Poll: Should there be cake in Portal 2?

I think the game should say there's cake and continulously hint at cake throughout the game. But this time there wont actualy be cake and its sole purpose should be to anger gamers everywhere and force them to search for it everywhere despite it doesnt exist .

As someone who only found out about Portal last year, and is super stoked about Portal 2, I think there should be cake or at least the area where it was written on the walls. If you're gonna make the player walk through the same building, then the "secret" area should still be there. Brush away some plant life and voila! "The cake is a lie!" plastered all over the walls. But it shouldn't go further than that.

As for bringing back the companion cube, I see why you need it, but I don't think it should be brought back. I mean, yes, it was the only way to complete that level and there are bound to be more levels in need of cube companions, but I don't think we need one with hearts on it. It was silly the first time, it'll be silly again.

Just like the cake.

It seems the majority of you think that either the cake should be banned completely or it should only be mentioned as an obscure (well not very obscure) reference. I am actually inclined to agree with the latter despite the fact that some of you think that I said "cake is teh shiz!!!!! It shud nevah die!!

I actually think the best thing they should do would be to have something similar to the memans hideout in the first one but with cake instead of the companion cube.

Just the other day someone mentioned something being a lie and I immediately responded with "The Cake Is A Lie".

Exactly this Is why I'm happy there isn't going to be anything about cake in Portal 2. Just the game coming out should be enough to start people off with saying "The cake is a lie" at every damned opportunity. It's going to be excruciating enough without the game actually encouraging people to begin with that again.
So basically I agree with the other people in this thread who feel that you people who like "The cake is a lie" ruined it for yourself by shoving it down everybody's throats at every chance you got.

No, it wouldn't be Portal without portals and a loose connection to Half-Life.

The humour didn't come from "caek lol random" so much as an allegedly emotionless yet pathologically homicidal AI having a kind of background obsession with something perfectly innocuous. That would be something I would miss.
In a game whose story is essentially a one-intelligence show, that intelligence had better be characterized to hell and back, and I have no doubt that that will be the case. Tiresome cake or no.

EDIT: Also, as has been pointed out, the joke was never allowed to die with dignity. In order for a prodigal joke to be greeted with any degree of warmth, you have to have had a chance to actually miss it. For example - In Soviet Russia, lie is cake.

I am actually surprised by the results. I expected more people to say that they want the cake to return. But it appears that most of you are bored of the bloody mess that is all that remains of that which was once a horse. I am shocked. This is my shocked face :O
