I don't really want to get into the whole thing, but basically no, ok I am going to get into it, firstly there's alot of crimes which would be hard to make and equivilent of, 2) apart from descention to the criminals level of society, which is what this would be, it promotes more violence than it discourages, looking at history, governments with strict "justice" systems, end up with the general population suffering, this often forces people to commit crimes to survive, and in most cases revolution eventually insues. 3) Lets face it people are corrupt, and chances are officials will abuse their power, the death penalty is never a good thing, and such abuse of power will lead to attributing point 2. 4) purely from a psycological point of view, research and studies, and common sense, suggests that people commit crimes for a REASON...for example many murders are pushed by significant events in their life to them commiting the crime, social convention drilled into peoples mind from birth stops you from simply doing it "because they are evil", its all about cause and effect, until we can understand the human mind fully and stop these triggers, no full blame, 100% blame, can be put on 1 individual, no 100% responsibility, ok its a bit off topic....but put in local terms, by crime by punishment, how would you deal with a starving man stealing bread? Cause the man is starving, without food, small money, that probably won't hurt anyone, is he responsible for human nature to survive? - Effect he steals the food to survive...and is punished by what? Confiscating somethinh he has? His clothes? Making him starve to death?
Cause and effect......crinal systems in many civilised countries aren't really fair in my oppinion anyway.....
