If it was scripted and not real I would be laughing.

However no, your laughing at a real person getting hurt for reasons they did not cause. This is a kid getting beaten up on by other kids for seemingly no reason. Were you not harassed as a kid? Its not exactly fun.

Sorry, your an asshole and should feel bad. You should have gotten off your ass and broke them up and offered to call the kids parents. Not laugh as a child could have gotten seriously hurt.

I'd have gone out there and gotten rid of those other kids. That sort of behavior is just wrong, and so was the OP's for finding that kind of stuff even remotely funny. Stuff like that isnt just for kicks for the kid getting beat up. That kind of stuff does its grim work in so many ways that you do not want to know about.

Odd, you say that you would defend the helpless kid but hate on soldiers (when many fight to protect those being abused. And, no, I'm not saying that's the only thing that they do.) Anyways, I would say that he should have helped the kid out as well.

Spoiler: Because:

A) A slight scuffle is way different to shooting innocents, bombing hospitals and raping defenseless women.
B) These kids know that they are being assholes. They do not actually go to bed at night thinking they are good people.
C) The rest of society would admit these kids are assholes. The main reason I honestly hate soldiers is that the morons in our society praise them so much. Call them heroes. Act as if what they are doing somehow makes them better than anyone else.
It ruins what being a hero actually is. Not to mention that doctors, teachers, parents struggling to provide for their children, hell even janitors who do a disgusting job to help the rest of us are all more heroic then those brutes.
If people would stop mindlessly praising them and just treat them as what they are, a bunch of people doing a hazardous and crappy job with a moron for a boss, then I could at least tolerate them but I will be damned before I call a bunch of violent brutes "heroes" when they do nothing to help society.
And yes, I do make a distinction between real men and women who are drafted to actually defend their homelands and those who sign up to go over and fuck with poor people in the middle east.

Whens the last time a janitor took a bullet for his country? I can't beleive you are associating a few mishaps with the entire miltary! That's bullshit, they go through more shit than a plumber, the schools deal with brats, and the miliary deals with insurgent and terrorists and who knows what else, you may not agree with everything the military does, but those are people out there, they don't know if they are gonna come home tonight. You should be ashamed.

This reminds me of that episode of Seinfield where they get arrested for watching,and laughing at, a fat man get mugged. Coincidentally they get arrested for that. I wouldn't go so far as arresting you but you probably should have gone out and helped the poor kid.

OT: Personally, I wonder what kind of physical damage a bunch of five year olds could cause. It seems that the real trauma is emotional in this situation, and if you had run out to help, the 12 year old would just feel like everyone had seen him in his moment of embarrassment, and felt worse about the whole thing. So it's possible that you may have actually done the right thing here.
