Come on guy really, would you ask this about a film?
Its just a thing that can happen in a story, like a violent fight, or a tragic moment. Sometimes its used as a plot device, some times its in the very basis of the style (e.g. High School of the Dead) and sometimes its used to sell the bloody thing.
I did not play it or see the original series but from what I hear it was aimed heavily at an adult audience so why are you getting so annoyed?
Just enjoy it, and incase anyones calls me shallow I actually really enjoy love storys (I loved KimiKiss Various Heroines) with or without sex. Dont get me wrong though, I luv da boobies.

I think it's a great thing. Showing nudity in games and having people not react means that the medium is maturing, as well as the people surrounding it. This also means that people that are outside of the gaming scene are viewing it in a more mature light, which is awesome if games ever want to be treated as a movie or song would be; with great respect.

Of course, it's very easy to overuse nudity. For an example in movies, look at pretty much every slasher flick. Does showing breasts advance or improve the plot? No. Does it help the storytelling? No. It's simply there to get more of a reaction out of the audience, which helps in making great entertaining movies at times, but never the kind that will win Oscars. A similar thing could start happening in games. Using nudity will provoke more of a reaction, but unless it's used in a way that will improve the plot/storytelling, then it will simply be a very entertaining piece of gaming that will not really advance the medium. I can already hear some cries of "What about God of War?". Well, nudity actually fits the time period. In the Greek Olympics, participants would be naked while competing. A lot of sculptures from the time featured people in the nude. Greeks were fascinated with the human body, and weren't afraid to show it off. So in this case, although it CAN BE for entertainment, the nudity actually enhances the setting of the story, because nudity in that time period is so believable.

Anyway... where was I? Oh yes, if nudity is used to enhance something within the movie (I know I restricted it to plot/storytelling before, but it can be anything. Setting for example.) then it is a great device. After all, if it feels realistic to have nudity in a certain situation, then not having nudity would simply kill the entire mood of it. A person's suspension of disbelief can only go so far.

Well I can trace back to at least FF6 ... thrill kill (i think?) ... skinnable FPSes ... various strip poker games ... Ghouls & Ghosts / & Goblins ... and those notorious VCS sex games. Plus whole scads I'm probably forgetting. Boobs also sold (without necessarily having them uncovered) Barbarian, Gauntlet, Tomb Raider etc. It's hardly a new thing.

Though, full frontal norkage or more (upto and including wang) isn't something I'm yet familiar with in the original design of mainstream games (particularly having skipped Mass Effect and the singleplayer bits of Halo). Sort of feel I'm missing out.
Mass Effect did not have full frontal nudity. You can see more nudity on the cover of a magazine like Maxim while waiting in line at the grocery store than you do in ME

I wish there was a "don't care" option in the poll. I feel like such a douchebag picking "titties FTW!!!"

Honestly, if the game is rated M then you should be at least 17, and if you haven't seen tits by 17... well, I guess you picked the right hobby. Nevermind.

Remember "Insects in Space" (which was surprisingly ok considering the main character had hypnotic bouncing boobs) and "Custer's Revenge"? *shudders...*

Nudity's been around for almost as long as drug abuse (Pacman).
I looked up Custer's Revenge once. Never doing that again. Although there was (I think) a screenshot of it in the RoJo ENN video.

I'm still waiting for the general public to stop separating video games from other medium. And for some wierd reason here in America, "Sex = BAD" while "violence = okay" (in Japan, it's the opposite).
Dude, when it comes to videogames, sex in Japan isn't "ok", it's MANDATORY. Plus it doesn't count unless it involves cephalopods.

...What? WHAT? Why are you all staring at me...?

I really don't fap while playing. Don't need boobs there. But they don't really bother me if there are any.

Okay, you get mad props for that. It gave me a pretty good laugh.

Wait...Cephalopods...My hold on biology is not as good as my hold on chemistry...but are you talking about tentacle sex?

SINCE I TURNED 18, THAT'S WHEN!

