I wasn't impressed by the linked video. It came across as a rambling, disconnected mess covering up for the lack of content. All sizzle, no steak.

I liked the "antique" video material and like I said I think he'd make a great educational video commentator. But if he wants to be a game critique he'd better start actually talking about what's in the title.
If his video had any legitimate point to make at all I'd be surprised.

I'm not sure. On one hand, I really like his humor and almost every single one of his "Reports", but on the other I really don't want The Escapist to become another That Guy With The Glasses, acquiring/hiring new talent every other week until the majority of people stop caring about who the "New Guy" is. Hell, The Escapist already has 13 ongoing shows that don't seem to be stopping anytime soon. There's no real need to add another.

EDIT: Looking at this thread again, I notice a lot people having a lot of hate for Jim Sterling. To all of those people, I would like to say one thing; stop looking at the lines and start reading in-between them.

I don`t understand why people dislike Jim so much, I mean, He is awesome.

Anyway doing that is like trying to compare two totally different things, Jim doesn`t review games he mainly talks about the industry just how Extra Credits does. If you want to compare him to anyone compare him to Yahtzee, but I still think he brings his own little funny style to it, with more visual sillyness than Yahtzee`s blunderbuss of words that sound funny, but I really enjoy both of them so I would be more than happy to see him on the escapist team.

Wait, what? Are we actually involved with hiring people here?

You really might've mentioned that a little earlier...

Wait, that was supposed to be funny?

Aside from the cute Pika-pics, that's was pretty unbearable.

Well~... As hard as it is for me to say it, I'd have to say no. Not that I don't find him funny, it's just that it seems to me he's trying a bit too hard to be funny. I just don't think we need another anglo-saxon reviewer, spatting the same opinion over the same games over and over again, with a slightly funny and original joke, or something. One fat English bloke is enough, I think(You know who I am talking about).

I thought you guys were done wrongfully hating on Jim Sterling.
Wrongfully? That's rather a strong word to use when describing Jim Sterling. I like to think I have a lot of very rightfully ways to hate him.

As for this other guy, I'm five seconds into one of his videos and already I want to watch more, and see his style and how it works. Get rid of Jim, put this guy in his place.

Okay, finished the video now. hire this man immediately. He would become my next watched video after Yahtzee if they did that.

0:50 [start there]

i find him really entertaining

but he really needs to shorten his intro
Not only that, but he also needs to find a different form of review, other than that of the guy who he dislikes... He makes some good points, I admit, exept that main one about kids not being retards who know nothing of the world, but do we honestly need people who don't have an original concept, or idea, and just rip-off others?

Seeing as he's done work for IGN he doesn't deserve a proper job in the gaming industry
Please, please tell me you were intending this to be at least somewhat tongue-in-cheek.
~
Yes, but I still think IGN is an illegitimate source of gaming news and what-not

Explain what's wrong with Jim Sterling and how this guy could possibly do a better job (this video doesn't really show that he can though)

Indeed he is. With a lot better language as well.
So yeah, bring him in is what i say.
He could have a nice little corner to vent off on stuff once a week.
Sterling > lisa foiles. I watched some episodes, I just didnt see what she had to offer and why people watched.
You don't see why people watched lisa? Really!?
Is it because she's blonde and has a nice chest? Looking at the comments on her videos, yeah that would seem the reason why for some people.

Gotta say, Mr Blyth is pretty funny. Like the humour and style of presentation, and how it's really less about games and more about social phenomena behind them. I'd most certainly watch this show if it were to turn up around here.

Agreed. Even if it's just a persona, Jim is an arrogant fuck and I don't like that - I thought the whole point of pretending to be something your not was to make yourself look better...
Um, have you ever heard of British humour? Yes, it is different to American humour. I find the Jimquisition good because he pushes the whole aspect of personal exaggeration to a ridiculous
level, using the holier-than-god act to put things into perspective of either God or an idiot.
I find this hilarious because you assume I am American and therefore don't understand... wrong - I'm British, and I understand what he is doing - but I still can't stand it.

Being British does not mean that I have to enjoy Jim as an entertainer just because he uses British Humor...

No, he belongs on Channel Awesome's "Blistered Thumbs."

I like Jimquisition, but he should be on TGWTG.com.

For me, The Escapist is nerdy animation, animated reviews, & joint project live action stuff that has at least 3 people in it.

No, Jim Sterling is funny, this man is bitter. There's a difference.

OP: Also, The Escapist is pretty much about games and other media like movies. This person seems to be mostly ranting about general life stuff.
