9-midnight? Go, ffs! It's three fucking hours, if it's really that bad it's not exactly going to be a long ordeal, and you might really enjoy yourself.

If you don't want to go then your presence probably won't bring about anything good.

If you said you'd go with the girl, you can't back down now.
Especially if she already bought her dress.

If you back out now, you'd be what I like to call, a jackass.

If you told a girl you'd take her, backing out now is what we call a dick move.
The thing is, it's actually one of my friend's cousin's friend (one of my other friends is taking the cousin). We don't go to the same school, and we actually don't even know each other and I haven't even talked to her.
Is she under the impression that she has a date with you to the prom?

If you already have a date, go. No woman deserves to be stood up, ever.

Other than that, it depends on what you're looking for. If you just want to have fun, take someone who makes you laugh and let the evening take you where it will. You'll be dressed up, everyone will be determined to have a good time, and depending on where you go to school, you'll be able to get into some awesome after-parties.

If you want a "special" and very romantic evening, you probably won't get much out of it unless you take your girlfriend or someone you like a lot and plan on asking out. It's impossible for the occasion to be special when you have anywhere from 50-400 other people around while you try to sweet-talk someone into liking you.

If you just wanna get laid, you have two options. If you want a certain girl, take her. It helps. If you just wanna get laid in general, skip the dance. There will be plenty of drunk loose girls at after-parties.

I don't regret not going to mine, but the people I've talked to who went said they all enjoyed it. I can't speak for the experience you'll have, since we don't go to the same school or the same dances, but you really have very little to lose by going.

Go. I didn't really want to go, mainly because I felt really weird going (bad haircut). I had an awesome time. I take it you have already paid? Just go. Backing out would be a complete jackass move.

Dude, you get to dress up in a tux and look classy. At least if you go, sneak out of it, then troll around the town and look awesome. Pick up the ladies that way.
Teach me your ways.

I voted no. I've got no intention of going to my prom next year. I've never seen the point in any of the school dance type things, and the few I went to I hated... Although that could just be because the ones my school puts on in our gym invariably suck.

Although, since you already have a date, I don't think there's really much you can do without making a total ass of yourself. Have fun at the prom.

I didn't go to mine, then again neither did most of my friends and we had a good enough time doing our own thing. Plus most of the people that went to my high school were massive douchebags. And it cost 90-something dollars to go, not really worth it.

If you already asked a girl to go w/ you; then you pretty much have to.

If you didnt, just go to a party outside the school. thats what i did. accomplishes the same thing

I'm going to mine with the sole intention of trying to hook up with the one girl i've liked for the 4 years.

my suggestion is make a goal like that. It might make it seem more rewarding to go.

Don't bend to peer pressure (except, of course, mine)! If you don't want to go, don't. I'm not going to my prom. Dances bore me to tears. Sure, I get the weird eye when it slips that I'm not going, but whatever, I'll do something actually FUN on that day. If, however, you do decide to go, come to that conclusion prior to lock-in.

My prom was a disaster and all the stupid high school drama crap that started because of prom didn't let up until this past January. So unless you are 100% sure your date won't: 1. start going out with another guy before prom when she knew you had plans to ask her out, 2. force you to allow her boyfriend to tag along the whole night, 3. toss you to the side when ever a slow dance occurs, 4. start a fight between you and her boyfriend that leads to physical violence, then don't go to prom.

And yes that's a short summary of what happened to me at my prom, don't even get me started with what happend after prom and the following eight months...