Now excuse me while I go download more erotic Oblivion Mods.

Since when was it okay to have nudity in a video game? I don't think it's ever been okay. People are too politically correct to have it. Protect the children and such...

Real simple.

Does it have an M or AO rating?

If so, the developer can put in what they want. If the player reads the box, sees "some nudity" and gets angry when the boobs are out...hurf durf, too bad.

The poll is quite silly, really. "Are sex and nudity okay in movies?" "Does the rating allow it?"

I'd say yes because I am a man. A man with testosterone and a predilection for the female form. OK fine I'm a pervy sod but I'm just going to blame genetics for that...and the fact I've not been laid since June!

I can remember playing Duke Nukem 3D and that had a little easter-egg (if you can call it that) in which you could give a stripper a dollar and she'd flash her bitmaps at you. That was back in the 90's and I would have thought, what with all this progressive thinking, that would be considered prudish.

Nope. You can visit a strip club in GTA4 in which the women end the dance with the same underwear ensemble as when they started. They don't strip - they just dance provocatively and charge $100 a pop! At a real strip club I got full-on nudity as well as the girl grabbing my hair, yanking my head forwards and thus burying my face between her rather pert breasts. That only cost me a tenner.

That said though, I think if you start slapping nudity everywhere it loses it's impact. I rather like "tasteful" nudity in which the girl is naked but you can't really see the important bits. That'd be fine for, say, the odd cutscene or picture on a wall. If you're going to do a sex-scene in a game, show more. I'm not saying go to porno levels where you can see it going in but nearly every movie sex-scene shows bare arse and boobs these days. The hype about ME1 was laughable because the sex-scene in that, purported to contain "full-frontal nudity and graphic sex" turned out to be no more graphic than a James Bond film's sex scene.

It really gets my feckles up when I hear parents wailing about games being full of blood and porn and rape and Nazi's and...and...and...FUCK OFF! Read the box - that bloody great "18" / "X" / "M" logo tells you it's NOT FOR CHILDREN. Just because it's a GAME doesn't mean it's automatically for KIDS. I really want to slap these twatholes around the face with raw bacon when they appear on TV crying because the game THEY BOUGHT for THEIR kids "was not suitable".

Hell one of the very first MODs I installed for Fallout 3 was Naouak's female nudes. I found it utterly ridiculous that the game already had an 18 rating for language, violence, scary-monsters, prostitution etc. but no sexual content. Hell you can even drink alcohol, which some people (well I use the word "people" in the broadest possible sense) consider more offensive than face-raping one of the lions of Nelson's Column.

Finally - consider this. The first thing most newborn babies see in their lives is a knocker thrust in their face so what is so wrong with looking at them later on in life? Bloody hypocrites! ;-)

MOAR TITS, MOAAAAAAAAR TITS!

In all seriousness nudity has been in games long enough for it to be considered boring.

Duke Nukem 3D. Years and years ago.

Nudity is in all forms of media; art, games, movies. It's an age old thing, and while some people get annoyed by it in games, they also get annoyed by people not praying five times a day to a god or wearing your shoes inside.

Remember, everyone sucks but you and their opinions are nothing more than notes.

Why do you find it that intriguing that a thread is required? I'm not taking a stab at you, but all these threads that lack a good means to discussion.

the first game i ever saw tits in was afro samurai, then almost every m rated game i played from thereafter. now i know theres been partial nudity before, but its only been in the recent year or two that ive actually seen full blown nudity. Now i dont have a problem with it, but its weird that people dont really get pissed at this, but they do get pissed at things that are less severe. what do you think?
its been in movies for AGEES. Seeings as games are also a form of art and expression much like movies why do they get jugded differently for doing stuff movies have done for yonks. People have some stupid double standard for movies and games. It confuses me no end.

That's probably because most so-called defenders of moral virtue still live with the outdated idea that all games are for kids. And kids need to be protected from the bogeyman of sexuality.
