapy. Unless/until that happens they are still disabled.

Deaf people are still disabled even if they can get a cochlear implant and choose not to.
Explain to me how I cure the semi-paralysis on the right side of my body.

No, no, no.

I refuse to enable the majority of the human population to get special perks, sit around on welfare and get fatter while I'm working my ass off to support their fat one.

No. Fucking. Way.

If I sound like some elitist skinny snob, then let me set you straight: I'm 5' 10", female and weigh 260 pounds. Technically, I AM considered 'obese'. I work hard, I love outdoor and physical activities. What screws me over for losing weight, ironically, is that I don't eat regularly enough. I have one meal a day, which isn't good no matter WHAT it is that you're eating, but I can't help it: I feel like I'm going to throw up if I try to eat when I don't feel hungry.

If someone literally has no choice, cannot drop the weight and cannot look after themselves/ need medical help. Well, they deserve some help from the government. Especially so if it's not their fault, i.e: Bought on by medical issues, insanely bad genetics, etc. etc.
Not to say that everyone should live only one certain way, everyone is entitled to do whatever they want to their bodies, but it's when they complain about what they've done to themselves, i.e: Bloody cheeseburgers and not moving further than to their kitchen to get another snack, refuse to change and demand money for their own idiocy that makes me sick (moreso as I come from a home living off of disability benefits due to my father and it's already hard enough to get into the system even when you're genuinely deserving).

People like these are not disabled:

People with thyroid issues brought on through inchangable genes, causing weight control to be near impossible, is.

No, cause you can do something about it. Its as simple as that. In fact, and I wish I remember who said it, we should give them spots way in the back of parking lots or other places and make them work off that fat to get somewhere.

You can't work towards growing legs.

You can work towards losing weight, it's a hard fucking journey, but you can get there.

OP: No.

Nope and I think Ricky Gervais says my views pretty well
Now, I'm slightly overweight myself but me being a lazy fuck who likes to eat isn't a disability because I could go exercise if I wanted to but I don't.

I don't know, but I do know physical therapy can work for some things.

But the point is that even if you choose not to be cured, you're still disabled.
I see your point now. I thought you were saying therapy could cure cerebral palsy. Yeah, video games and therapy have given me as functional a arm as possible.

No, 95% of fat people are fat because they chose to be that way, they chose to not exercise and not eat healthy.

Again disability is not dependent on choice.

Some deaf people choose not to get a cochlear implant that will allow them to hear. They are still consider disabled.
I said 95%. The disability is for that "glandular problem".
Barring defects in the body, even if one is susceptible to genetic problems, obesity can still be overcome, I come from a long line of fat bastards, but I run daily and lift to keep healthy

In short no.

In long you can loose weight if your fat you can't suddenly stand if your paralyzed. However money towards say a free gym membership, a gym where only other fat people are allowed (I think it would lessen the embaressment of going to the gym) and they are forced to go at least once a week i'd be okay with. Especially if I got to open a bakery next door.

No. If you're fat, the LAST thing you need is less exercise. This is common fucking sense.

For Christs Sake, no wonder my country is so goddamn fat is people are thinking about obesity this way. "Disablity".....for christ's.....I am trying so hard not to rant right now. And this is coming from someone who...Well, I'm not morbidly obese or anything, but I carry a little wieght. You know what I'm doing about it? I GO TO A FUCKING GYM!! TO LOOSE WEIGHT!!! BECAUSE I DON'T MIND DOING SOME FUCKING WORK IN MY LIFE!!! GOD FUCKING DAMN-OK, ok. I'm done. It's all good.

More truthful words have not been spoken. I'm the same way.
I'm rather overweight. I could very easily lose my gut, but I don't. I'm not disabled, I'm lazy and enjoy a bit too much food.

If they're one of those 800-4500 pound Hutts that keep appearing on the health and national geographic channels, I'd consider them disabled until the liposuction scars heal.

you do not have an excuse to be obese. Treat fat people the way you would a smoker or alcoholic.
There are genes that make people fat, and some medical conditions that result in gaining weight.
The genes identified are associated with appetite control and so can be overidden by the voluntary control of the brain. So you can have a predisposition to become obese but that is not the sole reason for obesity. There are only a very small proportion of people with medical conditions that result in weight gain eg. thyroid problems so this does not account for the percentage of people who are obese in the general population.

A cochlear implant is a surgical procedure that carries risks, so it is not just a simple matter of choosing whether or not you are able to hear.

Each case should be considered on an individual basis. No I don't think that people who are obese should be subject to the same benefits as people with diablities.
