I'd invite you over to play it for yourself, because it doesn't deserve to be degraded to such a level. The game really is an amazing experience and much much more.

Don't judge about Heavy Rain until you've played it all the way through, so that you know the story and who the real Origami Killer is. Seriously.
You are my hero for the day.

OT: Yes. Definitely get a PS3. It's a solid, reliable machine. And (Though this is coming without prior research) the PS3's exclusives seem more varied than the 360's, which, as I've seen, mostly include shooters. Plus, most (Not all. I'm looking at you, LAIR.) of the PS3's exclusives are just grand. I can't say otherwise for 360, seeing as I don't have one. But I feel the big names are very overrated.

I was thinking of getting one, simply because online play is free, most of my friends have one, bluray player, and they're awesome

Sorry, I should probably read all the posts in case this has been answered, but I'm lazy: If I were to buy a PS3 (for the games, not the Blu-Ray, which I really don't see the point of), but hook it up to a standard-definition TV, would I run into any problems?

Yes, if you can afford it have both PS3 and X360. I currently have an xbox, but I'm thinking more and more seriously about getting a PS3 as well, to have a blu-ray player and PS3 exclusive titles.

Not really, for the same reason i'm not getting a 360.
theres so many good games that both systems can play, and kinda few exclusives, so ask yourself, are there good games on teh 360 you haven't played yet? do you have time to play every good 360 game, and still need more? If not then why would you get a PS3, when you've got more good games than you have time/money to play/get on the 360?

Sure tehres good games on the 360 i can't play cause i have a PS3, but theres also good games on the PS3 i'll never get to play, cause i don't have time to play every game i want, and currently most of my game time goes to online PC gaming, mainly HoN, anyways, cause my friends keep calling me and ask me to come online and rape some n00b-face.

Also, i haven't got a single blu-ray movie yet even though i have a PS3, they're still way to expensive compared to DVD's.

So ask yourself, is it really worth the money, to get a PS3 purely for blu-ray and the exclusives?

go with what your friends have for the console thing, and Blu-Ray/HD makes little to no difference unless you're using a 52" TV.

I don't like the PS3. It has only one exclusive game I want (Disgaea 3).
Just look through the list of exclusives and try to sum up what you'd like to play on it, if you're lucky (or rather, if Sony's lucky) you'll find a lot that appeals to you and then yes, it is a good investment.
If not, then just stick to your XBox.

This is just my oppinion but i don't think so. As someone with all 3 consoles your better off getting 6 or 7 good 360 games. I mean MGS 4 Heavy Rain and the futur GoW 3 is all it has (I didn't include Uncharted 2 on purpose[its so overratted])

have you played the game? Its much more interesting and revolutionary than what you are making it out to be.
I second that. "Quick time event the movie game" so what? It's a great way to develop a story through using player choises.. the biggest choises you have in FPS or RPG is pretty much do one thing, on thing happens.. do another thing.. another thing happens.

Why should it "not be a buying incentive"?

What if it turns out that its the best game the guys ever played? Im certain that it will be for many other people.

Some people may indeed like that and therefore is a buying incentive for them, this is all based off of opinion. I got the PS3 for the free internet, and the few exclusives at the time which were Resistance, Killzone, and Ratchet and Clank, all of which I am to this day very happy with over paying for the continued use of the 360.

xbox has better online

XBOX FTW
firstly dont bring your flame war fanboy bulshit here, and secondly, apart from inter game chat which xbox has, the ps3 is free and has home, a fukin web browser, iplayer, vidzone and online game speed is set by the servers the game company has, so your wrong as well, it you gonna talk shit, bring some reasons.
first of all relax, i realize that it may be that time of the month again

more people play xbox
there is a reason ps3 has free online (nothing is free)
xbox has better quality online
halo (if thats wat ur into)
each system has fair share of limited games

finally go beat off to ps3 since u clearly get hard-ons for it
There really isn't that much difference between them.

Both have a decent arcade store, both have a pointless avatar system and more importantly both can play MW2 online and since thats what 90% of people use the online function for its pointless arguing over it.

I'll throw in my opinion on the subject.

I don't own a 360, have thought about it and decided that the exclusives aren't enough to warrant buying the system. Before you cry that I'm a fanboy, I thought about the PS3 exclusives that I own and I don't think I'd buy a PS3 for them if I already had a 360.

Most of my favourite games are multi-platform anyway.

These are the PS3 exclusives I own:

Metal Gear Solid 4
Resistance: Fall of Man
LittleBigPlanet
Motorstorm Pacific Rift
Valkyria Chronicles
MAG

I know it's hardly a comprehensive list, but my point is that in my opinion only MGS4 is worth buying a console for (of the ones I own, you will of course have your own opinions). Still waiting for Heavy Rain and God of War to see if they can meet that standard.

I found it largely fine. The only problem was that sometimes the writing in game was very hard to make out. I used to play on a 24/26 inch (can't remember) SDTV and I'd have to move up to the Tv and squint to read some of it. Almost every game that had small writing I had to do this. Otherwise there are times when I can't really tell the difference.

I got one to complament my 360, and now it is basically a blue-ray player. I haven't seen an exclusive yet that has had me coming back again and again on the PS3. Don't get me wrong, there are some good exclusives, but no one or two that I think are worth buying the console for. It is, however, a good blue-ray player.
