I chose ps2 over xbox originally (as I'm sure most sane people did)
but I chose 360 over ps3 because of the prise, and the exclusive games microsoft had, and, until recently, haven't regretted my decision.
But now games like heavy rain are coming out and they look pretty amazing but even I have to admit, the wouldn't work on the xbox. Also my house doesn't have a blue ray player. So should I cross over to the dark side and but a ps3 as well as my xbox? Or should I save and just get all the amazing games I want for the xbox anyway???

Heavy rain is basically Quick time event the movie the game. That should not be a buying incentive.

If you want to, go ahead. It's a matter of personal opinion, same with the idea that you even need Blueray (Honestly, I hate the HD/Blueray craze. What's wrong with standard definition!?) but it's ultimately your choice.

I say go for it..bring a little variety into your gaming world. I have all three current gen systems and i switch between which one i play. The only one i have a little more prefrence for is 360 mostly for online play

If you're only buying one for Heavy Rain, I'd say, no.

If you're buying one in order to play God of War 3 and The Last Guardian, I'd say, go for it.

Agreed with Heavy Rain being one big quick time event. The reason it's being talked about is that it gets hyped a lot. Look at the exclusives for PS3 and see if you interests match the games out for it. If they do, sure, go ahead and get a PS3, if it doesn't turn out well you'll at least you wont need a blue ray player. I don't know much about PS3 as I also got the 360, but I can't see anything wrong with it, except for the price which can be explained by superior hardware and that it costs more to make. Having 2 consoles is not a bad thing since it increases the variety of the games you'll be able to get. Who knows, some things about the PS3 can make you want to buy games that come out for both for PS3. Final Fantasy XIII will be released on 2 discs I believe on the 360, but one on PS3. That might not be a problem and you might not want that game (can't blame you, not a FF fan myself), but if you prefer the controllers on PS3 that's something.

Good luck choosing, whatever you choose I hope you'll be happy with that.

Keep in mind it will be on backorder once you order it. I ordered mine 10 days ago and it will hopefully be here tommorow...

It's a tough choice.

360 has a lot more people on line and is cheaper. If you have friends get this. There are also a large amount of exclusives that are good, like Halo 3, Gears of War, etc.

If you don't have friends (or you secretly hate them all) get a PS3. Free online is the main selling point in my opinion. It also has virtually no chance of breaking unless you take a hammer to it. It's a great system. The only trouble is finding someone who actually owns one.

In the long run my opinion is void. I have both :), so the choice doesn't concern me. And no I'm not a rich little brat. The PS3 was a Christmas gift for my brother and I and I bought the 360 after half a year of mowing the lawn.

Hell yes, you should. And buy Heavy Rain while you're at it. One of the best emotional experiences of all time in a video game.

..considering that the PS2 was released years before the Xbox? Yes, probably. -facepalm-

OT, I'm so sick of these threads. You've obviously made up your mind anyway, nobody in their right mind is going to spend upwards of half a thousand dollars on something, or not spend it, based on the opinions of a bunch of randoms on an internet forum.

However, if you truly do want my two cents, no. 360 is more than enough console for any man. The only thing I'd think about getting a PS3 over is Heavy Rain. Blu-Ray is dead and isn't going to revive to any real extent any time soon since digital distribution is becoming the norm.

firstly...
yeah, okay, i got owned...

secondly, I had an argument with my mate today about which is better, and because I play xbox, I chose that, so I'm looking at a broader perspective to see if gamers prefer ps3 or xbox because I'm still contemplating myself, and having extra input is always helpful *peels hand from face and removes from arm*

and I live in England, where the exchange rate is down and the currency is pounds sterling thank you VERY MUCH sir
