Anyone who thinks Mass Effect needs co-op has either not played the game or misunderstands the whole point of it.

Fuck no!

This is a story driven single-player experience. Making it co-op would seriously muck up the game.

Afterall, look what happend to Resident Evil 5.

This is probably the worst idea I've ever heard of. Mass Effect has a lot of sitting around and doing nothing, which isn't the type of game co-op is good for.

Absolutely not! What is with you people and your multiplayer, isn't every other FPS enough? Besides why would you want Bioware to dilute the game, by wasting time on a co-op mode that isn't necessary. They should concentrate on making an awesome (SINGLE PLAYER) sequel to a great series.

Yes IF they have special co-op missions. That would work.
This, Mass effect as it is cannot have Co-op because unlike FPS and other action games combat is only half of the game, the other half is exploring and talking to NPCs to take quests etc, so special mission designed for co-op would be nice.

NO.
Nonononononononono.
Mass Effect is about following Shepard's story, and where you, as the player will take him/her. It is based on your decisions during the game, not the decision of some tro that jumps into your game and ruins the your fun anyway he sees fit (i.e. making renegade choices for an alol paragon Shepard)
Plus, how would the dialogue system work? IT WOULDN'T. As I said before, Mass Effect is about your choices, and yours alone. I don't want Miranda to just pop out of nowhere during a conversation and give me her opinion.

So really, the only thing that would work for co-op in Mass Effect would be the combat system, but the pause and play gameplay for it even ruins that idea. So I'm going to have to take this quote:

I want ME3 to be more RPG than 2 so, no. I don't want co-op. If I want to interact with other people I'll go to the pub.

Mass Effect isn't a shooter people.

If you have another pad plugged in and that let someone run around as one of your squaddies in the shooty areas, then by all means. If it did *I AM ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL* as they did it then all the better.

Ofcourse, they can't compromise on the non-shooty bits otherwise the game would suck. But the story/shooty ratio would make for a boring coop.

So...yes. But don't put too much effort into it.

Its thinking like that that brings an MMORPG instead of an awesome sequel (looking at YOU KOTOR!!!)
It's a shame Bioware is stuck making a Star Wars MMO instead of one for Mass Effect.

I don't really know what the appeal of co-op Mass Effect would be. If they lose the focus on making single-player great, they could wreck it.
I think we're pretty much way past that point...
What with the books, and the sequel (if you can really call it that)...

Yes, if they made it so dialog sections could be influenced by both players - so that NPC players would address both players in most cutscenes.
Have it so your friend can agree/disagree with you at times, to form an interesting outcome.

I wouldn't miss it if there isn't one, but if done right, it could be a unique experience.
Also it would probably mean I would have to coerce one of my RL friends into playing games ¬¬.

I love Co-Op, no seriously I love it.

That said Mass effect is a world based on what 1 person wants. Adding another person would kill that game.

Player 2: Hey you have been chatting for like 15 minutes lets do something!
Me: STFU I'm trying to Lay Ashley.
Player 2: You are so gay, and howcome I don't get to be Shepard? This is BS lets trade.
Me: STFU your ruining the immersion.
Player 2: Ashley is a stupid racist marine.
Me: No I love her! I'll kill you.
Player 2: Died in RL.
Pretty much, co-op would be nice in the combat centered missions but everywhere else it would just not work.

The Illusive Man has now successfully cloned Shepherd! The up to 3 Shepherds will take turns choosing replies!

...No. Doesn't sound like a good idea at all.

Co-op just wouldn't work in Mass Effect. Co-op is more for shooters. Not dialogue-heavy and very story driven RPGs.

Yea, there is no way you have the "Mass Effect experience" when playing the game with someone else. Does that other person really want to sit there and listen to your dialogue and watch you read codices? This trilogy in the Mass Effect universe is all about your story. Maybe when they start realizing games outside of the Shepard saga, they will toy around with some multiplayer (though I even doubt that).

I can't see it working. Co-op during the combat heavy missions sounds fun, but as said before, there's too much dialogue and RPG elements for it to really work.

Also, all my friends would have to be complete assholes about it and not let me hear the storyline or effectively make choices. So yeah. Screw that.

Online multiplayer might be pretty neat though. I WANNA PLAY A KROGAN.
