If they did that, then one person would either have to sit around doing nothing during the cutscenes while Player One did all the talking, OR they'd have some kind of input on the dialogue, too, which would be BALLS.

I like Co-op. But I also like being able to play a game single player and actually get immersed in it, and when I have to constantly put up with someone else in my game either whining about, "Hurry up and let's kill something" or telling them to stop forcing me to be an ass to Garrus or Tali or someone, then it just... doesn't work.

You want Co-op? Play Crackdown 2, or Halo 3, or Left 4 Dead (2), or Red Dead Redemption... the list goes on. Plenty of great Co-op games.

I love couch co-op, but NO to any multiplayer in the Mass Effect series, they should focus on making the best single player experience possible. Co-op is better in arcadey games or in idiot-proof stories like Gears, Mass Effect is a very focussed single player experience where most of the game time is actually taken up with things other than combat, most notably dialogue trees. I don't want to have to rush through the story (my favorite part of the game) so my co-op partner isn't bored.

Its thinking like that that brings an MMORPG instead of an awesome sequel (looking at YOU KOTOR!!!)
It's a shame Bioware is stuck making a Star Wars MMO instead of one for Mass Effect.
The Two universes are kinda similiar. both space epics both have lasers etc.... either way, i would have rather had a kotor 3. I would also rather have a mass effect 3. making a game an MMORPG ruins the story telling aspect. I'm sure Bioware can do it, its what they're good at.... just not the same feel.
I seriously have to ask, why do people keep pounding their fists and decrying the evils of the BioWare MMO? It' going to be KotOR except it will be 8 KotORs... 8 KotORs that can be replayed two or three times... I'm still fuzzy on when this idea became the equivalent of them murdering your families.

I just cant see Mass Effect being multiplayer to any degree. If they were to make some off-shute MMO based in the Mass Effect universe, maybe. But not ME3. Also Im I the only person that wants to see the return of alot of the Mass Effect 1 elemnts? I liked being able to customize Shepard's N7 armor, but they trimed so much of it down, I loved the game, but it just didnt feel like Mass Effect.

No. That would seem too strained. Besides the game is story based, and the story is about you being the lone saviour of the universe, NOT you and Captain Retard.

Assuming the co-op mode has absolutely NOTHING to do with the campaign, I'd be okay with it. This has been MY story for the past two games, and I can say, without a doubt, that the game would be RUINED if co-op was tacked onto the main story.

Mass Effect is a singleplayer RPG, always has been. Adding a cooperative mode to the final installment is an indescribably awful design decision, not to mention it wouldn't make any bloody sense.

Then again, I'm one of those people that rages whenever someone jumps into the middle of a story-driven trilogy at any point other than the beginning. (aka, people who played Mass Effect 2 without bothering to play Mass Effect 1. WHAT?!)

I love Co-Op, no seriously I love it.

That said Mass effect is a world based on what 1 person wants. Adding another person would kill that game.

Player 2: Hey you have been chatting for like 15 minutes lets do something!
Me: STFU I'm trying to Lay Ashley.
Player 2: You are so gay, and howcome I don't get to be Shepard? This is BS lets trade.
Me: STFU your ruining the immersion.
Player 2: Ashley is a stupid racist marine.
Me: No I love her! I'll kill you.
Player 2: Died in RL.
Yeah, pretty much this.

Anyone who doesnt want a co op is either brain dead or doesnt have any friends.

There's really no need to be that obnoxious. -Mod
You're right, I don't want co op because I have no friends and people on the internet are too mean to play with... :(

It's not. I'll probably be first in line to buy the thing and not get any sleep for a week once it comes out. Do i think it will be good? Yes, I do. I think it will be awesome. However it is NOT the same experience as the other kotors. i want to be the only influence on my world, just like in the original kotors and mass effect. it wont be the same with thousands of other people running around. Also the story won't be as....sweet you know?

I honestly think that, if Bioware puts in a drop-in drop-out co-op mode, that it could be implemented well. Like, say I was playing, and had Garrus and Zaeed on my squad at the moment, my brother could come along, pick up a controller, press a button, and be playing as Garrus, with strictly combat functions.

I mean, it's not necessary, but I believe, if done well, it could be a great experience to add to the game.

I love co-op in games. I'll buy just about any game that has split-screen co-op and it's a big selling point for me if it has online co-op.

Also, I love Mass Effect. I think both of them were one of the best games of their respective times and they are each one of the few games I've played through the entirety of single player more than once (4 times on the first one, actually. I'll get to the 2nd one some more too).

That being said, co-op in Mass Effect sounds awful. The game is as much about conversation as it is about combat. Who would control the interrupts? What if your buddy wants to go Renegade? Do you? Or is it just your friend is a second shooter and misses out on any decision making whatsoever?

Essentially, in a game like Mass Effect, somebody would get to play the game and the other person would just sit there half the time.

It depends entirely upon how they incoperate it. It could work so 2 extra players can take control of the 2 companions then that would probably work fine.

I don't think that it would work as well if more than one person was actually shaping the story however. And I don't think importing your own characters would work too well either.

Not really. The story has the same writing staff, each class has it's own narrative that won't be repeated. You don't see those people running around when it comes to a story moment, they get phased out so it is you alone. Being able to form a party so that I can experience the story with friends? Fantastic but not mandatory. Everyone seems to have invented this universe where BioWare is suddenly going to stop making good games for some reason.

The story of Mass Effect is that of MY interpretation of Commander Shepard and the party that chooses to follow him into hell. I don't need or want a second person, even a friend, to interfere with that experience.

Why would I want fucking co-op in a game about MY choices?

IS NOTHING SACRED ANYMORE?!
