I don't shop at Gamestops. I've heard rumors of their terrible service though. I'd go talk to the manager. If he doesn't take you seriously, pull out the Super Scope.

A good rule to live by. They are used games for a reason. If you're lucky the reason is that the guy who bought it originally played it and hated it. If you are unlucky, it is for resale because it is broken.

It is a gamble every time you buy a discounted game.
Talk to the manager about what exactly? The weather? The high price of gas? Or the fact he was offered a refund in whole?
Talk about testing video games better? Talking about changing policy? I don't know. It is up to the OP.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

It might just be that the game you bought is just broken. Just because a game freezes doesn't mean that there's something wrong with the disc. It might just mean that you bought a shoddy game.

So you got a game that froze, called Gamestop, and they offered your money back or gave you the option to pay the difference for a new one. Is there a real complaint there besides 'I wasted my own precious time because they didn't waste their precious time checking every game that comes into their store'?

No, it shouldn't have happened. But he offered you a refund or a different copy, so I don't see what's the big fucking issue.

since you posted this topic till now, assuming a "1-hour commute to gamestop" means 1 hour each way, and then adding time in the store, and subtracting that you're probably exaggerating, We'll assume the complete errand takes 2 hours in all. You could have done this already and had time to take a shit.

In a perfect world? No.

You can't really blame GameStop, though. Maybe it's something with your system. Maybe something happened to the disk in the time it took for you to get it home and put it into your system. Something that can't be seen by the naked eye.

You never know. That's just part of the gamble of buying used games from GameStop. I've heard they're notorious for not making sure their used games work. Then again, I've bought new games and had the same problem. Sometimes the disk is defective, and some systems can skip over that section on pure luck alone.

So, maybe it shouldn't have happened. Maybe it was no ones fault. There's nothing you can do about it but get your money back or exchange it.

Did the OP every think to give the game a bit of a cleaning? You know, just a basic rub with a cloth to get any potential smudges or dust off it. And why didn't the OP reset his console and try again, seems kind of pathetic to get yourself all worked up because a game froze once.

Sure and then they can discuss who is going to pay for the millions of man hours it will take to test every game. And what point in the policy would need changing? Full refund not enough?

That sounded completely reasonable to me. It was a used game that turned out to be broken. The guy offered your money back. That is what should happen. Though I have seen some companies decide to let you get a new one for free because of inconvenience, you shouldn't be that upset. Frustrated sure, but if he says money back or split the difference for a new copy, that is fine.

dunno what you're really expecting, obviously they got duped into taking a jacked up used copy that worked well enough to get past their preliminary screening, but not well enough to actually stand up to being used for more than 10 minutes, if they'd told you to take a long walk off a short pier instead of offering you your money back, then yeah, you'd have a reason to be pissed, but... since that's not the case, dunno what to tell ya.

I'd say just try selling it online for a few bucks if you're not in a position to return it. Used games is a somewhat hit and miss market, it's reduced prices but you run the risk of buying a broken game.

It's partly your fault for shopping at Gamestop, but it's mostly their's. Fuck Gamestop.
Gamestop sucked before he entered, so technically it's Gamestops fault for sucking so much.
HATE THE GAMESTOPZ!

OT: No, go back and speak to the manager.
Break his kneecaps if necessary.
But he willingly entered that dark place.
your right, he should have shopped at someplace wholesome like wallmart
Walmart is wholesome?

OT: I see no fault here. There is always a risk in buying used games over new games. That is why they are a lower price. Plus you can't expect them to play through every single game to make sure they work until the end of the game. If they put it in and the game starts up then they have every right to assume that the game works. If it doesn't than oh-fucking-well. Such is the risk you take for buying used.

I fail to see the problem. They offered a refund and you're bitching about it? Why? Do you actually think they have time to check every game they have in the store for any glitches or bugs? No. They don't. You should be glad they offered a refund. They could have easily given you a nice "Screw you, you're on your own" instead. Also, when you buy used games, there's the chance it won't work.

So, why are you mad?

I have never had a used game from gamestop that didn't work, however i did buy a game and when i got home i found that it was the wrong game, but at least it was from the same seris. I took it back the next day, by time i got back into town the store would probably have been closed, and they guy behind the counter accused me of switching the game. Since then i don't really bother with gamestop. But, yeah, gamestop are basically useless!

P.S if you must know, i bought Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams and ended up with Onimusha: Blade Warriors (which i already had, but still haven't played....hmmm)

Dude, the guy's working with company procedure. He offered you a refund, which is all he's got permission to do. What on earth did you expect him to do?

As for your rude e-mail to Gamestop, what's that going to achieve? Someone in a call centre will take one look at it, send you a nice, placating e-mail, and forget about it.

Sometimes stuff doesn't work. Deal with it, and stop talking as if it's everyone's fault but your own. I deal with customers every day, and the worst ones are the people who feel they're entitled to anything more than what consumer law grants them. If you buy something which doesn't work, you can get a refund, or you can storm off.

Sales clerks, general managers, and customer service employees deal with people like you all the time, and being belligerent just means they won't bother helping you. Hell, if I was spoken to in the same manner that you're speaking about those GameStop employees, I'd just tell you to get out of the shop.

We're retail employees. Just because we serve you doesn't mean we like you.
