It depends, do Atheists have the right to force Atheism on their kids?

They're not forcing them, it just part of their lives that becomes parts of their kids life. Like going to grammas house for cupcakes on saturdays, sure sometimes you don't wanna go, especially when your older, but you still have a place in your heart for grammas cupcakes.

ok i know we're not supposed to suggest moderator action, but having this thread locked might save some flaming.

either way, i voted fuck no. Simply put, when you're a kid you biologically listen to everything your parents say. if they start early enough, and enforce it enough, you're likely to find that the kid will believe what their parents did, and they may even believe that they came to those conclusions themselves. it's possible that they did, but if we look at any of the fundamentals of psychology, particularly in relation to religion and sociology, it's pretty hard to think that this sort of behaviour leaves children with a free choice as they get older.

Is that what your parents told you ? Also having a foreskin makes sex and fapping way easier
and better !
Yes, actually. My mother works in Urology and deals with these kinds of things all the time. I also know because I did my own research on it. Sure, if I was tooling around with a spear, running naked or nearly naked in the forest as my ancestors did, having a protective sheath for my glans would be great but in this day and age it is merely a cosmetic thing that may eventually become a hindrance as you age like wisdom teeth, in my opinion.

Also, how can you be certain that you have more fun fapping than me? I fap all the time. Joking aside, it is an argument you can't win because I am not you and you are not me. You don't know how it feels if you lack foreskin and I dunno how it feels with it. Assuming you had your foreskin removed later in life and it was better before, it is still not conclusive beacause for all I know your phallus may not have healed properly. Kids recover much more easily than adults from stuff like that. Your claim is simply impossible to test and peer review, adequately.
No but the clothes touching the head causes it to become less sensitive

Yes and no.

Up to a point, I think, Parents should teach them what they believe in, until the point that they can make their own personal choices without the need of outside influences (usually mid-to-late teens).

I voted for the Fuck No. In fact, religion should be banned. 99% of wars are caused by it.
Like the American Civil War, (kind of) World War 1 and 2, The Cold War, Vietnam, The American Revolutionary War, The Norman Invasion, The 100 Year War, The War of The Roses, Alexander The Great's Conquest..... those, right?

religion should banned? Now who is forcing there view upon others?

For the record, I'm an atheist, I'm just anti-idiot as well.

I am not trolling (and I don't believe I'm stupid either). What I am trying to say is that kids (young kids) will think whatever they are told to.

Do we understand each other?

I find it acceptable for a parent to teach their kid about only one religion. I think it's better to teach many but not necessary. However, if the kid comes to another decision and the parents disown them for not believing like they do they are TERRIBLE parents.

I stopped being a Christian when I was 11 because I didn't see the logic in it. My mom, the only person who talks to me about religion, is a Christian.

The causes of WWI, the american civil war, the irish civil war, the boer wars, both abyssinian wars, the war of the roses, the livonian war, the war of the spansish succession, the pennaminte-yankee war, the sino-indian war, the vietnamese war, all three punic wars, the russo-japanese war, the arauco war, the cuban civil war, the spanish civil war, the chinese civil war and the cold war all had nothing to do with religion. I think that's a little more than 1% of all of them, and I'm sure there's a ton that I haven't named. Sometimes even atheists don't get their facts straight.

Not really, I don't think.

If I have a kid, my plan is maybe introducing a lot of religious views, and some Atheistic ideals, or something. I let them choose with the information. but of course, that's all well and good, but in truth, it's hard to give a child a completely unbiased choice for religion. I'm Deist/Christian. I don't want to enforce that on my kid.

I'm open to anyone, religious or not, any religion, so that may help. I wouldn't want them to think that any one is more right than the other.

Ah well. In the end, no, they shouldn't force it on their kids, but catholics taking their kids to church shouldn't raise too much hate. Not unless the kid wants out because he doesn't believe in the religion. Though not because they're just bored. Maybe it shouldn't be enforced, just taught. The Bible has interesting lessons and stories, but the kid probably shouldn't be enforced that they're true and totally right.

I don't know. No, but it depends on what we mean.

She isn't a very Bible-y Christian. She was an atheist (raised to be one) and she prayed like "if your there, show me, Jesus". She had an experience type thing so she believes it. I have had no such experience so I don't

well, it depends what you mean by force.

i am all for teaching children about your religious beliefs, but i do not agree with claiming them to be the truth. you have to merely present them as options for the child.

i was in theory quite balanced in this, since my mother is christian and my father is atheist. however, i was not thought that they were options. therefore, it didn't work as well as it should have, and now i have beliefs that change around twice every day.

Nobody should be forced into religion. Whether you are religious or not you DO NOT have the right to force your child into your beliefs (or lack of).
