Also, Lockpicking was insanely easy in Oblivion, I could pick very hard locks with novice skill level as a Mage or Warrior with no stealth majors. But maybe that's just me, I played the game so much I just developed a knack for it.
And you can't forget the Skeleton key, wonder if they'll have that in Skyrim?

Depends. The Daedric Items were unique to Oblivion (Should clarify, I was under the impression the ITEMS were uniqre, not the Shrines). It seems as though the shouts are unique to Skyrim, though maybe they will have something similar to the Daedric shrines that yield unique items EDIT: I'm aware Daedra shrines are a running theme, and yes I expect them in Skyrim.

EDIT EDIT: Yeah, I failed hard here...

I don't care about the changes, Skyrim will be my first Elder Scrolls game.
hmmm don't whether to slap you, or welcome you.
Well you can slap me, I've played the other ES games and I didn't like them at all, Skyrim might be the one to change things.

Oh, and I also liked Fallout 3 more the it's predecessors.

Well...maybe you should've said so in the first place deary. :)

It's a little weird how you stated at one point that you like freedom... but are so staunchly against mods. If that other guy wants to play as Sauron, who are you to call that cheesy?

I don't mean to be rude but, mods offer you the freedom to play the game in ways that the dev just can't afford to let you. Whether that be for engine, time or lore constraints.
I dont assume a multiplatform game is played on only one system. And so what if I want freedom but dont want mods? You can use mods if it makes it more fun for you. You have that CHOICE to do so, as I can choose not to. My biggest issues though, is when they give us something, then take it away. Its alot easier to accept that I cant have something I did not have before. Skyrim should be ADDING weapons and armors, not taking them away.

What? No! Daedric artifacts and items were not unique to Oblivion. They were featured in all of the previous titles, although the Daedric aspect was played up only in Daggerfall and Morrowind. Hell, Morrowind's Bloodmoon expansion focused on the Daedric Prince Hircine, where you were able to get his artifacts, "The Spear of the Hunter" and "Hircine's Ring", neither of which were featured in Oblivion.

Edit: Daedric shrines and summonings will most certainly make a return, just as they did in Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion.

And that right there is where the entire argument fails. Bethesda is taking away Greaves......... but they're adding SO many other things! A brand new engine; more populated towns and cites (thanks to the trivial removal of pants, so now NPCs are made of fewer meshes); far better graphics; and last, but not least: DRAGONS! Effin Dragons!!

It's not their fault that people choose to look at only the bad and say silly things like "Skyrim=Oblivion - pants". It's not. If you have any doubts... go watch the e3 gameplay footage.

Upon inspection of the TES wiki, I can humbly say: oops. I don't know why I thought that. Though I should clarify I was under the impression that the Items were unique... not the shrines (though this is true for some of them), just terrible phrasing on my part.

In my entire playthrough of Daggerfall, I only ever found 2 Daedric shrines and I don't recall ever completing their quests. It's been a while since I played the game and I was pretty young at the time... I guess I'm not a very good explorer.

In Morrowind I only completed 2 Daedric shrine quests and never played the expansions. The items I got were different to the ones I received in Oblivion. One of them was for Mehrumes Dagon, which yielded Mehrumes razor which you couldn't get in Oblivion (unless you bought the DLC apparently, which I didn't).

Well, guess this means I need to fire up my copy of morrowind again or buy the complete game with xpacs for dirt cheap. I don't think I could tolerate a return to Hammerfell though, I have fond memories but it hasn't aged well.

Well, you can probably manage to get yourself the Morrowind GOTY for about twelve pesos, so I'd highly recommend it. :D As for the Daedric shrines in Morrowind, there weren't really that many of them lying around. Most of the best Daedric artifacts (Cuirass of the Savior's Hide is a great example) were found in ruins, or in the tower of a particular wizard who didn't mind you stealing his stuff.

I likely get it, if only to fill the gap between now and November.

I have never been a completionist, but even I am shamed that I never found more shrines. I can forgive my Daggerfall playthrough as I was young. But Morrowind... It must have been an exam year or something.

Also, herp derp: http://greyviper.com/5705/skyrim-games-windows-drm-bonus-map-preorder.html

Even if there's no guarantee that Live will be included (yet), its DRM will be.
That doesn't make a lick of sense. If Games for Windows Live has no guarantee of being included, how the hell does its DRM have that guarantee? Games for Windows Live is the DRM. How can it be there and not be there at the same time? Also, if you'd look at the line/banner on those images, you don't see any gold at all on them for the PC. The gold would indicate Games for Windows Live.

Example of a game with Games for Windows Live DRM, notice the golden line/banner. [http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71mQ64Qs4FL._AA1080_.jpg]

Example of a game with no Games for Windows Live DRM, but still being Games for Windows. Notice the lack of a golden line/banner. And as an added bonus this game had Steam for its DRM. [http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81UlCGmZnKL._AA1500_.jpg]

I also apologize for getting to you two days late, I didn't keep track of this thread.

EDIT: In case you would prefer examples of games yet to come.

With Games for Windows Live. [http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71PPyhpIzlL._AA1198_.jpg]

Without - as far as I can figure - Games for Windows Live. [http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91869C-%2BBBL._AA1500_.jpg]

It almost bothers me that this happened, as you will lose enchanting stats/base armor stats. But I am going to assume that you get higher bonuses from the enchantments/stats on the armor itself, so I am not to worried about it. I'm sure it will still look amazing, and if nothing else there will no doubt be a mod that fixes it!

From what I've seen of Skyrim the armour now actually looks good, realistic and practical. The armour in oblivion was just rediculous... The more options i have to customise my characters look the better. oblivion was way too uniform.

The main issue here (for me, at least) is not aesthetics or design; it is feeding that Diabloesque drive for more and better loot. With separate greaves and breastplate, one has an additional item to find or buy, an additional goal to work towards. The game feels deeper. With combined armor items, there is less to worry about - but there is also less to work with. Fewer slots for enchantments, fewer choices in the market. In truth, the armor pieces are identical in function - just adding numbers to a defense score - both here and in Oblivion. But the feel of the thing is that more armor pieces provides greater choice and freedom to the player, and that is a feeling that Bethesda of all people should know the value of courting.

Agree on that, loot need to make you happy at the thought of finding something really rare, unique and awesome... not sure elderscrolls has done much on that subject.

I'd rather have pants, but I guess if they have good reasons for it its fine.

But they didn't think to remove the Soul gem system? I hate charging my weapons! Why not removie that process and just make enchantments on weapons cost free, but make them less effective or give them a cool down time period. Because I don't want to have to worry about recharging my shit, I just want to kill things.

I don't give a shit if they combine both armor piece as long as they add the fucking ability to wear a robe OVER MY GOD-DAMN ARMOR!
Seriously, I could fucking do this in Morrowind and it was my favorite fucking thing ever bc, for whatever reason, I like wearing a shitty looking robe and having Infinity+1=Godmodetomystats armor on under it.

Pretty much this, especially as it's Skyrim and I'm big on RPing, in Blood Moon I wore fur clothes underneath my armour and a fur robe on top. Plus the armour was Bearskin. It was cold.
