I also asked this question to myself and here's my logic.

I purchased a console that offered me the most entertainment right off the bat with the possibility of growth in the future, Xbox360 (Though my favourtie game genre is RPG and there are woefully few RPGs for this console, but this may change). Rather than the system that hinges on future potential and a Blu-ray player, The PS3.

Exclusive games for either system didn't really sway me, neither did the price tags or online play.

I think I picked the right one for me and I haven't looked back.

Alright no-one's really made a good list of non-violent games for 360 so here goes. (though no-one's made a PS3 one either).

Rock Band 2 (360 instruments are useable with PC, even the wireless ones though you need to buy an adapter. And the 360 version sold better so more on Live).
Scene It!: Box Office Smash (Great game to play with the family/significant other, loads of fun)
Viva Pinata/2
Kingdom of Keflings
Project Gotham Racing 3/4, Forza Motorsport 2
Lips/Karaoke Revolution (though KR is available on PS3, and SingStar as well)
Community games
Hexic (tons of fun)
Fable 2 Pub Games/other card or gambling related XBLA titles
Some movie tie ins (Surf's Up, Madagascar 2, for example)
Sports games
Would the LEGO games count?

Don't forget backwards compatibility on Xbox 360...can't think of any non-violent original Xbox titles but I know I'm forgetting some.

Anything you can get on PS3, you can get on Xbox, with only a few exceptions not even worth mentioning. And Xbox's are waaaaay cheaper
Killzone 2
God of War 3
Resistance: Fall of Man
Resistance 2
Motorstorm
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
Metal Gear Solid 4
Wipeout HD
Flower
Heavy Rain
Infamous
Little Big Planet

Yeah, totally not worth mentioning those games, all with a metacritic score of 80 or higher...
Read first thread? Non-violent? And most of the above are the same game anyway, just edit the details.
If OP wants non-violent, go read a book or stick with the wii, game consoles have triggers on there pads for a good reason. Still though, the Motorstoms, Flower, Wipeout (that really can't be considered violent) and LBP give a great non-violent selection.
I've never been a fan of mindless violence games, but I'm still attatched to my Xbox. Viva Pinata must be one of the best games ever (':

Honestly, don't buy either. Save up your money and get parts for a really good PC. You won't have to buy games and it's just better.
But for the sake of staying on topic. Get a 360.

Title is self explanatory, my Wii is about as useful as a deep-sea astronomy so I'm thinking of getting a PS3 or an Xbox 360. Now, I don't (can't) want to get games with guns in them like Halo 3 or MGS4. Basically anything violent is a no-no.
Go for xbox, the Live arcade has many fun non violent games, and at the moment a better selection all round, due to it being around longer. I highly recommend Braid.

Do you consider swords and stuff too violent? If not you might enjoy oblivion or fable 2, in which the combat is more comical than violent (sometimes unitentionally :D)

As Much as i Dislike to say it PS3 is your best bet with Little Big Planet(i know everyone has already said that) and also most of the good racing games are great on the PS3 and i guess all of the lego games look good too.

Up to you really, but 360 has a much larger catalog of quality games and a much better online system. Also, and maybe this is just me, I absolutely cannot stand Playstation controllers. Ever since PS1 I thought they were clunky and uncomfortable.

Asking the question on a forum isn't going to give you much insight, you'll just get fanboys from both sides telling you that their console of choice is better and giving no good reason for why. You'd be better off researching each system's game catalogue on Wikipedia for the sake of impartiality.

Hallelujah!!!!!!!! somebody understands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

X360!!!!
I OWN a PS3 it's just not worth it. Fallout 3 is probably the only good game on it unless I've yet to discover something of myth. JUST GET A 360! It's MUCH better and CHEAPER!
Do iiit!!!

If you want non-violent games and don't like the Wii, the DS and casual PC games are pretty much your options.

Well, if your not going to get any games with any guns in them, then just stick to your Wii. Only good games I can think of that don't have violence in them are the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games.
