I'm heading off to college and as much as I love gaming I sort of want to put it on hold for a bit until I get settled in and stuff. Should i hold off on gaming for a little bit and then work it back into my usual routine. Quite honestly, I do not think I will have much time for gaming seeing as how Engineering is a shit-load of work and boy do I need a girlfriend.

EDIT: I am a good student, currently floating around 20/350ish in my class with a 3.7 GPA and a good work ethic. However, I'm not the most outgoing guy out there. Around my friends and where I feel comfortable I am extremely outgoing and my rapist wit gets quite a few laughs among my peers.

EDIT: why yes...of course I meant RAPIER wit...do you think I'm that dumb?

[sub][sub] whew, they almost caught me there... [/sub][/sub]

Heck yeah, 360 is built for college kids. Plus it's better to have it and not want it than the reverse.

You should hold off on it. For one, you're going to want to focus more on studies than on fun and gaming. Second, you want to make sure it doesn't get stolen...

So yea, that's my two cents on that.

I brought my Wii to college with me.

Best decision to make friends.

Super Smash Bros Brawl = The instant cool guy on the dorm floor.

I'd say go for it.

I say hold onto it for a little while. If you live close by to wherever you are keeping it, then you could pick it back up later in the year.

Bring it. After you're done with your assignments, you can host a party, play on Live, or make a Let's Play... if you want to.

yeah, this is my plan seeing as how I live a good 20 mins away from where I'm going to college. I'm going to be in Boston, so it's not like I'm afraid of leaving home, trust me, I want out!

Absolutely not, don't do it. If you're even slightly outgoing you can make friends in college. After all, everyone is new, and everyone wants to make friends, you don't need an Xbox to share interests with the people around you. And even if you're not (outgoing), the RA's in college dorms jam people together with ridiculous things to bring people closer together, so don't worry about meeting people. But the most important thing is, there's a lot of downtime in college - time between classes, time between meals, time that you realize you don't have to do anything you had to do at home, so it can be very tempting to spend that time with a little Xbox and a few friends, but that's how you get on academic probation your first quarter away from home. Besides, with the (I assume) new college town, new people, and things to go out and experience your first time away from home, why would you want to be constrained to your room and miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience?

Absolutely NOT!!, considering you like gaming to the point of being a member of this forum, you will not have the self control to divide your time properly LOL!!

Believe me I have seen several dropouts due to excessive gaming here in college and its not pretty. My advice; leave it at home!

I would suggest taking it to college with you. There may be days where you are really bored and just want to play video games. If it could cause you to ignore homework than I would suggest not taking it.

I brought my DS to college. It has been one of the biggest waste of my time and also one of my most enjoyable activites. Would leaving it have made me focus more on work? Maybe. Would leaving it have seriously cramped my ability to have fun? Maybe. What you need to decide now is how serious you are about this college thing. If you are determined to do well regardless of temptaions or distractions, it will not matter if you bring the 360 along. (just be sure to have a schedule, and that it is not 4 hours of gaming and 1 of homework.)

I did not have a 360 at all first semester. My roommate then brought his second semester. I went first semester wishing I had a 360 to play and now I haven't touched it since like the second week back and haven't really regretted it.

Yes.

However, if your grades slip, put your xbox away. I put my PS3 away to avoid the temptation of video games during exams.

I brought mine with me to university, while it's great for passing time and having a laugh with friends it's -really- bad for my work. I'm basically gonna have to resitmy first year because of it. If you have the will to not be on it all the time and work hard then go for it. Otherwise, don't risk it.

Lots of people bring their game systems with them to college, if you like playing your 360 bring it along with you, unless you're a serious gaming addict you won't really have to worry about it distracting you to the point that it's detrimental.

Oohhh, well allow me to welcome you to the city then. (I don't actually live in Boston, but I hopefully plan to move there after I finish college myself)
