I can imagine it in DLC, like visiting a European city or something.
But not an entire game, it wouldn'tt really feel like Fallout.

But american culture has found its way everywhere. I think an outsider's perspective could be fresh and interesting, but still feel a lot like Fallout.
There's an old saying in the writing game: Stick to what you know. Bethesda is an east-coast developer, Obsidian a west-coast developer. Trying to sum up other culture's responses through any kind of lens is always rife for criticism.

Bethesda took random things, but didn't bother checking what they were.

"OH GREEN STUFF! ADD THAT."

"OH ENCLAVE! ADD THAT!"

1. FEV was at mariposa/West Tek ONLY. Order by the US government itself.

2. The Enclave had only the oil rig and navarro.

3. Super mutants shouldn't exist if FEV isn't even in DC.
Hey don't forget the BoS and their long trek across all of America and complete change of beliefs, society and objective.

Fallout 4: Afghanistan. Set in a deserted, mountaneous place, with little food or water and armed gangs of people opposing their will to the lawless peaks.

Then again, that could also be MoH or a CoD. Pre-nuked and post-nuked Afghanistan probably won't have much difference. Than again, the mountains in Afghanistan is not exactly much of a strategic target for a nuclear standoff.

Then again, neither are most European countries...

London is a good idea, because in the 50s they have their own counterpart of Americana, funny, not making much sense phase with super spies and Astons. Japan might be interesting, but I think it is too much of a gap and departure from western pop culture, so I don't know if we could get the jokes and references. Maybe Germany, with Nazi leftover ideas instead of Americana would work and it would be something everyone would be able to relate to.

Fallout should never leave the U.S because it is about AMERICAN 50's culture mixed with Science Fiction. I hope the next game is in Detroit.

As I've said before the whole world of Fallout as it exists in the games is built on the ruins of American civilization. All the factions, lore, companies, important places, people, and events all occur in the United States. It's rare enough for people to discus the goings on's of the Commonwealth (in Canada) and the remnants of Mexico.

The task of building a Fallout game around a region outside of the US would mean having to start almost literally with nothing. The Brotherhood, the Enclave, Super Mutants, Nuka-Cola, Vault-Tech. All these things (nuka-cola might be the exception) have zero presence outside of the US in the Fallout universe. These are the things that make Fallout identifiable to most people. They're the iconic things that make Fallout stand out. And by placing the game anywhere outside the US post-apocalyptic world, you can't have access to those things.

Would it make for interesting discussion? Absolutely, I think most of us Fallout fans want to see the rest of the post-apocalyptic world (hence the discussion). I personally have quite a few questions about what's going on elsewhere in the world. But Fallout as we know it just can't, in my mind, exist outside of it's American setting. There would be too much missing that we've come to know and love. I understand the argument of trying to do something different, but this is a game series that up to this point has established itself on certain in-game factions and traits, and if all those are missing then the would game feel so different, it might not feel like a Fallout game anymore.

i'd love to see how China fared in the Fallout Universe; would also make for some interesting stories and DLC.

If not China then the Annexed Canada.
It would be really interesting to see the "opposite" side to the war. The characters would have to almost solely be Chinese though - there wouldn't be many immigrants, unless over the 200 + years some survivors have wandered into the area looking for a nicer/safer region. And what would their "vaults" or whichever be like? Assuming that they had their very own organization like Vault-Tec.

Otherwise, considering the war, it wouldn't make much sense to switch to another region - but perhaps the war affected other regions, and Vault-Tec branched out to surrounding allied countries, such as Europe or Australia and New Zealand.
Well it is China; The new fallout could poke fun at China in there effort to copy everything. Instead of Vaults they might be called...

Catacomb 77 or Safe 101

And china could be VERY diverse, Just look at Hong Kong (If It existed in the Fallout World *Shrugs*) And remember all the Chinese stuff in Fallout 3 the weapons and the Chinese soldiers and spies in Point Lookout and the Capital Wasteland? Whose the say American Spies were in China as well, or maybe off the coast of China go out far enough and you'll find a Damaged American Destroyer full of a crew still trying to carry on their mission, or a DLC where you fight to take Anchorage for the Chinese,

It could be a DLC...

They could call it Red Steel...

I?m going to write these ideas down...

I would rather like the idea of a European Fallout game, but only if it sticks to the actual European aspects and doesn't try to use the same American culture tropes.
Now, while it is strictly non-canon at the moment, if you think about all the paranoia and propoganda in the Fallout universe, couldn't the fall of Europe have been exaggerated or even been down right made up to by the American government as a ploy to keep the public compliant? I mean, you tell everyone that there's no-one left to help them besides you and you've basically got them right where you want them. While this does sound like a nutjob conspiracy theory, considering the OTHER nutjob conspiracy theories in the Fallout universe, it's not a massive stretch to believe the governement could have lied to the public.
Hell, do a game where you escape America and arrive in Europe, either there's bugger all there or you've got a cliffhanger for another game series, you silence the whining fans if there's nothing there and you have another umpteen games left to make with the other. Win/Win, sortof.

I agree with this guy. Fallout 4: Canada seems like the best Fallout game ever. I'm tired of it always being in America. I wanna see the aftermath of someone bombing the hell out of my home and native land.
Fallout: Canada? Oh, please. That's just silly.

I retract my previous statement. Fallout: Canada all the way.

In a new fallout I hope it'll take place in Texas with NCR vs Enclave
To hell with that make it the Brotherhood vs the Enclave. There is suppose to be a massive hub vault in Abilene that the Brotherhood has control of.

Fallout is about AMERICA. To me that's like saying "Should they make a Team America movie about Europeans?"
But a lot of Team America is set outside America, and that is the point of it.

I would like to see a game about people redoing the journeys of Columbus, only in reverse, crossing the Atlantic to discover the ancient continent of Europe, struggles with inhabitants, legends of lost cities of gold, mad emperors and human sacrifice.

my vote would be to go to japan in maybe a pseudo feudal/advanced age feel.
Can't hold this back, Personally I Hope to god that never happens.

Anyways, I don't think it would happen?, I Mean I could see perhaps Canada, Or Mexico. But wasn't there something about America only having the vaults?. While at the same time I would love to see a fallout in Ireland. But, More realistically I would like to see it go further north, Into Canada or along the border states, Washington, Northren Idaho, Montana, North Dakota Minnesota (Twin Citys?) Wisconsin, Michigan... Ect...
Michigan is half way there. Ever been to Detroit? Flint? Saginaw? They all look like bombs have gone off a long time ago.

it better i am sick to death of seeing 99.9 percent of video games set in the United states. Man when are game developers gonna realize that the world doesn't revolve around the U.S and that there are other places in the world more suited to the games like i want to see at least 1 game set in Australia!

Didn't that shifty guy looking for his escaped android come from england?

Though he says it himself that it all got nuked to hell, his very existence and that there is some high tech institute still left making uber tech shows that it's not quite as desolate as some peeps here make it out to be (nothing to explore in a destroyed wasteland? has playing fallout games taught you all nothing?).

That said, I'd still prefer it if fallout was set in america, most of the lore we know originates there and porting any of that elsewhere would require some very twisted explanations.

I suppose it would be possible with an episode taking place in a location with a heavy US cultural influence. But then it might as well stay in the US. I guess there are plenty of geographical variety to make a snowy Fallout or a tropical Fallout in that big country.

I think it would be nice if gamemakers in general would design their games a bit broader culturally, but Fallout probably isn't the best setting for it.
