Ummmm? Not that it concerns me since I've beaten the game but....SPOILER! HELLO??

This whole thread even before clicking on it spoils a big moment in the game.
"Did you kill (X)?" in a game where you can kill damn near any X you want is hardly a spoiler.
It is when it's part of the main story, and last I checked you can't kill characters vital to the story unless the plot allows it.

So yes! This is a spoiler.
The title is not a spoiler.

If you look at the title from the perspective of someone who hasn't progressed the main plot to the point of meeting Papa, the title tells you two things: there is a character named Paarthurnax and at some point, you have the option to kill that character. Since you don't know who or what Paarthurnax is, you're still in the dark. That's...not really a spoiler.

This poster got it closer to the mark:

First off, as mentioned by previous posters, at least add "SPOILERS" to the title, because there are some pretty heavy spoilers here.
The discussion about why or why not kill Papa is where spoilers lie, not the title itself.

Of course, anyone sensitive about Skyrim spoilers should simply have the good sense not to click on a thread mentioning a name they don't recognize.

nope, fuck the empire and the blades. besides, dragons are more honorable and understandable than most mortals, plus if they did take over the world, it'd be worth it to see the high elves knocked down 20 pegs!

I didn't even consider it, Paarthunax was my favorite npc along with Balgruuf the Greater.

practically ANY Skyrim thread is going to have spoilers, intentional or not, its not MY fault that you read the whole title when you could have stopped at "Skyrim"

Pfft, don't listen to them--the title itself is not a spoiler. Some people just like to complain.

Welcome to the Escapist. Careful, it's a minefield.

Hey, does anyone remember the game Sly 3? Remember the Panda King?

Yeah, I see Paarthurnax just like that. He's a reformed Buddhist monk who sure as shit isn't gonna go around murdering people anymore. People/sentient things/etc can change. Sure, it's rare as hell, but it happens. Paarthurnax has shown he has through his actions. His will is like steel. I don't see him breaking/reverting ever. After all, what would he have to break over?

Hopefully the Blades can get over it one day.

PAARTH THE MAGIC DRAGON
(Obviously to the tune of Puff the Magic Dragon - adapted by UZO)

Paarth the magic dragon,
Lived on a hill,
He grumbled lots
And said some stuff
On how to dragons kill.

Little mortal Blades though
Eyed that rascal Paarth,
And said to
Dovahkiin one day
That Paarth bore mortals ill.

Dovahkiin took weapons
Spells and potions,
And FUS RO DAH'd
And JOOR ZAH FRUL'd
And lo! he Paarth did kill.

Now there's no more dragons,
The skies are empty.
And sure enough
The Blades did cheer
And mighty tales tell.

But Dovahkiin was lonely
His friend ol' Paarth was gone.
From wintery mount
To wintery grave
He jumped and to death fell.

Paarthunax was way too cool for me to kill. Delphine came across as a ninny, and it's not like I really need her or some old guy for protection. I'm the motherf*cking dragon born!

Absolutely not. I told the Blades (in my head) to go fuck themselves and than I just stole the armor and gave it to my assistant. I went back to Paarthurnax and me and him had a good laugh about it.

Seriously, did you really think he was evil? Speak to the Blades, and then speak to him. It's not that hard to discern who the bloodlusting douchebags are.

I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Paarthurnax is one of the most awesome characters in GAMING and when the Blades ***** told me to do that, I turned off her invulnerability and slit her throat.

Even with I lust for seeing all of a games content, I just can't do it.

Doesn't matter. Bethesda won't do another Elder Scrolls game.
When oblivion has frozen over, I might take that seriously. And maybe not even then- Todd Howard would spin that into a really cool idea.

Honestly, I must say I would have preferred if the topic was called "Did you kill...?" instead. I know its been 2 months, and that the main story was really part of the main point of the game (sort of odd now that I say it...), but I haven't played the main quest that far, and I only knew of Paarthurnax's existence and what he was, based on some random facts I fell upon on the internet. I personally wouldn't have wanted to know that that choice came up just yet, but gah, my fault for waiting so long. I likely would have looked at the forum anyways upon looking at the suggested title..

OT: With that said, no answer; I haven't even met him. I doubt I would, my Khajiit Listener Assassin doesn't take sides except for the Mother's.

I decided not to kill him, he posed no threat to me, I liked the greybeards better than the blades, and if he ever did start to attack villages, I have seen the townspeople attack and kill dragons easily without my help.

Paarthunax was probably the only genuinely interesting/likeable character in the entire game. Of course I didn't kill him, the Blades were annoying and the sidequests you get from them are just "Go kill dragon with a few companions" radiant missions anyways.
