I am pretty unhappy with the casual use of nudity in video games lately. I watched my little brother download the Demo for Mafia 2 and then within five minutes of playing the demo he found the PlayBoy magazine that they offer in the very first room of the game. Not only that, but after leaving the nude page quickly in confusion he was promised that this was a collectible item that could be found again later in the demo.

I just don't see why nudity is necessary in such an accessible thing such as a demo, and I find this a severe case. Nudity definitely has its place in video games. But nudity has been awkwardly and naively used for too long in these triple-A titles.

When was the last time you saw sexuality and nudity in a video game where it seemed appropriate for the game and it's broad audience? Bayonetta had it's audience pretty figured out. But a demo for Mafia 2? Now you are just being silly.
Wait, you don't mind violence in a game with an 18+ rating, but nudity isn't. How old is your brother? If he's younger than 18 why is blasting people to bits ok but boobs are scary?

....Are you American?
You got it. I'm not Scandanavian, my personal values are different. I'd rather promote my little brother to have a destructive nature then a sexual one.
Also, this is a game that is advertised for being a Mafia member, so its understood going in to the game that killing will occur. And as pattern showed, we got what we expected, a GTA-styled open world game with a very hip 50s setting. Except for that the game makers wanted to do something different and shake that pattern by rewarding you for collecting centerfolds. What place does this have in the demo of a game? From my perspective this is just free promotional masturbatory materials. Definitely appropriate for a game that someone put $60 down for, not for something someone downloaded to check out how the general game worked.

I think nudity doesn't really matter anymore, Red Dead Redemption had two people having sex on a table in plain sight, and nobody cared, but when Mass Effect showed up with *gasp* partial nudity! there was a public outcry about it. Maybe the reason it is accepted is because people finally started reading the freaking ratings, and stopped buying games like that for 8 year olds
