Nay, however I'm glad you included the third option. I think waiting for marriage is a little over the top (even for religious beliefs, though that I understand more so) but call me old fashioned I always viewed sex as the most intimate thing two people can share. When you then proceed to share it with everything that moves, it gets devalued somewhat don't you think?

Maybe that's why I'm still a virgin..................

OK, so you claim there would be less STDs and less accidental pregnancies. Now I live in a country where HIV is nearly unheard of and we have very few accidental children. This must mean my country is all about holding off sex until after marriage, right? Far from it.
Recent research shows we have the most one night stands in all of Europe and that 70% of those who have had one will have more.

Now why don't we have a ton of STDs you may ask. Because we educate our youth on practicing safe sex from the age of 15-16 and most know enough even before that. Holding off until marriage wont change much. What needs to change is the social structure and the education of sex.

You gotta test the car before you buy it! Also if your sex life drops off before marriage you know you got issues as a couple!

As long as the two are consenting, it's safe, and no one is putting anyone in mental/physical harm (ie casual sex that one is emotionally invested in, cheating on a partner, being pressured, etc), I see no problem and would go so far as to encourage it. I would have a hard time not being able to have that physical aspect to a long-term relationship.

your analogy is the most unfitting, yet somehow seems to be also the most fitting one...

but i totally agree with you...

It's the decline that's the issue. Though as a positive you won't be able to get the 'seven year itch' without any 'itching' to begin with.

But they say that your sex life disappears when you get married so if you are going from a base of 0 you just have to hope for non-negative numbers!

It is way harder for a guy to get laid than a girl.
Mathematically impossible.

The mean difficulty of attaining sexual congress = D.
The number of sexual unions between men and women = s.
The mean number of couplings per individual of a given gender is C.
The population of a gender is p.

C[sub]male[/sub] = s[sub]male[/sub]/p[sub]male[/sub]
C[sub]female[/sub] = s[sub]female[/sub]/p[sub]female[/sub]

s[sub]male[/sub] = s[sub]female[/sub] = s, thus:

C[sub]male[/sub] = s/p[sub]male[/sub]
C[sub]female[/sub] = s/p[sub]female[/sub]

Mean difficulty is inversely proportional to number of mean couplings so:

D[sub]male[/sub] = p[sub]male[/sub]/xs
D[sub]female[/sub] = p[sub]female[/sub]/xs

where x is the constant of proportionality.

p[sub]male[/sub]/D[sub]male[/sub] = xs
p[sub]female[/sub]/D[sub]female[/sub] = xs

D[sub]male[/sub]/p[sub]male[/sub] = D[sub]female[/sub]/p[sub]female[/sub]

Let z equal the ration of males to females.

D[sub]male[/sub]/p[sub]male[/sub] = zD[sub]female[/sub]/p[sub]male[/sub]

or

D[sub]male[/sub] = zD[sub]female[/sub]

In western society, z is less than 1, as there are more females than males. Therefore

D[sub]male[/sub] < D[sub]female[/sub]

And therefore, males have an easier time getting laid than women.

QED.

I mean unless both parites are absolutly sure..then fine

but I dont think its how things "should" be, Its from a time when peopel married and had kids young, and also reenforces the Idea that sex isnt for pleasure (in a way)

I mean marrage (and children) is not somthing I want to do anytime soon....."sex" on the otherhand...well yyou know what I mean

Not my call to make. It's not any business of mine what the guy next door is doing and it isn't his business to know what I'm up to.

I think that they should wait, yes. For the same reason as the OP. I'm a Christian, so I think that the right thing to do is to wait until marriage.

The time to have sex is when two consenting adults decide they want to. If you and another consenting adult decide that time is marriage then great for you. If some other pair decide that time is 18 seconds after meeting that's also fine.

Of course, that doesn't always make it a good idea, but that's up to them. Personally I feel waiting for marriage is a bad idea, but that's just my thoughts on the matter.

Not at all. Marriage is a completely human and artificial concept. There's no objective reason why you shouldn't be allowed to have sex before marriage. As long as people are safe about it then they can do whatever they want. If they want to have kids they don't need to be married either. There's nothing about marriage that you need to bring up kids that you can't get somewhere else. Although I personally wouldn't have sex with anyone who I wasn't in a serious relationship with, I don't have a problem with people wanting to do it with anyone they want.

Ok, I hate math. Thank you for reminding me. I think that his point was that if a guy asks a random girl for sex, she would probably decline him. If a girl asks a random guy however, I find it kind of hard to believe that he would decline her. Assuming none of the parties looks horrible/are in a relationship already, of course. There is a chance that I'm just a horny dog however.

On topic: I really don't care about marriage at all, so no. There's no reason to wait.

I find a time table helps.
Every other Thursday 21:00 until 21:05 we lay as husband and wife and do our marital duties

It all depends on the person and what they want. Personally, for me, I would prefer to be in a serious relationship before sex, but not necessarily married. In fact, I believe that a couple should have sex before marriage because if you're not compatible in bed then it's going to make the relationship very difficult, but of course that's just my own opinion.

As for things such as casual sex and one-night stands...well...I doubt it's anything I would do, but I think for a lot of people some casual sex or one-night-stand every now and again doesn't hurt anything...though if all you're having is one-night-stands you may need some help in the trust and commitment areas.

that's a lot of fake math to say
"there are more girls than guys so it's easier for a guy to get laid"

also, there are more woman because there are more elderly woman, as women have a longer average lifespan. so unless guys are expected to be going after really old woman as well, the more women thing is kinda moot. it's pretty even up until that point.
