Poll: Should I buy a Xbox 360, or a PS3?

And before you ask, NO, I am not trying to start a VS thread. I'm not asking which one is better or worse, I just sincerely want to get your opinion on which console I should get. YES I do realize that there are other threads on this and I'm sure you get this question all the time on the Escapist, but I really do need to know which one I should get.

Anyways,
I guess I'm what you'd call an ace of all games. I'll play anything as long as its fun. Except for Sports games.
But I do like driving games. :3

I'm mostly a computer gamer, and I've played anything from Doom to Dragon Age.
I'm currently playing MW2, Sc2 Beta and HoN (Hero's of Newerth) Beta, and now some more Diablo 2. Seriously, i'm really not that picky about the type of game I play, so the game types won't be limiting which console I pick.
I have a new 40 inch HDTV, and I really don't care about the Bluray in the PS3's because the Desktop that i'll be buying will have a Bluray player.

This will be my first console that I actually own. I've played everything up from Nintendo, but it was always my parents. This will TRULY be my first console that is mine.

You have ONE day to decide, Escapist. Tomorrow I will be buying the console.

EDIT: Okay, a few of you seem to think that i've never played either a Ps3 or Xbox 360.
This is definitly NOT the case. I've played both, and I can't decide which I like playing more.

I would go with the ps3 because of alot of good exclusives, and free online.

But why? Explain.
I like everything except for sports games.
But I do like driving games like burnout and gran turismo. :]

A lot of the games are available on both consoles. Look at the console exclusives, and decide which games you like more and pick that console.

Assuming you like a challenge, Demon's Souls and a PS3 will last you a long time, as the replay value is incredible.

Online, if you're into that sort of thing, is also free.

I think you'll be happy with a Playstation. I sure as hell was.

Well, i've heard some iffy things about the Playstation online, and my internet isn't all that great out here. What do you think about the PS3 online compared to the Xbox live?

If the choice is between the PS3 or the 360, just look at the current catalog of games and go with the one that has the most games you like. Buy a console for the games, don't just get a console and then see what games it has.

PS3. i have both and i use the PS3 more cos online play is free. don't have to sell your soul to XBOX LIVE. XBOX has better exclusives though so it all depends on your online needs.

PS3, Most of the games these days though come out for both system, I like the xbox because it has Mass Effect, but PS3 has all three god of wars, inFamous and the games look better.

I've not seen too much of a difference.

The community, while still ripe with the occasional asshole, is generally more tolerable than that of Xbox Live.
Granted, not as many PS3 users have mics.

From a purely tech. related perspective, it runs fine enough. There are the occasional updates with firmware, but if you can run Live, you'll run PSN.

It's an excellent answer to live, especially when you consider that you're not paying a dime.

I would say which ever you have more friends on. Which would most likely be the 360. But the 360 has been decreasing the past few months. So I chose the PS3.

Plus in order to have a good secure internet access without worries, you would have to pay $200.

If your willing to pay for online and you like the look of Halo Reach and Gears of war etc, buy a 360.

I've had both consoles and I prefer my PS3 but mostly because of the online charges. I loved both consoles but I feel like I'm wasting less money with the PS3. However to some people paying for online is not wasteful, its your opinion and you should not be swayed by what we say here.

Pick out a few games you like the look of and watch some gameplay videos and go from there.

I suggest looking up these games:
Halo Reach
Uncharted 2
Heavy Rain
Alan Wake
Halo ODST
Metal Gear Solid 4

Ypu have a PC so a lot of xbox console exclusives may come out on the PC too which you will most likely be more comfortable with e.g. Mass Effect 2.

Well, when you say better exclusives, what do you mean?
Because I do LOVE God of War, but I really don't ever plan on trying Heavy Rain, or playing R+C again.

But, really. Ps3 has Infamous, and a few other really great ones along side God of War. It's so hard to choose. :/

Most of the good games are on both systems. I would say go with whatever system most of your friends have so you can play them online.

I would say Xbox beacause you like racing games and the xbox has Forza and PGR. I have both consoles and I like the xbox better, better design, better online, don`t have to install games and so on...

Well, I'm really not much of a Halo player, but I did have an Xbox at one time and played Halo 1 and 2 and loved it. Halo three not so much.

Heavy Rain and Alan Wake are basically the same thing, right? Mystery-drama-movieinagamethingamajig?

I've only played one Metal Gear game, and it was pretty good. I should really get more into that series.
