I mahself is a Bad Company man (Southern accent). But I feel liek MW2 is systematically better than it, but is ruined by it's own community. I can't go into many games without facing campers, so, should the next one feature a system to punish campers, like, no kill streaks, or, half damage, like in Dissidia with Chaos rules, how if you didn't move after a while you would become stunned. Should the next one have something like that?

Camping is a strategy of it's own really.

If they're camping in a house, throw grenades before attacking.

If they're out in the open they're easy pickings.

Just counter their style of camping then stick a claymore there once they're dead.

Mehh I think freezing them for a bit wouldn't work.

I mostly just don't get bothered by them but that may be because I don't play cod.

I'm not a CoD player, so feel free to shoot me down if I'm wrong on this, but shouldn't it be down to the players to punish campers? I mean, if the guy's sitting in one spot, he shouldn't be hard to kill, right?

Camping is a strategy, that is true. But I think other factors play into promoting campers, such as the thought of not dying to get a killstreak. The map design should be made so it is easy to punish campers but still possible to do so.

And never underestimate the power of a smoke grenade. Those things completely neutralise a camper, yet barely anyone ever uses them. Just pop one in front of them and they're forced to relocate.

However, while camping is a regular strategy, MW2 rewards it over teamplay. This is, I think, a very bad thing. It heavily rewards hugging a corner and just spamming everyone who passes by, even if you ignore the objective. No matter how well you play as a team, you can still loose against a shitty team that has óne camper. Most of the regular disadvantages of camping are not there in MW2.

In general though there's no reason to punish campers, there are enough tactics to deal with them. The reason why they're such a pain in MW2 is the game's fault, not the tactic's fault.

They're not hacking the game. They're not exploiting a glitch. They're playing by the same rules as you are. Why punish them for it...? rht

this is not as bad as the grenade launcher. people abuse the fact they can pick up ammo off of corpses, therefor getting a never ending kill streak. you cant kill them unless u can surprise them, and even then....

I think a "camping penalty" is just lazy game design. If you don't want campers, design your maps/gameplay accordingly.

Of course, people will still camp (it's not illegeal) but great level design would reduce it.

That's why I play TF2 - it's still possible to be camped, but that only happens if you're team is utterly outmatched.

What I hate is guys who sit in a corner of a small room the whole game and wait for someone to walk by and then knife them(hardcore camping). However, I think it's okay to stay aimed down your sight, prone, looking down a hallway, though. That's just good strategy.

I don't necessarily think that campers should be 'punished' per se. That being said, things like using scavenger to get an infinite supply of 40mm grenades seem like something they should take out. But you know, I'm not a game designer, I have no idea what kinds of problems they go through making maps.

Just my two cents

No.

But it should not punish rushers either, like the other COD games do.

Also it should not punish players for having crap team-mates. Limit the killstreaks and fix the spawns.

Besides, you could argue that campers are punishing themselves by not enjoying the game as much. Sure, you probably get more points, but camping just isn't as fun.
