The same could be said for every product on the planet. For example; People die and get major injuries from car accidents every day. Should vehicles be banned?

Black Friday is a major economy boost, and helps keep some business in business, which in turn helps people have jobs.

Black Friday isn't killing people, the idiots who would trample someone to get a deal are.

Removing Black Friday might have some benefits, it also has giant drawbacks. Dealing with the people who would literally kill someone to buy something half off has no drawbacks.

Alcohol, cigarettes, dieting, yoga, being stupid. I would challenge anyone to run out of things to ban because they hurt people.

Don't think so. It would hurt the consumers and the retailers, which would in turn hurt the gov't......don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon. And it's not like Black Friday has been "officially" delegated as the day where everything gets steep discounts. It's more of a social occurrence than an official one, and you can't really ban social events.

Probably, but at least come to some sort of compromise. The worst part is all the retail employees that are forced to come into work at 5am after Thanksgiving and cannot go spend the holiday with families or they will immediately terminated. Most retail stores now make you sign an agreement at hire that states you have to work that day and basically give up your holiday or be fired. Remember that the next time you are shopping on that day and see a retail employee that looks either really depressed or frustrated, its because they can't spend time with their families so you can buy a cheap TV.

Since it's not an official event there isn't a way to ban it. And if the Government started telling Business' what days they could and couldn't offer deals people would go ape-shit over that. When shopping people just need to be more restrained

I don't think Black Friday should be banned but should instead have certain precautions in place as to prevent injury and death. One way to prevent this is via online purchases.

Black Friday? I've always known it as the last Fri before Crimbo, known throughout the bar industry as a hellish shift full of office folk (and particularly those who don't go out much during the rest of the year) finishing work, getting plastered and being pains in the lower back.

So I'm assuming that you use it for something else.

Nah, I don't think it should be banned. Works alright as is, what we need to do is kill every mutha fucker whom goes crazy during it. First people in line at walmart at 2 am? Cyanide. Women tearing apart clothing at the rack, bullet to the brain. Fathers standing aside letting their wives go crazy for these mad...mad savings? Brick to the nads. You get what I"m say? Don't punish the retailers for making their endsmeat. Punish the idiots whom go insane over deals that would be greater still come the following week but no one pays attention...

Not sure if serious.

I mean, seriously. do you know what black Friday does for the US economy? Or for stores in general? Black Friday and Christmas are the two msot relied on times of the year to pull yourself into the green, while the rest of the year you waste away in the red (at least thats how it was at theatre I worked in).

So no. People die in the streets every day from stuff. hell, people die in celebrations after the World Cup, or the Stanley Cup, or the Super Bowl.

i don't think it is Black Friday that is the problem, its the dumb ass people who feel that they should trample a human being because they want a few bucks off on their new TV. business is just trying to give people more of what they want, so they shouldn't be blamed people are killed.

I don't think it should be focused solely on a single day.

They should do a week and focus different items on the sales across each day. It'd cut down on crowds somewhat.

Black Friday itself will never be banned. Too lucrative in terms of taxes gained off of it.

I absolutely love Black Friday! :D

But ever since I started working I haven't been able to go shopping on those days. :( I got some really awesome deals in the past! Hoping I'll be able to go this year!

I don't think it should be banned, but I think that they should, to some extent at least, have stores be held at least partly accountable for injuries and deaths that occur at their stores. Obviously it's not entirely their fault, but at the same time they're also encouraging the behavior - they need to have a better system in place, like online ticket lines, ticket raffles, something like that, to keep people from stampeding into places (particularly the big stores, Walmart, Target, those kinds of places) and I can't think of any other way to make them come up with such things aside from holding them responsible.

Personally, though, I've done one Black Friday event at a Best Buy. It wasn't great, and I don't plan on doing it again, but at least they kept the crowds orderly.

That's a very good idea!

No, sure if Black Friday DID get phased out of existence you wouldn't see me mourning or anything, but I don't really see any gain to be had by banning it.. But perhaps it would be a good idea for some of the larger stores to post a touch more security on that day. I mean this last year I heard that someone actually pulled a gun on another customer.

no, but Rebeca Black - Friday should be.

They should just remind people to settle down, and probably hire security guards.

Black Friday being banned would just move big shopping methods to something else. Heck this happens on big console releases. Having said that what DOES need to happen is stores need to step up practices to assure this kind of thing dosen't happen, the "mad dash" when doors are opened is unacceptable.
