the first game i ever saw tits in was afro samurai, then almost every m rated game i played from thereafter. now i know theres been partial nudity before, but its only been in the recent year or two that ive actually seen full blown nudity. Now i dont have a problem with it, but its weird that people dont really get pissed at this, but they do get pissed at things that are less severe. what do you think?

I haven't seen a sudden surge in video game nudity.

We've had it for years, long before Afro Samurai or even the current generation consoles.

It's just nudity anyway, uncanny valley nudity.

There was almost a non stop stream of nudity in the 80s, that stopped abruptly. I still haven't seen much of a comeback, but we are getting there...

It's kinda like buy a dirty movie; if you're not showing it in public, there's no reason why it shouldn't be allowed.

I don't have any problem with it. Movies got lots of tits in them (even the non porn ones) so why shouldn't games? And yes, there are still occasional crazy people going crazy about it (ME1).

Last I heard, people get pissed at every sign of violence, sexuality, or drug use because non-gamers have some misconception that video games are only for kids.
yea, remember gta hot coffee? that had no nudity, it looked like two dolls bumping together, but ive heard nothing of any nudity in the news.

I think it's stupid when they try and use nudity to sell a game... case in point: Bayonetta! :D

I hated the gameplay... and boobs weren't going to sell it to me.

I get annoyed if nudity is cheap and not needed.

Second case in point: Metal Gear Solid 2 :D

The nudity wasn't exactly a key selling point. It made sense to a degree, and the following section was one of the most fun bits of MGS2.

When tastefully done... it's fine.

Well I can trace back to at least FF6 ... thrill kill (i think?) ... skinnable FPSes ... various strip poker games ... Ghouls & Ghosts / & Goblins ... and those notorious VCS sex games. Plus whole scads I'm probably forgetting. Boobs also sold (without necessarily having them uncovered) Barbarian, Gauntlet, Tomb Raider etc. It's hardly a new thing.

Though, full frontal norkage or more (upto and including wang) isn't something I'm yet familiar with in the original design of mainstream games (particularly having skipped Mass Effect and the singleplayer bits of Halo). Sort of feel I'm missing out.

Has there been a surge of nudity into gaming? I guess I haven't noticed because I've had my hands out of my pants and am focused on playing the game.

Nudity sells the game... Because a lot of hentai will pop up later because they already know what they look like... Or thats what I think. That and little kids + boobs = room occupied for 40 hours.

Okay re reading that, it has nothing to do with why is it okay... well usually its in later parts and its obviously not on the box. So its un-expected and of coarse your not telling your mom about how you saw tits.

Because there's no reason whatsoever to be angry at nudity? Yes, some use it only as a cheap selling point (looking at you, GoW), but that doesn't mean the naked human body belongs in video games any less than in all other art forms.

I'm personally quite sick of the separation of between the games industry and any other entertainment medium.

Nudity doesn't necessarily carry connotations leading to 'wrongness' or 'corruption', it's just a medium that is still in its relevant infancy. And you never want to flash a child.

Especially if the police stop you... Again...

Remember "Insects in Space" (which was surprisingly ok considering the main character had hypnotic bouncing boobs) and "Custer's Revenge"? *shudders...*

Nudity's been around for almost as long as drug abuse (Pacman).
