Well if you legalize marijuana you will get appeals to legalize all drugs. Especially in the US, where hyporcrisy and freedom go hand in hand.
That's like saying that just becuase Aspirin's legal all drugs should be legal... It doesn't work now, it wouldn't hold any water for marijuana.
What ? Apsirin is an analgesic, not a hallucinogen with potentially harmfull short term side effects and documented long term side effects. This is the typical individualistic, selfish, arrogant approach taken on by Americans, "My rights should be listened to, but those I disagree with can go to hell".

How can you be pro the legalization of drugs because you use, and against legalization of drugs that you dont use, but other people use. Do you see the hypocrisy ?

I don't use drugs, and i don't care if marijuana is legalized or not, i feel that if someone wants to use anything, they should be entitled to do so, at their own risk

It should be legal.

Why?

Because the general public are too stupid to know if a situation actually requires such measures and minors reaching for the stuff everytime they get some maths homework.

Stress relief is all good, but to do soft drugs because of a bit of factoring is just exaggeration.

What a load of liberal bull****. The other side is no better. Not one of you here seem to even know what you're talking about.

Why not pay a visit to a mental hospital? The number of kids at those places, who now have to deal with schizophrenia for the rest of their lives because of excessive cannabis use, is shocking. And it will be for the rest of their lives, because schizophrenia is incurable. What a complete waste.

Having Marijuana taxed and regulated would be great. Especially for Canada, because there is a lot that can be made anywhere. It can be locally grown and help our economy. The best thing is that there would be no chance of it being laced with anything. So if it helps our economy, stops drug dealers, makes people happier (unlike alcohol which makes people violent, stupid and sad), and limits those underage from using it, why not legalize it? It really doesn't make sense.

Where is your proof on this? Anything I have ever read, seen, or heard on the matter states that the "tests" used to come to these conclusions were performed by the U.S. government in an effort to maintain that marijuana is evil! Also whenever an independent college/lab/what have you would request permits in order to do the same exact tests the U.S. government would deny the permits. Further more, any studies done outside of the U.S. on the matter have been contradictory to the results of the U.S. governments results.

I'm willing to make a bet that more than half the people who said "Legalize it" are under 18

me, I'm for decriminalization rather than legalization

it would make it legal in the home, but not outside

Would cut down on crime a lot more than legalizing

There is no good reason for it to be illegal.

Pot is the least debilitating drug of them all. You want dangerous? Ban alcohol.

Well, I think cigarettes should be illegal too. It's only legal because it's a massive industry.
If marijuana is legal, it will be for financial reasons. It's still terrible for you and it can destroy your life(though it isn't nearly as cocaine or heroin).

Pretty much this. You can't die from ODing on weed. As much as I dislike marijuana, and think it's stupid to smoke it, it's not the government's place to arbitrarily decide that it should be illegal, especially without referendum.

It should be legal. I don't really need to defend this, since so many posters have already mentioned a number of good reasons.

But I will say if your argument to keep it illegal is that it's dangerous to other people, then we should have outlawed driving ages ago.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_motor_vehicle_deaths_in_U.S._by_year
And that doesn't count the number of injuries. We have a long history of not outlawing things simply because they are dangerous to people. It's hypocritical of us to say we need to protect people from the evils of Marijuana when we allow, no, encourage people to do dangerous stuff all the time. We allow guns in bars. [http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31122117/] It doesn't get much more dangerous than that

That would be very hard to enforce. I'm all up for decriminalization, but there it also needs to be looked down upon. Make people who use drugs should be pitted instead of seen as criminals (since criminals are badass).

In Holland, the government distributes any drug (marijuana, cocaine, heroine, etc) in precise doses, using clean equipment, for free. These people with addictions are treated as if they had a disease and the government feels bad for them. In this context, nobody would want to do drugs, but if one chooses to, there won't be repercussions as dramatic as in the US.

Given that it does not help anyone it should be illegal. This also applies to other things like beer. I will post the real reason why pot is illegal due to medical problems later, iPods the worst researcher ever...
So, unless it benefits us, it shouldn't be legal? Well, let's start chucking stuff away. Games, for instance, don't benefit us. Let's make that illegal. Your logic is somewhat silly. Cars help us get places quicker, but they don't benefit us personally. In fact, the fumes make us worse. Also, marijuana does benefit people, as it works as a pain reliever, for things like cancer and arthritis. Stick that in your marijuana free pipe and smoke it.

Edit- Forget to do an on topic. My bad. Pot isn't that bad for your health. In fact, research suggests that alcohol and tobacco. Anyhow:
1: Legalise
2: Tax
3: ???
4: PROFIT.
