Why shouldn't it be? I for one find it kind of stupid that some people are fine with excessive violence and gore in games and yet object to nudity. Not that I'm against excessive violence and gore in games. Far from it. I'm just saying if you're going to be against one of the two, that seems the more reasonable one to be against. It's the same with any form of media, really. Especially in the US, it seems. Nudity and sexual themes are somehow seen as being worse than violence. That's always puzzled me.

I do dislike it when they throw it in just for the sales though. If it makes sense to include it in the game, go for it though. I'm fed up with the general mass media perception of games as "children's toys", rather than a real artistic medium just like books or films.

I'm not trying to make an exhibit of myself by saying this, but I'm gay. This gives me a different stance on games with nudity in them because I'm less compelled by the promise of a sex scene like in, say, Mass Effect, or the Playboy magazines in Mafia II. I'm disillusioned to the point where I understand that it's just a marketing ploy to get more thirteen-year-old boys who haven't learned the power of Google yet. I guess we'd be even if Mafia II also included sweaty, uncensored locker room scenes but oh well.

So basically I'm against nudity in games in order to get more brainless sales, but that's the developer/publisher's prerogative. It just doesn't have artistic value. That said, censorship is against the entire idea of art, so nothing should really have to be kept back.

The ideal nudity in games for me would be the kind with a sort of artistic value, like in The Void. The fact that you and many other characters are completely naked isn't to simply make more profits, but rather to symbolically portray the fact that you are vulnerable and near death.

Just having boobs in a game for the hype and for the hell of it is shallow, but it should definitely be allowed.

Since people became desensitized to large breasts. Sellers have to take it a step further to sell.

well the first game with nudity was custards revenge but the first game I saw it in was master of magic, the black caster you could be would be topless when she would cast a spell or summon a monster, I forget how it worked

It all depends on the context of the game. Overall, I find it a bit distracting from the action. I don't want developers to spend any percentage of the special effects budget on boobs. Games with nudity rarely use it in a necessary way to advance the plot. The same is sometimes true of big explosions, but I play games to see those, not nudity.

The Saboteur had an interesting take on this. On Xbox 360, there was a free DLC that put nudity into the game. It was pretty much an equivalent of the Nude Mod that exists for almost every PC game.

to an extent boobs in a sex/shower scene are OK but if you put them somewhere in the game without any rime or reason (for example the female lead of a game removing her top for no reason) would be unesesary and stoopid

Like I give a shit if there's some tits in a video game? I'm fucking 32 years old so it bothers me not. Gaming isn't for kids anymore so people shouldn't act like seeing a vaj or a set of tits is something unseen before.

The only requirement they should have is to provide a compelling reason to actually have the nudity. That's where having a good story and good gameplay come into effect.

To me nudity in games is fine, but I don't think the media are quite ready to handle it yet.

Remember the shitstorm about the side-profile'd breast in Mass Effect?

I don't see why it would be an issue. They exist, we make games about things that exist ( not always but we do ). It's not that terribly offense its just the human body.

Always found this odd, people are perfect fine if you are allowed to smash a guys face into the wall until there is nothing left off his face except for the puddle of blood on the floor. But as soon nudity is involved it goes like "uh nue protect ze children from ze boobies!".

The artform is maturing. We've come a long way from doom, mario bros and tetris.

Nudity in video games is used as it is in movies; Casually, To attract viewers, or to make a statement, symbolism or for dramatic effect.

Nudity should be used responsibly, but just as in movies, some games will just try to make more money by promising tit. Compare nude scenes in Devil's Advocate to, say, American Pie. The difference between videogame nudity can be just as huge.

Only in America, but we like to keep sex taboo cause it sells better that way.

Because the target audience of most games are 20 something college douche bags and 12 year old boys. What do they have in common? Awe whenever they see a women shirtless. Unfortunately, this leads to the 12 year old's parents seeing it (because they don't know how the hell to be discrete) and becoming the anti-gaming parents we see today trying to topple the entire industry. Of course they're too stupid to see that it's their fault for buying the game for their child in the first place.

...Also, this made me think of Mrs. Broflovski in South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut...

The whole "Violence is fine as long as nobody says any naughty words" deal.

Uh, there's been tits in mainstream video games since 1996 (at least, that's when I remember seeing it first). There just seems to be more games with nudity because the average gamer is over 18 at this point. And that's fine. I don't see any problem with it if the game is for people over the legal age.

it doesn't bug me at all, but i think from a certain point it gets annoying when the girl(s) wear almost nothing the whole game, so your in gameplay or doing something and its just big 5% clothed tittie bodies trying to destroy an army of *insert generic enemy here*

but if its like mass effect 1 (not 2, jack was a suprise, it fits her style of character but wow you cant even call that a "top") where the girls are actually covered up in combat with armor and stuff but then obviously can get "down" ;] then i like that.

Hell, I had a naked girl in my last English book.

Although, I'd say videogames were first, seeing as porn games date back to the Atari era, if not earlier.
Did you draw it, or was it already there?
