I don't know about America (I assume that's where you're from seeing as you said "college"..

But in England, I'm at Uni doing Japanese & German with Anthropology.. I'm doing 1 1/2 courses, and still have a large amount of free time (excluding time spent on assignments)

Xboxes make socialising easy. Just bring packs of beer, people flood in. Great as well just chilling with your mates in the same fashion. Or just chilling.

At Uni, the work is damn hard after 1st year, and after 1 year or constantly doing assignments the day before deadline, you soon learn to actually manage your time. All it takes is 1 year of stress at looming deadlines. But 1st year is a doss anyway, so there is no problem.

I brought mine, never had a problem. You learn to juggle fun & work at Uni. I guess that's most of the education you learn.. fuck the degree, that is 60% meaningless.. what you learn at Uni are life skills, just like this- micro/time managing, priorities etc.

So bring it. Even if you don't play it for months on end, at least its there for when you have time off & chill with mates.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I'm in engineering also and I highly recommend that you DON'T bring it.
LOL amen bro!

In Engineering, Physics, Math or Geology(my only points of reference) you wont have time to go even have lunch in some cases.

Id hate to be the one bringing this up but...You are and Engineering student now, soon video games will begin taking less and less time in your daily life, to the point in which you wont be able to touch the Xbox for weeks. (if you want to do good in class that is)

Welcome to Hell... :D *don't worry there's cookies here!

It's kinda funny, engineering started to become a game for engineering. Some of my favourites are "how long can I keep my sanity?", "Can I sleep in past 830am?", "Will I talk to an attractive female today?". Hell, I love summer.

If you want to make friends with guys, take it.

If you want to make friends with girls, don't take it.

Yeah, it's an extremely broad generalization, but that was my experience at college at least. I played games religiously beforehand but I gave it up for my freshman year; I can't imagine getting involved in the social activities or meeting the people that I did if I was busy playing games all the time.

Sure, it was hard to resist getting involved in a few Halo 2 tournaments, but I ended up meeting a lot more women than the guy who could pull of jumping twisting headshots with a sniper rifle.

You can make due either way, so it's up to you.

Do it! You might not use it much but once in a while you'll probably be bored and thankful it's there.

It depends on the area that you are in. If it is a safe area, bring it, as you'll have a lot more fun than if you don't.

If the area has a high crime rate, you might want to think about leaving it at home.

You seriously had to go and change that line from hamlet. seriously... cerial... frosted flakes.

anyways you should bring it because sometime when you have nothing to do, no school work, no to hang out/go out with, you will want to play a game. Even if it's for half an hour, you will want to play.

I'm in Engineering, a bad student and have 3 (of my own 5 total) video game systems set up in my Dorm. It's truly up to you but if your anything like me it's a bad decision. Not that i ever let that stop me. And it's not like many of your new friends at college won't have their systems here. In fact on of the Engi Honors frats sponsors LAN parties every semester.

DON'T DO IT!

unless you really want to.

I spend far more time playing games than I ought to. I maintain a very high GPA regardless, but the price I pay is that I am generally exhausted. I probably net less than 40 hours of sleep in a week on average, much of which is on weekends.

Also, as a strange aside, it turns out my four year university considers Computer Science to be one of the Natural Sciences. While it makes sense to a degree (this is the same field that contains math afterall), any other university I've ever heard of considers it an engineering disclipline. Just thought I'd throw that out there because I always thought I'd be an engineer but instead get to be a scientist.

Take it from my personal experiance... i brought it to college with me and while it is a great tool for meeting people, unless you have great study habits you will be spending some valuable study time playing that and your grades will suffer. i would say wait about a month maybe too and get settled in then bring it up. was about the same type of student as you and my first semester went really bad... almost academic probabtion. but i left it home the next semester and now i am one A away from a 4.0... so just wait till you get a routine in then bring it in... hope that helps and good luck in college!

Around my friends and where I feel comfortable I am extremely outgoing and my rapist wit gets quite a few laughs among my peers.
I hope you meant Rapier...oh I see what you did there...right?

I say it depends on if you have a roommate, I read too many roommate confessions on college humour to trust having my stuff where someone else also has immediate access. That said, I have my x-box in my room and I live in a college-esque situation, I rarely seem to play it often or alone, when I do it's something COOP or versus with housemates.

I wanted to bring mine, but I'm a bio major, so I have no more time. I make do with brief Team Fortress and Left 4 Dead 2 sessions on the computer.

However, remember that security will be a risk. A friend of mine had his PS3 stolen just a week ago, right out of his apartment.

And by the way... rapist wit? You mean rapier, right? Or do you mean you make jokes... while... raping things...

I was wondering too because the school where I'm going is about 500km away from where my parents live. And I ain't gonna visit my parents every weekend with that kind of a distance so I guess I have to take my PS3, hd-tv and PC with me. Just hoping there ain't too many thieves..
