I thought we lived in a FREE country. If you choose to do drugs in the privacy of your own home it should be your own business!! If you do drugs where it is infringing on others rights or endangering someone else, basically like drinking and driving, that is another situation altogether. May I also add that I do neither(drugs or alcohol) but this is still my opinion. Keep Big Government out of our personal lives and LET FREEDOM RING!!!!

people want to smoke pot because to them it's cool and edgy. Take away the cool and edgy part and reduce it to Tobacco and I think we'll start getting somewhere as a society.
People want to smoke pot because it feels really nice i.e. they smoke it to get high. I've smoked for the past 15 years and I've smoked with a lot of people, including lots of people for whom it was their first time, and the reason for smoking always was the desire to get high. And there's really nothing cool or edgy about it. It's popular but not fashionable, like something like cocaine is.

And yes, it should be legal. It's much less dangerous than alcohol and would bring in massive amounts of money in tax revenue. Also it would be nice to not have to watch Jackie Chan movies for 45 minutes every time I want to buy an eighth.

Yes it should be legalized or at least decriminalized, countries with legal drugs have less drug problems and less people per capita that use drugs.Along with the fact that we could grow it and tax it here. We'd also save tons of money now fighting the war on drugs, not having to pay for all the people in jail in drug related crimes, and for so so many reason it should be legalized. Not saying there isn't any downside to it being legalized, but the positives outweigh the negatives by far.

I don't smoke pot and have no interest in doing it legally or otherwise, but I think it should be legal.

I'm a supporter of semi-liberalism parties, they are the right way to go for a better future, not heavy regulations that do nothing but create more crime.

And really, the biggest dangers of weed come from bad batches from rushed production and growth helpers because it is illegal. If it were legal it could be well regulated diminishing the already low risks of using it.

It seems like on every five youtube videos I watch I see a comment like this "Legalize Marijuana!!! thumbs up for THC!! and RHCP!! Hey oh lets go smoke a bong!"
Someone's been youtubing Sublime and Bob Marley?

Anyway - I reckon it should probably be legalized, yeah. I could argue a whole case about how rules protecting citizens from themselves are inherently flawed, but I'll stick to just saying that if tabacco and alcohol are ok, pot should be too. I couldn't really care less though, as I don't smoke pot and it is already legal where I live.

Four reasons why we should legalize marijuana (in America).

1. No more pot-smokers in jail. Save the prison real-estate for rapists and murderers, please.

2. Reclaim a source of income from Central-American drug cartels and petty crooks and put it in the hands of legitimate businesses and law-abiding citizens.

3. Number of times I've heard about a man beating his wife and/or kids or committing other violent acts while drunk: Hundreds.

Number of times I've heard about a man beating his wife and/or kids or committing other violent acts while smoking weed: Zero.

4. Pot was made illegal in America in the first place because a group of businessmen wanted to destroy the hemp industry (according to Wikipedia, anyway), and because or racism against Hispanic immigrants (according to another book I read). It had nothing to do with the medical dangers (if any exist) of using weed.

I'd vote to legalize it just so stoners have nothing to talk about anymore.
Oh hey, it's Daniel Tosh.

"I think we should legalize marijuana in this country. So potheads have nothing to talk about ever again. You are SO annoying."

It's true. Every stoner around here talks about NOTHING but pot. Even if they're telling the same story for the 60th time. Jesus fuck.

Talk about something interesting.
Then they would talk about how hard it was to come by back in the days it was illegal, and what they had to do to acquire it.

It really depends on the country in question. For the United States, yes. Theres such a large chunk of the population that has tried it. Legalize and tax it.

This is for Rebellion XXI- BRAVO!!! I think people that become violent, when they are intoxicated or high, just try to use this as an "explanation" for why they are acting this way!!! More than likely they would have done the same thing drunk, stoned or SOBER. Its ALL just an excuse and something to blame it on. This way, they believe, they do not have to take RESPONSIBILITY for their own actions. They may actually be expected to control their tempers and act like civilized human beings, imagine that!!! As for smoking pot, I know there are millions of people, in this world, that partake in this "activity" everyday without incidence. It may not be "my cup of tea" but as they say "to each his own." I have no desire to infringe on anyone's rights, or privacy, as I expect this same courtesy. If people choose to spend their "hard earned" money on this "form of entertainment" let the government tax it, like they do EVERYTHING else!! Our government needs to worry about things that are actually important(the economy, homeland security etc.) instead of wasting precious time, manpower and TAXPAYER money on enforcing this ridiculous law. Just get rid of this law and grant ALL AMERICAN ADULTS the freedom to "Just Say No" if they so choose. Its not as if you would be forcing someone to do something against their free will. We can then let businesses create their own individual rules and regulations, as they see fit, pertaining to this matter. If you don't like their rules you can find employment elsewhere, its that simple. Now can someone please tell me, what's so difficult about that?????

If it could be legally sold and the US government taxed it, we'd be out of debt in a year.
Because pot tax will get the US government $10 trillion. Right.

It would save the police a lot of time arresting people who are either going to smoke again or not, anyway.

I vote no unless someone can give me some reasons as to why it should be legal besides 'It doesn't hurt anybody.' That's what all addicts say, and most of you are worse than addicts - you're children.

So what's the big deal about pot? Why is it so important to you that it's legalized?

Also, in speaking of legal pot and how great it would be blah blah stuff, anyone ever heard of California? Pot is essentially legal there and even the cops tend to not care. So why haven't you moved yet? Personally I think you need something to complain about, and this is your fad, opposite to the anti-video game fad your parents are caught up in. But either way, big deal with pot...go!

Pretty much the only reason it's not already legal is because the government can't make a profit off of it. If the government had no control over tobacco revenue, it'd most likely be illegal.

It would generate large quantities of tax revenue, it would ease the burden placed on a penal system that is struggling to handle a massive prison population that consists mostly of non-violent drug offenders both in terms of overcrowding and the financial burden placed on taxpayers to keep people serving sentences for possession incarcerated, it would also reduce the burden on taxpayers by lowering the costs of enforcing prohibition, it would create a new industry that would create new jobs, it would cut off a major revenue stream for organized crime, do I need to keep going?

And I like how you call us children while belittling us. How mature of you.
