Explain to me how I cure the semi-paralysis on the right side of my body.Father Time said:That's not how disabilities work. There are people with physical injuries who can work them off with physical therapy. Unless/until that happens they are still disabled.RedEyesBlackGamer said:No, even if they are gentically predisposed to it. They can still work hard and lose weight. I can't work hard and lose my cerebral palsy.
Deaf people are still disabled even if they can get a cochlear implant and choose not to.
I see your point now. I thought you were saying therapy could cure cerebral palsy. Yeah, video games and therapy have given me as functional a arm as possible.Father Time said:I don't know, but I do know physical therapy can work for some things.RedEyesBlackGamer said:Explain to me how I cure the semi-paralysis on the right side of my body.Father Time said:That's not how disabilities work. But the point is that even if you choose not to be cured, you're still disabled.
I said 95%. The disability is for that "glandular problem".Father Time said:RamirezDoEverything said:No, 95% of fat people are fat because they chose to be that way, they chose to not exercise and not eat healthy.Again disability is not dependent on choice.PoliceBox63 said:You can't work towards growing legs.
You can work towards losing weight, it's a hard fucking journey, but you can get there.
OP: No.
Some deaf people choose not to get a cochlear implant that will allow them to hear. They are still consider disabled.
More truthful words have not been spoken. I'm the same way.KefkaCultist said:Nope and I think Ricky Gervais says my views pretty well
Now, I'm slightly overweight myself but me being a lazy fuck who likes to eat isn't a disability because I could go exercise if I wanted to but I don't.
The genes identified are associated with appetite control and so can be overidden by the voluntary control of the brain. So you can have a predisposition to become obese but that is not the sole reason for obesity. There are only a very small proportion of people with medical conditions that result in weight gain eg. thyroid problems so this does not account for the percentage of people who are obese in the general population.Father Time said:There are genes that make people fat, and some medical conditions that result in gaining weight.irani_che said:no
you do not have an excuse to be obese. Treat fat people the way you would a smoker or alcoholic.
A cochlear implant is a surgical procedure that carries risks, so it is not just a simple matter of choosing whether or not you are able to hear.Father Time said:That's not how disabilities work.
